@averynhiell14 күн бұрын
Thank you for the question! (: I actually changed the titles only some weeks ago. Before, they had common names like ‘Fugue in E-Minor’. There were several reasons why I changed them: For one, they are easier to tell apart this way (at least for me). I had already composed a fugue in every minor key, so I was beginning to have titles like ‘Fugue II in E-Minor’, which I just found unaesthetic. Furthermore, I find proper names like ‘Echo Fugue’ more aesthetically pleasing than those very dry, matter-of-fact ones. I can also imagine that people are more likely to click on a video if it is called ‘Echo Fugue’ than if the title was ‘Fugue in E-Minor’. It’s just more interesting. The names are not unrelated to the fugues themselves btw, I put a lot of thought into every single title and they fit very well in my opinion. ‘Echo’ refers to the makeup of the subject, for instance, which sounds a bit as though the first four notes are echoed twice. Also, ‘Echo’ and many other names like ‘Puzzle’, ‘Clockwork’, ‘Déjà-Vu’, ‘Mirror’, etc. refer to some aspect of the fugal form in general (i.e., imitative polyphony). Hope this makes sense to you. I’m glad you like the fugue. (:

Wow! Truly masterful exploration of the fugue form! I noticed you use 2 8th notes of the same pitch in the bass hand at m36 (1:02) and wanted to give you the heads up that, as a pianist, that's kinda tricky to play. You're meant to hit the same note with a different finger to preserve the flow, so that makes the fingering tricky! Otherwise, insanely beautiful display of fugue. Your usage of retrograde and inversion as harmony truly shocked me! And in 5/8 too! Absolutely incredible, you're going to do amazing things Hiell ! :D
