    I just bought these and had to look up instructions on how to cook them. Trick is to put all the seasonings and sauces in the bowl. As you're almost done boiling, add some if the water first till it's all blended and then add your cooked noodles

    yeah, that fugu version would be much more interesting obviously. we dont't have these around my parts (fortunately) i'm sort of interested in the whole reason why Nissin, aswell as several other big player brands, started producing these localized products. There are some weird import laws in both the US and the EU appearantly, where the good stuff like Nongshim and Samyang etc. have export versions for the west with crazy variations in the powder mostly... i remember posting on your vid about the nissin black garlic tonkotsu that in europe its artifical pork for example. with that said i kind of want to try these for some reason even though it more or less sounds like the worst idea for ramen ever xD

  • @thenoodlejourney
    @thenoodlejourney5 күн бұрын

    Yeah, there is quite a bit of restriction on meat imports/exports, even if it's only in extract or powder form, and because of the pork ingredients in Nissin's gimmick noodles like this one or Breakfast, they won't make it overseas. They like to pretend it's all about protecting people from diseases in foreign livestock, but I've heard that that's really just an excuse to show favor to domestically produced meat products instead. So the stuff made in Nongshim's and Nissin's US factories ends up exclusive to the US for mainly that reason, and the really fancy stuff from Asia rarely makes it to the EU or NA. This is why I really hope that the major brands can establish factories in other places worldwide so that everyone can get the products they want without any weird artificial flavoring compromises. Maybe someday.

    Question: after all the instant ramen you’ve had, what’s your number one / your favorite?

  • @thenoodlejourney
    @thenoodlejourney5 күн бұрын

    It's really tough to choose just one because there's so many different styles of ramen out there and I'm not always in the mood for the same thing. The ones that I think are the best in various categories are in my Top 10 video from a few months back. Probably my favorite flavor out of everything I've had so far is Marutai Kumamoto Black Garlic Tonkotsu, although I probably eat Nongshim Shin Black most frequently.

    Yep, I would NEVER buy a mix with dehydrated egg. I love the idea of the added protein, but let me add my own eggs. Replace them with some kind of dehydrated mushroom, they're sometimes a little tough but at least they taste good.

  • @thenoodlejourney
    @thenoodlejourney6 күн бұрын

    Agreed, I've seen a lot of people fawning over the dehydrated eggs on Ramen Bae's Facebook page, and my only thought is "Why?" I can see bringing Ramen Bae to a workplace where you might not have access to fresh eggs in order to ensure some protein gets in your noodles, but other than that one scenario I've never gotten the love for dried eggs.

  • @Pit_Wizard

    They seem to be out of stock right now, but I'll be keeping a look out for these. I would also love to see a formulation with at least no corn, it's such a distinct flavor that I find never blends with instant noodles.

    If it helps, I used an Amazon stock tracker plugin for Chrome in the past to monitor availability of Ramen Toppers. It's currently in stock as I write this, and it seems to come back every 2-3 days when it goes out of stock.

    Are you doing the beef ramen Bae my friend?

  • @thenoodlejourney
    @thenoodlejourney9 күн бұрын

    That's a good question. My default answer is that I'll review anything if enough people ask me, but I have been avoiding the Ramen Bae Beef variety for a few reasons: 1) I still have partially-finished bags all of six other Ramen Bae products in my possession and it's a bit daunting to add another one, 2) it's very expensive compared to the rest of their products, and 3) they're saying it's a limited run item, which means there might be no point in reviewing it if it's never coming back after this first run, because it may never be available again. You're actually the first viewer to ask me about it.

    Hey, you never know, you might enjoy it! Everyone's tastes are different, which is why I try to explain what I'm tasting as I go along and my rationale for the score. My tastebuds got completely overwhelmed by that Ramen Talk flavor, but others out there like the Ramen Rater in his review (www.theramenrater.com/2023/07/15/4535-ramen-talk-pepper-crispy-pork-noodles-china ) seemed to really like it. That one is pretty much the only one on the bottom 5 list that I'm willing to admit might be a "me" problem.

    I couldn't decide between trying this product and Nongshim's Kimchi ramen, and while I may likely try both eventually I am convinced after watching both of your reviews that I'd rather give this one a go first. Swaying factors: Yeah it's bullshit to say us whitey's might not like it because of our pallet. I love and really appreciate the flavors found in Asian foods. I'm curious what this one will taste like because as you said, it's not much like anything you've had before. Lastly, the sodium difference. I'm trying to eat healthier, but I would like a little somethin-somethin to scratch that craving itch for instant noodles, if you will lol. I do wish this was spicier, but I'm excited to try it yet. I need to better learn not all ramen needs to be Nongshim Black level spice to be a delicious while convenient meal. Super appreciate your reviews, they were EXACTLY what I needed. Thank you!

  • @thenoodlejourney
    @thenoodlejourney10 күн бұрын

    Thanks, glad I could help your decision! As I've tried more black bean sauce noodles, I find that Chapagetti is kind of a good "starter" to see if you like jjajangmen. It's definitely not my favorite jjajangmen anymore, but it's got a special place in my heart because it's what made me realize I liked an entirely new subcategory of Asian food I'd never had before. Plus yeah, you can't argue with the sodium level. If you end up liking Chapagetti, if you can find it where you live, give Paldo's Jjajangmen a try next (as long as you don't mind the sodium hike).

    My favorite way to eat these is with some stir-fried chicken and a soft boiled egg or two. Easily my favorite instant noodles that are widely available in the American market. Just tried this for the first time this week; It's already my favorite quick Ramen ever -- not starchy or over salty like the cheap crap. I toss in a dash of salt and a few drops of sriracha sauce for extra bite. Protip: Cook in a pyrex pot with measurements on side to make things quick and easy: microwave the 2 cups water first in pyrex for a couple minutes, preheat stove medium high while water is nuked, then it'll be instantly ready to simmer noodles for 4 minutes -- and since the Pyrex has a pour spout, you can use spoon to keep noodles in it while pouring water in your bowl and not dirty up strainer. Easy peasy. I use one that measures up to 1 quart, perfect size pot for a bowl of soup.
