This is the best song ever written in the history of music! No i'm exaggerating just a little bit I know but i really truly love the song. And when they played it in the cinema with all the photos and really showing what the song is about I thoughts of my family and cried. If i ever had to go down like it's described I will hold my wife and kids so strongly that the tie never could be broken for the minute it takes ❤️

Seems like you have summoned the Ghost fans. I'm biased, but this song has Tobias' signature all over it, from a musical perspective. Not only does he like to make lyrics that can be read in different ways like "hold you for the minute" ... it takes [for the flames to devour us]. It took me a couple of listens to get it, so I thought that was clever. Also the whole thing that the song was meant to be written from a 1969 perspective and he adds years to it (1984/2024). Musically I'm always impressed how Tobias manages to switch genres so effortlessly, while managing to turn them into these chatchy bangers without fail. At this point I'm so way past "Ghost is my favorite satanic metal band." These days I just want to take a seat, lean back and consume Ghost for the show it is and let Tobias throw his articstic vision at me any way he wants.

I didn't realize it until watching this video: I'm 100% convinced this song was created/inspired as a result of Ghost having Twin Temple open for them. The vibes are exactly the same. Anyway... My take on the "for the minute" ordeal. We're missing a couple keywords in that lyric: "...it takes." So I agree with Jennifer. It's not him abandoning anything. The premise is "if it ALL burns down" meaning there won't be anything left afterwards. There's also the secondary line of the "flames devour[ing] everything that we are." So whatever is coming is very final and complete in its end. And he'll be there for the minute it takes, which implies he'll be there for the entire duration, while suggesting whatever it is that's coming, it's going to be brief. That said: I've not seen the movie yet, but I'm aware of the context. However I don't think we need to be locked in to believing this is uniquely about nuclear war. Keeping in mind that this is written from the perspective of someone in 1969, he builds up to talking about the future (which is actually today) by talking about the 'insane' idea of fascism finally being gone. Of course with certain nazis still running around, that's far from the case. There are other ways in which this could "all burn down." And in that case, the minute might be a bit longer than intended, which could then extend the meaning of 'minute' to how it's used in the phrase, "Wow, I haven't seen you in a minute."
