Thank you very much for this tutorial. I'm in Reno, Nevada with my dad who currently has late stage ALS. He can't use his hands or communicate with his voice anymore. He has been a handyman his whole life coming from Scotland. Needless to say I am too to an extent but not like him. We watched this tutorial together and were able to change the filter bc of how clear and concise it is with direction. I personally appreciate that it wasn't a super long video. We got our filter replaced and running first try with this video. I am currently running the third tank per your direction!💧

With old fashioned white gas/camping fuel/Coleman fuel, so expensive these days, you want to use automobile gas station gas, which works really well, but may burn a little dirtier and leave more residue, so you really need to know how to clean these. A can of compressed air used on electronics if you don't have a compressor, would work for tiny brass valves that damage easily. Pressure didn't seem to be holding well, but it did work eventually.

I reckon you could make that paper packing yourself. In the same way I made my own tubes for fireworks. Get a piece of wooden dowel, as near the outer size of the spring in your lamp. Cut some brown paper the height of the original tube and make it so you can roll enough to fill the space between the spring and the generator inner core. As you roll it paint the paper with some diluted PVA glue. Wait for it to dry and then test it around the spring and hopefully it will fit the generator too. The paper is used to centre everything inside.

I am a Water Treatment Specialist I have some helpful hints that I learned to help make your job easier 1st you can use your bucket as a table and lay the system on it's back on top of the bucket then crack open each canister or stage 1,2,3 saving you time and water spills on the floor then you can replace the filters & then tighten each one . 2nd A very important step that needs to be done when is you're flushing filter stage #5 you have to flush it separately into a bucket as well to remove all the carbon dust from that (Taste & Odor filter) before you reconnect it to stage #6 which is the Alkaline filter if you don't do that step/process then you have just contaminated your Alkaline filter with black carbon dust not good or healthy for you. It's ok to flush out filter #5 & filter #6 separately to make sure everything is flushed out and clean before you turn the system back on for regular use . That is why your Alkaline filter looks dark at the end of your video . I hope this helps everyone !

I don’t know whether to laugh, or cry at this video. It could have been edited down to less than 1/3 the length. Actually showing people how the Gen was cleaned, ie, in the camera frame is what most want to see, a grade 5 can figure out how to undo a couple screws+ a nut. Folks, pull the wire out, it may be gummed with black residue. Burn it off with a propane torch, & wipe with carb cleaner, or even pulling through steel wool. The trick to re-assemble, especially with lanterns, is to undo the nozzle jet, just grab it with pliers & undo. Push the wire in, then replace the jet. Especially with lanterns, where the wire is as thin as a hair, this will make it far easier to get the wire into the tiny orifice. If you just jam it in, it often doesn’t quite hit the orifice, & you bend the wire.

Since all that electronics is somewhat in the way, I can't get to the output of the Stage 3 filter as easily when I want to flush Stages 1 through 3, plus when I disconnect, the hose will be too short to reach to a bucket. Where to you buy the firm 1/4 inch tubing 21:54 so that the push on and clips will connect correctly (and no leaks!) for flushing? 🙂

The damn O rings on these is only thing I don't like about "Easi-Lite" models. The original valve with graphite packings will last for generations and if it leaks, a turn on the packing nut fixes it in seconds almost always. If it doesn't, it's usually because someone who didn't know what the hell they were doing butchered the machined sealing surface on the stem with pliers. Keep us posted on how those Chinese Viton O-rings hold up over use and time. When these aren't starting right, turn the valve quickly through its full range of motion several times to clean the gas tip and keep the flow going.

While you're looking for that screw, can you keep an eye out for my 10mm socket. I can't find it anywhere. Again. Don't take this too seriously. I still have my 10mm.

Nice job. Love those compact single mantle lanterns. Not sure what the purpose of that initial "fire test" without the mantle is for, the generator doesn't get sufficiently heated in that test. Did you notice the flames coming out of the bail socket on the left at 42:15? May need some leak tests on that burner assembly. I don't understand why so many Coleman folks want to wait so long before lighting. Light the damn lighter BEFORE you open the valve. What are you gaining by waiting a second? Every second that fuel is flowing without heat means several more seconds to get it running. In my opinion, you're just flooding the generator unnecessarily and extending your warmup. Maybe I'm missing something and there IS a good reason, but I have yet to hear one in the 45+ years I've been messing with these. Anyway good job getting this beauty cleaned up and running! Job well done!
