Asami trained in classical ballet for 16 years and wanted to dance professionally and she was/is good enough to but was told by her ballet teacher that she would never succeed as a dancer because she is "too short!" So while I hate people that crush others dreams I want to say thank you to her ballet teacher for that because now we have this amazing vocalist/performer at the front of Lovebites!!!! If you want to see her dance and more piano react to A Frozen Serenade live 2021

Swan Song is a true masterpiece. Miyako is a gift from God himself to metal music. That much talent and beauty in one girl is really rare and special. She composes most songs for Lovebites, play piano and guitar, can play bass too, even drumms a little bit, wrote some songs too. She can do everything. She is The Chopin of Metal and one of the most talented musicians of this age and time. And Lovebites is still new band more or less. They are all incredible, but Miyako is most important member. Asami said something like: Every band needs to have MIyako, but only we have her. If they play this good now, imagine how good they will be in about 10 years. That is terrifying. These girls are pure gold, its a fact...

Miyako didn't get to play this particular piano until the day of this performance. She said the sound characteristics of the digital Roland were much different than the Yamaha Baby Grand that she normally plays... had to make some adjustments. Miyako is 33 yrs old now & started playing piano at the age of 3. She didn't pick up the guitar until she was 18, and she taught herself how to play because she wanted another challenge in her life. 😮 Miyako released an EP of piano covers on June 21st & will perform a recital in November. 😏❤️🎙🎸🎹🥁😎🤘P.S. nice reaction !

Thanks for the reaction! All Ladies (Miho, Haruna, Midori, Asami, Miyako) can play piano/keyboards. For example, Midori (blonde, guitar) has been playing the piano since the age of 2, Miyako (brunette, guitar) has been playing since the age of 3, Miho (bass) since the age of 5. Asami (lead vocal) is a ballerina. 'Etude Op.10, No.12' ( or 'Revolutionary Etude') by the Great Polish composer Frederic Chopin, which was written in 1831 and is dedicated to the Polish patriots who raised an uprising (1830-1831) against the Russian Empire, whose troops occupied Poland. 'Swan Song' ( lyrics - Asami / music - Miyako) from LOVEBITES third studio Album 'Electric Pentagram' (2020). For many centuries (starting from Ancient Greece) there is a legend, according to which swans, non-singing, "silent" birds, acquire a voice a few moments before death, and this dying singing of swans is amazingly beautiful. 'Etude' by F. Chopin and 'Swan Song' are dedicated to the warriors who died in battle. Therefore, at the concert, 'Etude' and 'Swan Song' are played together. In an interview given after the release of the 'Electric Pentagram' album, Asami (a former ballerina, studied classical ballet for about 16 years before becoming a singer) said that when she wrote the lyrics of the song, she was thinking about the famous ballet P.I. Tchaikovsky 'Swan Lake' . During the performance of the song, Asami imitates the Swan (hand movements). And in the final part (piano Miyako), symbolizing the death of the Swan, Asami depicts the dying Swan on stage. Because the camera at the end of the song is focused on Miyako playing the piano, Asami's "death of the Swan" was not captured on video. Asami added some Scandinavian mythology (Valhalla) to the lyrics. The attitudes towards death among the Japanese Samurais and the Scandinavian Vikings were very similar. For Samurais and Vikings, death in battle with weapon in their hands is a death worthy of a male a warrior. Death in battle is better than death from old age in your bed. All Vikings dreamed of dying in battle because then they could go to Heaven, to Valhalla (the Hall of those killed in battle) where they would meet God Odin and other Vikings who died in battles.

Music and arrangement by Miyako - piano & guitar; Lyrics by Asami - vocals. Miyako at 18 decide to go into metal music, so she got a guitar and a "How-To" book. Self taught and first riffs she played were from Metallica. There is a Guitar hanging in a guitar shop in Tokyo that was built by Midori, guitar. She had gone to a vocational school to learn how to build guitars. The Guitar is not for sale.

Great to hear the comments from musicians who actually understand what is involved in playing something like this. Thank you! Background for your viewers not familiar: Chopin was a Polish-born Romantic-era (1800’s) classical composer and piano virtuoso who lived most of his life in France. He is considered one of the great classical composers, specializing in highly technical works for piano. Miyako, who composes a lot of Lovebites’ music, is a professional-level concert pianist, and was originally going to make classical music her career. When she was 18, she picked up a guitar, and is now (quite obviously) an elite-level guitarist. She particularly likes the Romantic Era classical composers like Debussy, Dvořák and Chopin, as well as her stated favorite, Russian romantic composer Rachmaninoff. She composed “Swan Song” using elements of the New World Symphony (Dvořák) and Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor), with a passage from Rachmaninoff as the outro. Here she actually played the Etude as a prelude, but it’s not normally included in their shows.

Easily my favorite Lovebites song. There is so much emotion that runs through this entire performance - Miyako’s solo and the call and response section with both Midori and Miyako is stunning. And Miyako returning to close the song on piano is one of the most metal things I’ve seen on a stage 🤘

Great reaction guys! Miyako said she used both the motifs of the Chopin _and_ Dvorak's New World Symphony in the song. It is so cool to see *Miyako* calmly reach out and take her pick off of the piano and start playing guitar 10 seconds later - then back to the piano in 5 seconds and start playing arpeggios. I agree, *Asami's* fluid, expressive movements greatly enhance Lovebites' performances. She also writes almost all of the lyrics, so that gives her an edge in her presentation of the songs. While you can't go wrong with any songs by Lovebites, I explicitly second the recommendations of "Edge of the World" and "Frozen Serenande" in several other comments, also the one of "Break the Wall" (live version from 2020), so you get to know their Thrash Metal side, to which I would add the official live version of "Set the World on Fire" and (already mentioned in another comment) their latest live version of "The Hammer of Wrath" featuring their new bassist Fami. The last two are both to be found on their official YT-channel. As regards Miyako playing the piano, I support all the recommendations to check out her piano arrangements of different metal songs. If you should do the official video of her piano rendition of Helloween's "Eagle Fly Free", I also suggest (as someone else already did) to check out the original version first (unless you already know it) or at least the cover version Lovebites played, before listening to the piano arrangement.

The Chopin piece Miyako (guitar/keyboards) is playing in the intro is "Etude OP10, No. 12" known as the "Revolutionary Etude." In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, in what was called the "November Revolution" but ended in failure due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's agent presented "Etude OP10, No. 12" in Paris. Because of the agent's exaggerated publicity, people called this piece "Revolutionary Etude. Miyako composed "Swan Song" based on this "Revolutionary Etude" and Dvorak's "New World Symphony. Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics based on the historical background of "Revolutionary Etude" and inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite "Swan Lake. "SwanSong" is a requiem dedicated to the warriors who fought to reclaim their homeland, a masterpiece that only LOVEBITES could complete. In case you are wondering, Miyako started piano practice of "La Campanella" by Liszt.

There are always exceptions, but generally with todays hard rock and metal, Mastering and mixing techniques compress and brick wall limit the wav so the dynamics are removed completely. That’s why that’s why vintage sounding metal sometimes sounds better than today’s releases. (My opinion) 😁

@@FlameImperishable I think I know what you mean, modern metal is often less dynamic because everything seems to be cranked to 11 the whole time. With Lovebites this is different, you are right, even while they can suddenly explode right into your face in the middle of the song the general range of the dynamics is much wider then with other bands. Another band with an awesome understanding of this is X-Japan, but then Yoshiki is a fantastic piano player as well. If you hadn't reacted to them already, you should check them out.

oops! This is the correct link for "A Frozen Serenade" with [cc] lyrics in 1080p kzread.info/dash/bejne/pXmesJmdccuan84.html The link there now is 1080p but no [cc] lyrics (but that channel's playlist page has all LOVEBITES releases, visible playlists, 'unlisted' individual tracks (!) I didn't edit the above comment on the possibility that you put your 'heart' on it as a 'marker' to find again for the links. Your 'heart' would go away if I edited it.

Etudes are actually practice pieces for the musician. In this case it is meant to train the left hand. Because the left hand is often neglected when playing the piano.

Awesome reactions of yours. The beginning and the ending were Chopin but the main motif is Symphony New World. I desperetely want the super charming lady to try the pianist Miyako's personal album released a month ago Miyako, Etude Op 23. The album consists of six piano metal cover as etudes. I tell you Miyako's a genius. Those six tracks are audio but this one is a MV, Eagle Fly Free kzread.info/dash/bejne/X5xnpK6Lo5O-opc.html, and Lovebites as a full band covers the same piece as well kzread.info/dash/bejne/X5xnpK6Lo5O-opc.html. But my favorite in the album is Far Beyond the Sun Yngwie Malmsteen cover kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZYautLCimtHHe6Q.html. The original composition is very much like classic piece, it sounds as if Malmsteen covered on guitar Miyako's piano etude.

I find it even more astonishing that Miyako can play to that level on a piano that she apparently does not like the "feel" of, because it is digital. In the studio she much prefers a traditional "analog" instrument.

For this masterfully crafted song I prefer the live version from five of a kind over the studio version mainly because of the last transition into piano. I fell in love with a Wicked Witch, the song that is, and I can’t explain it, figure it makes a good suggest for reaction. Have fun, :)

This song gets me in the feels each time I hear it too Jason and Jennifer. I haven't read through all the comments, but I'm sure there are others who have suggested "A Frozen Serenade" along with "Edge of the World" from Lovebites since you both loved this one so much. There are quality live videos of both uploaded on the KZreads. Don't want to give away too much, but the intro of "Edge of the World" starts out with just Miyako on piano and Asami on vocals before being joined by Midori doing some beautiful melodic lead work.

well miyako is pretty much a fully trained concert pianist, her playing guitar as well as she does is out of that training and her challanging herself musically. Alot of the top female musicians in japan can play multiple instruments at various levels of proficeny. can pretty garuntee that if any of them actually decided to become music teachers they could do fairly well out of it and most of them can run rings around out the most current musicians in the west. i personally think if the west wants to have a chance against them long term they need to learn from them cause alot of the male musicians can play as well if not better than the woman can in japan.
