Yeah, the American characters weren't even in the same ballpark as their British & Irish counterparts. Everything was off. Americans just aren't very good at self deprecating humour. They can do it, like Al Bundy in Married With Children for instance but the Brits just do it better.

Apes are no longer that interesting. It's not a fresh idea.

With kingdom, Wes ball has opened the door to remake the original planet of the apes. I am too young to have been a fan of the original movies. They were made before my time. But this series is so fresh and original, not a single film so far has been a let down in the least. Unlike star wars, or jurassic park or the DC franchise, it's as if Hollywood really cares about this franchise. And they don't want to screw it up. I hope this franchise continues to grow and evolve. I want to be able to show these movies to my kids.

Crash was a mediocre film but Brokeback mountain was even worse a superficial melodrama also

It happens rarely, but I have to agree with the director's decisions to cut the scouring of the shire. That's is, as far as cinematic is concerned. Can't say the same, for how they butchered the Witcher's lore instead.

What a retarded take it is to say that Rise of the Planet of the Apes is not a good standalone movie. It might be the best of a fantastic trilogy.

Before I say this I should say I am a working animator who works with mocap… I understand the difficulty nominating a mocap performance for best actor. When I get footage to work with I sometimes have to change chunks of the performance. I have to change an action completely and then tell the face team “hey can you make this facial performance keep doing X instead of going into Y like the actor did? Because we decided to change the action for the edit.” We try NOT to do that to preserve as much as we can but it happens. So it’s different than just Denzel going before a camera and acting

Because it is seen as rascist by most blacks. In a way it kind of is tbh. Even in the original all the humans were white and all the apes were black hmm?

For me it's just down to personal taste. I love sci-fi but I've always felt uncomfortable watching these movies, even the original movie from the 1960s, even if I acknowledge their qualities. The worst thing is that I can' even explain why.

I think Ryan and Kelly's character transformations were great. They didn't really know what to do with the characters in the early seasons, but they developed well. Ryan was like a wannabe techbro entrepreneur and Kelly was like an arrested development adult teenage girl. Their characters got a lot more to do than just being random background employees

All movies have violently sucked since 2002. The 2001 POTA ironically was literally about the very last even good movie ever made!

  • @user-rg7uh9se4c

I am not saying the 2001 POTA films was perfect. One scene in it that sucked dog was when they tried to somewhat explain how the planet got ape dominated with a video that looked like something from the TV show "America's Most Wanted". Horrible scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Knocked the whole movie from very good down to just good.

All movies have totally sucked for over two decades. Ironically, about the last even good movie made was "Planet of the Apes" in 2001. Not more people are not into POTA because the films are no damn good at all. PS The only thing that sucked about the 2001 POTA was when they tried to show how the planet became ape dominated. That "America's Most Wanted"-looking video explanation was lousy!

Maybe some things just aren't meant to be watered down for the the Marvel-watchers out there, maybe not everything has to be pop-culturalised and universalised so as the sub 80 IQ crowd can watch it and clap along like seals. The original apes movies endure so much better because they don't feel the need to appeal to todays hyperactive sensibilities. Good day media critics and nerds.

Planet of the Apes allways will be understand franchise, because the hole idea is something to absurd for many, new audience. I many time heard people laugh at the idea of apes conquering the world, talking, riding horses and keeping humans in cages like a pets - no matters they mean the old or modern Planet of the Apes movies.

Gilda became Leslie, but since Sheldon wasn't interested in women she cooked up with Leonard... she had strong opinions and was direct about who she is and had very liberal ideas about sex.... Amy was awkward and sheltered cared about being liked and leaned into her social wounds and gushed about how grateful she was to find friends and belonging... Leslie was sarcastic and cynical... a loner who was also into orgies... I don't know if Amy and Leslie ever met... but that would have been interesting because Leslie was Sheldon's nemesis... but I liked Leslie because she didn't coddle Sheldon... she respected him enough to be herself when dealing with him.. so it would have been interesting having Leslie and Amy have a discussion about Sheldon..

The biggest problem is that the majority of the characters ( especially humans) are either uninteresting or getting killed off/replaced between movies as a result you can’t connect to the story because they constantly move forward and go to different stories also there’s not enough action or big moments

Are the new Apes movies chronically underrated? No. Rise is fine, Dawn is good, War is one of the most bloated borefests ever committed to screen. That’s why these films aren’t a “cultural juggernaut”.

I think i kind of agree with other viewers theory that Homer went to crap at the end of Season 8 with the Frank Grimes episode. He showed a complete lack of regard for human life and other peoples suffering, which was NOT in his character during those early seasons.

I also had always thought the end scene should have faded as Sam entered his home and then refocused with an old Samwise at the prow of a ship, leaving Middle Earth from the Gray Havens as the last Ringbearer.

I think about us with weapons & military, and can't fathom us being overtaken by primaries. When you pit cowboys vs. Indians, it's always the cowboys who come out on top. The rednecks, Crips, and bloods alone could've smoked those animals.
