Thank you! I got my dash out in about 45 mins today. I had the radio out before, so that may have sped up the process. Getting the crossbar off wasn't fun, but I got it all pulled in about 2 and a half hours. That includes swapping the heater core and evaporator. Tomorrow, I will reinstall. Your tip on removing the fititngs for the refrigerant lines under the hood was outstanding. Took 2 mins. Appreciate that tip. I have previously covered my dash with vinyl fabric and it looked okay but not perfect as I did it while it was still installed in the truck. Now that its out I'll do it again better.. if Inhad known it only took 45 mins to pull thr dash I would have done that last time I covered the dash

Was the black stuff on the thermal expansion valve like some sort of insulation?

I think it’s probably for noise since it’s a valve and likely ticks when it opens and closes. The black was the same like butyl sound deadening for car audio. Lexus likes to eliminate every noise so I bet it’s that.

Does this truck have rear AC. Looking to buy an evaporator for my truck and I have rear AC. Wasn't sure if it was the same one?

Mine did not have the rear AC. It’s been a while but for some I thought I remember a difference in the parts. That said I imagine 95% of the process is pretty similar. I had an Odyssey with rear air and I think that had its own evaporator and fan for the rear, I’m not sure if the GX would be like that.
