This may sound quite bold but to me, counterpoint writing is more enjoyable and fun than harmony writing because there are at the same time horizontal and vertical dimensions so I have the feeling to get more from the music. This is what I like most in counterpoint. Anyway i am happy you enjoyed the piece !

Some similarities I could find between this great composition and some other works. 0:46 and 1:55 BWV 529 Largo, BWV 688, Capriccio BWV 826 2:06 Courante BWV 830 2:18 BWV 1080 Contrapunctus 8 2:30, 3:53 and more BWV 998, BWV 645, BWV 532 Prelude, BWV 539 Fugue, BWV 525 part 1 This applies to other parts of this composition where the same theme is heard. 2:47 found in quite a few of Bach's Fugues, Fugues of BWV 548 and BWV 542 for example. 3:24 BWV 988 Variation 18 4:37 BWV 864 Prelude. Also in the Fugue of BWV 542 but in minor and not major. 6:14 BuxWV 146 6:33 BWV 903 Fugue 7:26 BWV 927 This similarity is not explicit, but the length of notes and pattern is very similar those at the end of that piece.

Great meticulous work! I am impressed! We only have to consider that great masters also inspired and imitated each other. For example, Bach's work would not have been conceivable in this form without Buxtehude's influence and role model.

For a long time, I was convinced I would only hear good compositions with Bach. Where the value is in the notes itself, and not in how the notes are played; This is why Bach sounds good on any instrument from organ to voice, to guitar, to trumpet, to kazoo, to synth. I see the same here. I have not fully understood what "it" is, but it seems that you have understood whatever it was that Bach understood, that no one else understood, and I can hear it clearly in your music. If you are still active, please could you explain your method of composition, because it might be the closest thing to finding out Bach's method. If you are also willing to discuss, I would like to learn from you.

Tbh I can see your point here, I was thinking about similar things (which people find in Bach's music) before, it's a big topic, I mean, is it possible to write music with Bach's vibe but in contemporary style, melodies and harmonies, so many questions but not enough answers still

I am deeply moved by your comment. Thank you for taking the time to write; Regarding "it" I don't know clearly how to define it but maybe it is not something so musical. Maybe it is just something about knowing how to build musical sentences and lines that are coherent and flow well into one another. Maybe it is what makes Bach so good. Regarding my technique, I would say it is closest to "impromptu speech" than traditional basso continuo technique. I usually find a theme on the keyboard or sometimes it just pops in my head and I immediately write it down for safe keeping. Then I try to find and tape interesting melodies and episodes suitable for this theme. But usually it ends up bigger than expected as I like to integrate more elements than planned on the go, this is the reason most of my pieces are quite long, a bit like an overmodded game 😆.

It' certainly has a baroque feel, but there are a lot of little details that can be polished, which could change the piece from decent to great. I didn't count every example, but you have multiple parallel octaves (between alto and tenor in m. 213) or various voice-leading irregularities (the unprepared B suspension to A in the alto in m. 215). Or in the E major / C# minor areas where you have C-natural written instead of a "proper" B# (Left hand m. 63 and 71) .... Improvement on details like these can really make the piece shine more.

It's just constant sixteenth notes without barely any cadences. It's tiring to listen to you can barely hear any development of material. The difference between this and Bach is that every note Bach writes serves a purpose and has a point. This is just plugging notes wherever they fit, making like a musical spaghetti
