Giving a first hand perspective on techniques and tricks I've learned over the years of tinting cars. Everyone has different ways of doing things, and this is a process that has helped make tinting consistent and repeatable for me. I'm new to making KZread videos, so hopefully they get better and more interesting as time goes on.

You sir are the legend for such detailed video!
My car just got hit and my drivers side car door was totaled and this rly helped thank you!
I'm about to tackle my heater core. In retrospect is it necessary to undo the ac lines as well or do you think they could remain connected and still change the heater core?
I’m pretty sure you can get the heater core out without most of this disassembly. If you take down the trim in the driver’s side footwell you can see the heater core. It almost looks like it will slide out. I can’t tell you for sure, but look for a video on a 4runner heater core. It may give you some good pointers.
@@FPSTinter thank you so much.
@@VolvoGonzo could you reply to this when you do your heater core and let us know if it worked out "the easy way" or no? Thanks and good luck!
This is fantastic I'm watching a KZread video of a guy watching a KZread video. The cycle is complete. I've been rooting for you to get this thing out for two videos now
Hey man. Gotta use all of your resources. I’m not a mechanic, I just have tools, time, and a willingness to learn something new and save some money. Good luck with the project. It’s not that bad if you can stay organized.
Wiggle wiggle. God bless you, sir. Just bought a Gx470, and of course, the heater core is leaking. This series is extremely helpful
Appreciate the help and info!
Doing this exact job at work and your videos really helped thanks man!!
Awesome.
I gotta do this in next few days
I’m not going to say it’s a fun job, but if you stay organized it’s not that bad.
@@FPSTinter I’ve done heater core replacement on three different cars where whole dashboard had to come out, so I know what I’m looking at. However, it’s a lot of work
I wouldn't let this guy tint anything for me... Brake the door clips on a brand new car and I guarantee there will be trash under the tint on every window.
Bless your heart.
@FPSTinter Maybe try and do a better job?? Be a professional? Maybe get some training? No harm in admitting you're a hack and damaging customers' cars.
Made millions tinting. Bought a commercial property paid it off. Supported families for 13 years. Sold it with 4.8 stars over 100 reviews and it continues to be profitable for the new owners. I dint think I need your advice running a tinting business.
@FPSTinter I am sure you don't just glad your not hacking up people's cars anymore. Made millions ? Lol
Shop did $300-400k a year in sales for 13 years. Thousands upon thousands of happy customers. I’d be willing to bet that you’re just armchair quarterbacking.
Hello, Can you please make a video how to remove /replace the door trim mouldings (original nr 39819505) i noticed it starting to com off on the front driver side. volvo xc60 2017 Greetings Lars from Sweden
Unfortunately I haven’t been working on cars for the last couple years and don’t have access anymore. I’ve changed careers.
😂bro need youtube while making youtube video
It’s true. DIYers have multiple resources available to them when working on projects they’ve never worked on before.
Wondering if you could post or reply the dimensions of one of the boxes. Alpine tech support doesn’t have them, Crutchfield doesn’t…just trying to verify fitment for my truck?
I’ll try tomorrow. They are adjustable for width so if you have some room under your back seat they should fit most trucks. I think alpine used to have a list of all of the trucks they fit.
If you look at the owners manual on crutchfield the last page has some fit suggestions.
Just fixed my lil brother back quarter window!
Good job. I hope this helped.
Did you have any issues with rattling coming from the ported sides?
Actually on my second one, my first one from the video got stolen, but my second one I think the magnet of the woofer for the right side enclosure was hitting the wood by the magnet and making a rattle at higher output. I ended up pulling the sub and putting some closed cell foam between the magnet and the wood that seemed to solve it. No issue with the first one from the video.
Well I hope to never have to go this far into our GX....Luckily the FACTORY recall put in a new dash on our 03. I can honestly say I am watching your series because now looking at the blend door actuator on the drivers side.. I love the truck and have suffered through lots of maintenance issues.Suspension Air bags and electric shocks.. But it rides great. Yes We hear you breathing but ...I have a helper that says that it sounds like me doing BMW N Series valve cover replacements. You should have lots of comments....from viewers...maybe you do in the early ones. Just wanted to say I think I've been where you are now... I do have one technique I use besides the many pictures and videos... Yep i use magnetic bowls, zip locks, Sharpies and I have a dozen or more paint markers that I put dots on nuts bolts vacuum hoses....and even use them on where radiator hose clamps sit... Really helps..I can't watch it all in a day BUT i'm sure I'll look at the whole whole series if it decides to rain all weekend. Real good narration .. Thanks for doing this... I managed to get to the hvac stepper motors. Got to get the GX cool inside. It's my wife's back up vehicle when her OLD but absolutely great RX 350 decides it wants TLC. I don't like doing water pumps on that RX350 or Highlanders. The oil cooler issue on that RX 350 engine was done under warranyy to original owner. These two Toyotas are hands down the best cars I've had in 40 years except for an old BMW 2002 and a 69 Z28...But I got tickets in those cars. Also have a 97 T100 that's pretty trouble free...It needs a v8....Struggles pulling some trailers. Keep up the good work..Have a nice day .Pat
Thanks for watching. I loved my GX. I kind of regret selling it but I was able to landscape my back yard and pay off my truck, not to mention I’m out of room in the driveway for vehicles and the daily shuffle was annoying. I would like another one down the road. If you like your t100 and think it needs a v8, the first gen tundra is perfect for you. I had a 2000 that was such a good truck. My friend bought it and he loves it too.
@@FPSTinter I agree on the Tundra...the early one...I've done a bit of work on 2010-2014 and there's just alot that can go wrong. AND hard to get to.. I'll sell the GX when I sell our 22 foot boat..My knees are not liking waves in the ocean off the coast of NC so the boat may be going down the road this summer. BTW We also had Lexus put a warranty dash in our RX... I got both of these Lexus vehicles from original owners..friends ...I kept them going after the warranty was up....they both are in great shape....They both ride better than the diesel X5 that I should have not bought! Again, you put a lot of work in your video.....I have watched parts of it many times.. Thank you
Is the back the same?
Similar, but not the same. The back is grey glass. The front is solar green. Just adding a film to try and get them close to the same.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
4 ohm subs wired to 2 ohm
How does this not have more views. Awesome job
Sadly after I sold the company I haven’t had much time to make content so everything is just in limbo. I might be starting a new job though so I hope I can get back to posting some more useful stuff.
Thanks for the comment though
I was looking into something like this to fix the cracks on my GX. Thank you for taking the time to post.
That’s why I did it. We have a guy here that makes some really nice custom fit covers for $120 or so. If there’s one in your area and plan to keep it a while I’d go that. This worked well enough though.
What kind of steamer is that it’s not the same one we use to use
2000w Costway from Home Depot. Works pretty good for all kinds of things. I’d use the $50-75 Wagner ones at the shop and even the cheap wallpaper steamer with a brass air chuck screwed in to the top.
Thanks for the vid. What's the name of your squegee? I need to order one that's slim enough to fit in that deep door panel. I just did one of these Terrains with the two-stage method, but had small fingers near the front where the panel is raised. It's not bad, but I'm worried the film will fail after time. Told the customer to bring back if they ever have trouble, but I'm thinking bottom-loading is the way to do these GMCs.
That’s a Classic Yellow Turbo or dark Yellow Turbo. Be careful there’s some cheaper ones that are sometimes offered that leave rubber rub marks all over the tint and they are really hard so they don’t contour the glass well as you squeegee.
Appreciate the help brother. Hope all is well in new career.
So far so good. I still kind of miss tinting but the money is good and it’s fun doing something different. The benefits are also a lot better.
The sweeps on these are very tight to get out. I ripped one the other day trying to remove it lol
This is one of the gnarliest DIY's I've ever seen. What kind of camera are you using to film this?
GoPro on a head mount.
hell yeah dude thanks for making this!
I hope it helps some people.
Clay bar and buff it out and it will look new
I’ll try it.
Didn't see much difference.
I thought you were about to use the V8 juice 😅
How do you remember all 200+ bolts?
I’ve been working on cars most of my life so there’s that. I also group them together by sections when I remove them which helps break things down to maybe 5-6 bolts at a time by section. Lastly, it helps to do things all in one day. It gets a lot harder if you take things apart one week then try and go back 2 weeks later and try to put things together.
omg
Most of the time its not scratches but hard water stains.
Seems that way.
Try clr
Thank you for the video! Now I know how many times I’ll fuck up before I get it right. With the door windows loot
It’s not too bad.
Haha xyg the worst glass ever made
Thankyou !!!
Thank you for watching.

You don’t look 280. You must be really tall.
6’5” or so. I’m actually been working on coming down though. I got in to the 290s around 4th of July. Started a new route that wasn’t that much work, just sitting and snacking and pulling an electric Jack. Now I’m back to hustling and watching what I eat so it’s coming off. 3-4 days a week in the gym also. I need to do a shoe update but with the last route I didn’t put much wear and those carhartts have exceeded my expectations and I just can’t retire them.
@@FPSTinter gotcha. I just stared at GFS and my co-worker recommend keen boots and I wanted to see what other food service drivers were saying about them. I feel confident in my Decision to purchase them
So far they are my favorite, but the Carhartt are pretty good for all of the walking. I think what’s been helping is I have hand trucks with pull handles so I’m not pulling it out with my foot. Really seems to same your feet and knees. The only downside is I think I feel it more in my shoulder and elbow on the heavy stacks. Maybe I’ll try and get a video up of the differences. Seems to keep my shoes from getting beat up. We get a boot voucher from redwing and I use it, but for our work I haven’t found a shoe I think is any better than the Keens and they cost more. Good luck with food service. I think it’s a great job to have.
Man! Idk how you people are tinting these doors! I just tried this twice already and I keep getting a crease towards the edge on the outer part of the door. The side molding is tight as hell and I can barely fit my triangle tools in there. Is it me? I haven’t installed it from the bottom working my way up yet so I’ll have to try that and see. It’s pissing me off. I don’t want to work on any Lexus!😂
Sometimes Toyota weatherstrip gets like a sticky residue on it. If you wrap a triangle in a towel and run it through that can wipe it off. Also sometimes their weather strips shrink and bunch up in the corners so pushing out on the glass and lubricating the corner with slip solution can help.
Nice work! The Hyundai Tucson is now the best vehicle in its class by a mile. It’s not a base model though. It’s the highest trim Limited. 😉
Have you seen the new Santa Fe coming out? It’s pretty sweet.
@@FPSTinter Sure have. Even all of those Toyota and Honda fans that think they are still producing vehicles more reliable than the rest will be dying to get into one of those. I predict it will be the next Telluride and then some.
나이스!
Clay bar it
I’ll definitely give that a try. Clay bar is just magic isn’t it?
Did the clay bar give a noticeable difference after the compound? Or have you even tried it lol?
Was the black stuff on the thermal expansion valve like some sort of insulation?
I think it’s probably for noise since it’s a valve and likely ticks when it opens and closes. The black was the same like butyl sound deadening for car audio. Lexus likes to eliminate every noise so I bet it’s that.
Putting it all back together is how i struggle
Practice and it gets faster and easier.
Hey buddy, I know there's 3 wire connects up there. What's the one wire connect that's white and plugs into that small black box ?
Honestly I haven’t worked on cars in almost 2 years but I’d bet it’s an antenna amplifier or something.
Any idea how to order the brackets that are attached to the glass? Mine are broken and we can’t find the OEM part number to replace.
Unfortunately as far as I know, they come on the glass. You might be able to pop some off at a u-pull type place and glue them back on. I’ve got nothing better though. They haven’t changed the design in a lot of models and years though.
what a sucking video
I am now gonna attempt to use your video to gwt into my locked car, thank you lol
Good luck. I hope there’s something useful in there.
Will the hairdryer work?
No. You need to get around 700 degrees or more to shrink tint.
Thanks 👍
