I am in the background packet phase now. That questionnaire is no freaking joke lol. Some of the ex-girlfriends I had to put down make me cringe. But I was going to book a coaching call but it looks like all three of you are booked up through the month. I just have a couple questions about a couple things that might raise questions. I was originally going to post it on here but the explanation is too long.

Currently on week #8 of waiting for chiefs approval to receive conditional offer letter. Is this a bad sign? Receiving a routine phone call from the recruiter every 3 weeks with the answer of “ no news is good news “

I just had my interview with my background investigator, I remember something that I left out in all the paperwork I have filled out. It was an honest mistake, it’s been 9 years. Should I just leave it as is at this point or call her asap and tell her?

There’s a ton of departments that are extremely short staffed. San Francisco, LAPD, LA County, Sa Diego, Seattle PD, Phoenix, Chicago, and the list goes on and on, so it would be pretty hard to tell what department he’s talking about.

Unfortunately I think there’s a mass spearhead movement going on to subtly and psychologically defund and, “dismantle” police departments nationwide. The constitution is being attacked like no other and police are the first line of defense for peoples rights, “they” know this so I’m seeing a lot of techniques being implemented to demoralize and cause such a splinter between the community and police to a point where neither side trusts one another. I’m seeing many good cops that aren’t falling for the BS and propaganda as well as citizens, but there’s always that fine line of human error.

I agree 100%. Applied to a local department 2 months ago. Application accepted, passed the written with 90%, passed the physical, went in for the oral exam & they said I “didn’t score high enough”. It was 8 scenario based questions. They never told me what I did wrong or answered wrong. They never got to KNOW me. They said they’d be testing again in the fall, i might go for it again.

I think there needs to be sone serious reform in the recruitment, hiring and vetting process. For example, agencies should disclose the exact reasons why a candidate was disqualified or rejected for a position. By not disclosing the reasons, it leaves it open for interpretation and pepple can feel like they were discriminated against or something. Juat my.02.

They won’t do that 😂 Every time someone failed a background, and found out why they didnt pass the background investigation some attorney out there would find a reason to take them to court. It would be a field day for attorneys.

They seem very well organized, and they offer a Ride Along when the city police do not interestingly enough. Looking forward to it, and other ride alongs afterward as well as the journey into getting into this career. Ive watched all your videos, you're doing a great job, thanks!

Very insightful video, Frank. Do you think it would be beneficial for background investigations to be conducted and "held" by the State similar to how DODCAF adjudicates and holds security clearances for all servicemembers? Just as a Sailor doesn't have to go through a new investigation each time he or she PCSs to a new command, LEOs or prospective LEOs could have one BI done by the State that they can use for all of the agencies they apply to. Like a DOD clearance, the Background could be periodically updated. Seems to me this would greatly streamline hiring.

Good morning frank, love your videos I think I watched most of them and helped my get through my oral board and commander interview. I just got my background packet, my question is that I already completed it but it was for another agency and gave it to them on kinda of a pre interview It didn’t move forward to an oral board, physical I got no further contact from them. After that I found realization there was 2 particular questions I didn’t answer correctly because I didn’t remember it at the time and now I realized it and updated it. How much do you think this will affect the background interview with the current agency since I turned one in already? Thanks!

The psych exam was the last step for me. It was a 1000 question multiple choice test. Only spoke with an actual person for 2 minutes and they only asked what I am most and least proud of in life. Poly was outlawed in my state years ago. The test was easy to pass, just needed to take the time to read the questions carefully, I honestly don't see how you could fail this style psych test as long as you take your time and work your way through it carefully and smart. It was way more laid back than I thought it would be.

My problem is that I applied to two agencies, one a sheriffs department and the other my state’s highway patrol. I cleared for both and now trying to decide on what agency to go with. These two departments are my top ideal departments and both are great but ofc the state agency pays better etc.

The Sheriff's Office in my state (Pennsylvania) only does Patrol at the Courthouse and depending on the county sometimes other county buildings. The only other duties they have are serving arrest warrants, serving civil documents, conducting real estate sheriff sales, and they process our gun permits. You won't find them responding to calls unless something is going on at the courthouse. You won't find them doing Traffic Enforcement (in fact I don't think they are even allowed to). In Pennsylvania if the local municipality doesn't have their own department then the Pennsylvania State Police provides Police Protection in those localities.
