Frolic Fugue | Original Composition in F♯-Minor

Музыка

Noteworthy features of this fugue:
→ in the subject entry starting at 1:01, subject and countersubject are superimposed on each other
→ at 1:15, a kind of sequence commences using the first four notes of the countersubject, concluding in a bar with the first eight notes moved one note lower, which then smoothly leads to the next entry

Cool rhythmic fugue subject! Liked the way the rhythm stumbles over itself between triplets and quadruplets in the beginning. Wished that idea could have been explored more toward the end as well, as a way of a rhythmic climax. Have to admit I'm not a fan of the tierce though. But that's just me, Bach does it all the time so why can't you.

Thanks a lot! (: Yeah, I seldom use triplets, so I wanted to experiment with them. I could certainly do more with them in the future. ^^ What exactly do you mean by “tierce”? The leaps of a third in the subject?

@@averynhiell Thank you very much n.n I have been finding current composers of fugues so I can learn from them and ask them some questions that I still have doubts about. How did you learn to write fugues? I've been listening to Bach and other composers for years, and I've also tried to write, but in the end I feel like I'm still missing something. I have a series of canons in which I feel I have no problems (with the canon), however, it is with the fugue where I find problems and difficulty in getting a decent piece out. I have uploaded some to my channel recently, I don't know if you would like to take a look and give your opinion and advice to improve n.n

Cool! This one is fun to listen to! I thought you were nuts, to throw that tripletr in there, but once I saw how you were using it, I realized that it was really very effective, in making a slight "ritardando" in the middle of all those sixteenths. And the ending was neat, the waqy it sort of ground to a halt. Good work. Are there sheet-music renditions of your music available? I'd sort of like to sit down at a piano and try a couple of your fugues out for myself.

@@Nico27901 I listened to the four pieces and I found them rather enjoyable. The harmonic and melodic language reminded me of Mozart. Some of them had a lot of repetition, perhaps you could work on introducing more variation. In some instances, you already demonstrated your ability to change a melody so that it sounds different but still recognisable. I think you have a lot of potential, way to go! (:
