This guide is a mess. Multiple times have I been stuck at what to do. Had problem with levequests now I entered the Diadem but can't "quarry" due to not having some off hand tool. It'd be cool if you would include this, or mention the guide is mostly for veteran players...

Wuk Lamat, to me, is all of Narutos most annoying traits dialled up to 11. I could not stand her. Plus, the story was filled to the brim with filler that it killed any of the good moments it had. They dropped the ball so many times for the sake of extending the story time.

i have a feeling this is influenced from the western culture of things atm, and making everything fluffy and not offensive. i already had an inkling from the trailer that this expanse was going to be very meh and now im glad i didnt buy it and wont be missing much. i really love my hardcore but ill just wait til the next dlc

I've decided to throw in the towel and wait until I REALLY want to play final fantasy before coming back to this game because I'm just absolutely bored to tears. I rather like Wuk Lamat, but the pacing of the story and the actions we're doing are just so boring and so overly explained with a million cutscenes that I just... I just can't! I'm sorry it's too much, ARR broke up all this stuff with questing but this is just a really boring visual novel where you haul ass ever 5 minutes. I honestly feel like if you were just set loose to explore these zones and level via sidequests or fates, having it be MY choice to go explore and engage with what I find interesting, then looping back to the end of a zone to engage in a short story segment, would have been a breath of fresh air instead of what we have now. This story would have hugely benefitted from some freedom, because what was supposed to feel like a vacation feels more like a job than any previous expansion... EDIT: Elaborating on my idea, basically- What if the cultures, instead of forcing you through a hyper specific 2 hour long quest chain where things are explained to you like you're playing an educational game, you were instead asked (in essence) "Hey, go complete 5 sidequests out of a set of 20 you can choose freely from or explore the zone and get to X level and then we'll do a (massively shortened version) of the task you need to do to get your keystone!" THAT would feel like a vacation, dropping obligations and letting us run loose. I can't believe for the first time ever that I want FFXIV to be MORE like WoW

Single items!?! If anyone is putting single items up on the board for materials (lumber, leather etc.) they’re mad. Not saying you need to or should put up a stack of 99, but like stacks of 10 or 20…. If you’ve got enough retainer space to put single materials up you’re either; not selling enough stuff, or you’re paying for 6/8 retainers 😅 Also, if you’re putting something up for sale more than 1/10/100 gil cheaper than the current items, you’re killing off the market and losing yourself money. Always check the price and only undercut a little. The number of stuff I’ve seen where people are undercutting on leather or something by 3,000 Gil per item is insane

Dawntrail story is utter garbage. Its like watching shounen manga poorly written by someone who doesn't even know what manga is. The character lores r poorly written, till the end u will never understand the antagonist motives only to find out it was daddy issues. It was terrible.The expansion started off fine, midway it starts to annoy you, by the end it becomes unbearable so much that you want to burn Tuliyollal into ashes, that's how foolish the story writing is. Dungeons r great tho and the Music 10/10.

I think one missed mentality. Is that maybe one of the reasons the queen didn't just jump into another body or didn't? Just not worry about her safety is because most of the robots are not in her control. Temporarily speaking, I think it's heavily implied or at least it shows that when Lamatis brother aserts direct mikitary control, she is heavily limited by the bosies she can use. Sure, you can still argue that if she "dies" It doesn't matter but it does disable her and keep her out of the events where she's being shown. She is very helpful and useful with rearranging the area and helping keep people safe, even if she can't directly combat any of her robotic forces

I agree with 99% of this video. Yet one thing I couldn’t help but notice whilst exploring Living Memory, is that we were sort of retracing Emet’s path in the life he had to live post The Final Days. He sent us on this path and yet, we are in the same position he once was. Where he was surrounded with all these different people, he had to come to terms with the fact he will be the one to destroy them for the sake of his own people. I’m not sure many noticed this parallel whilst exploring this area and I believe its partly because there is practically 0 mention of anything that took place in Endwalker which I feel really was a poor writing choice.

The soundtrack was so bad this time around. 1. The music for Tuliyollol doesnt fit the vibe at all. The city is Aztec/Mayan/Mesoamerican. But the music for it is Jazz? Swing? Casino at Vegas? 2. Theres so many reused songs/themes in this expansion from ARR. Come on, youve been reusing these same tracks for 10+ years!!! 3. The tracks that are "new", arent quite new either, because most of them do callbacks (lift a melody) from a previous song. Its like Soken couldnt be bothered to write a new melody so he just grabbed one from Shadowbringers or Endwalker, stuck it in the song, and called it a day. This is fine, if the callback has any relevance to the area, but it doesnt.

The logic behind Otis' sacrifice for Sphene when she can just swap bodies is purely an illogical and irrational desire to protect no matter what. He has this extreme guilt when the real Sphene died so he just reacted upon his irrational illogical instinct to make up for it. This has been shown in fiction before where some really didnt need to take a bullet for someone who ultimately could survive it just because they didnt wanna see the person harmed period.

Honestly as much as I love Wuk Lamat, I feel like the expansion would have been better off with a bit of time away from her. I mean Krile has such a huge part in the story (according to the lore), but honestly she could have not been there at all and the story would have ended up mostly the same. Also the second half was a slog for me and should have been post patch content. I personally think the expansion would have been better off being completely about Wuk and struggle to become the next Dawnservant. It would have given so much more time for her to grow, and for other characters to shine who should have (Krile). I'm not even a Krile fan, but I'm disappointed how she was hyped up in the patches leading up to Dawntrail, only to be side lined as soon as everything kicks off. On a more positive note, I'm kind of glad the WoL took a sideline to be a mentor. Its refreshing. While we arn't the driving force this time around, its clear that without us things would fall apart (as per usual). Important, but in a different way.

Early access player here and I absolutely love it so far. I only started playing FFXIV this year too so I had to cut through 10 years worth of content in months in order to reach the point in the MSQ. I stopped playing at the 6.55 quests so I could have a seamless transistion between the new content and it actually felt like it was always there; Square-Enix is top notch in transitioning between expansions.

They kept billing dawntrail as the "vacation" expansion, and to me personally, our time in Shaaloani (or however you spell it) was the only time where it felt like we were just kinda vibing. Just going somewhere and helping/interacting with folks along the way. In that sense it's actually my favorite zone in the expansion (or maybe also because it's based on Texas, where I live?). Honestly my thoughts on DT are basically the same as what you've said here other than that. Kinda disappointed about the MSQ, but I've been really enjoying the launch from an mmo-standpoint

I thought the Otis thing made sense? He completely lost his personality and free will after Zoraal Ja’s order. it seemed that he was acting on programmed protocol to defend the queen at all cost as if it was the actual queen. I remember she said she couldn’t stop the robots by overriding their commands herself upon entering solution 9, so i assumed it also meant she couldn’t freely transfer her consciousness to a new body at the time and if her body would have died at that time she’d have been stuck in a limbo until the order to execute all citizens was over. That’s my interpretation of it and why i thought it made sense

Strongly agree with everything you said, especially about certain cutscenes not being necessary or information being rehashed, and everything you’ve said about the characters. I was also displeased with Zoraal Ja’s character starting out with, “I’ll show everyone how terrible war is firsthand so that they crave peace” but having that dropped and changed out of nowhere to “I want to raze the world to the ground.” The shift was completely unbelievable. I also found myself wishing that some of the cutscenes turned into instances instead, even though I don’t love them either, just so I can play the game instead of reading cutscenes. For example, the train breaking in to vanguard could have been a shooter instance since we were manning the cannons. How neat would that have been? The amount of voice acting was so inconsistent too, and at multiple points I was getting really tired of reading the text and wished the characters were speaking instead.

look Wuk is a good character. but MY GOD EVERY SINGLE FUCKING QUEST WAS "Go TaLk To WuK KeK". she is a good chracter, she is not DOMINATE NINTY PERCENT OF THE TEXT IN AN FULL EXPASION GOOD. im also dissapointed that the main story could have easily been mistaken for a B plot in a random television show as well.

This is an old video HOWEVER, because of the new Xpac some low pop servers are granting 100% experience right now plus other rewards if you transfer to them or make a new character on that server/cluster. Just hit lvl 30 on a new character and got handed 1 mill Gil, got 10 feathers of some type at character creaetion and 100% experience the entire time.

how to make gill, 1) be a youtuber 2) tell people to do something like stockpile materia 3) sell all your materia but tell nobody thats how your making your gil = profit. Need a material for your money making craft? 1) be a youtuber 2) tell people about how to farm the material you need 3) wait 3 days for stock to pile in the auction house 4) buy all the materials you need in bulk and at a reduced price because tons of people are now farming it and tell nobody you need said material for your gil making = profit

I've been doing a mix of everything as I've been going through the MSQ. Started with getting my gatherer's up a bit and over-gathering what I needed and selling the rest at huge profits which more than covered what I couldn't get myself in the first few days. The world travel ban was especially profitable for sweeping up deep up undercuts and reselling in desirable stack sizes.

Tip - you can turn in gatherer collectibles at any collectible appraiser, not just Solution 9. I've been taking msq kinda slow, but doing a fair bit of gathering and crafting, and I've been turning things in at Radz at Han :)

Right, I was waiting for Solution 9 because you need to do a quest there to unlock the rewards, rather than the collectable appraise. I wanted to use the scrips on Folklore items and Materia instead, but if you'll be capped again because of timed nodes I suppose it won't matter much

I've always found the game's story to excel more at high concept stuff than things like pacing, dialogue, and character development. I honestly rather enjoyed Dawntrail's story in the moment, even though parts were lacking, and thought they did the high concept stuff really well actually. Emet bid us to take this journey, knowing full well what we would find.

Strongly agree with everything you said, especially about certain cutscenes not being necessary or information being rehashed, and everything you’ve said about the characters. I was also displeased with Zoraal Ja’s character starting out with, “I’ll show everyone how terrible war is firsthand so that they crave peace” but having that dropped and changed out of nowhere to “I want to raze the world to the ground.” The shift was completely unbelievable. I also found myself wishing that some of the cutscenes turned into instances instead, even though I don’t love them either, just so I can play the game instead of reading cutscenes. For example, the train breaking in to vanguard could have been a shooter instance since we were manning the cannons. How neat would that have been? The amount of voice acting was so inconsistent too, and at multiple points I was getting really tired of reading the text and wished the characters were speaking instead.
look Wuk is a good character. but MY GOD EVERY SINGLE FUCKING QUEST WAS "Go TaLk To WuK KeK". she is a good chracter, she is not DOMINATE NINTY PERCENT OF THE TEXT IN AN FULL EXPASION GOOD. im also dissapointed that the main story could have easily been mistaken for a B plot in a random television show as well.
Wuk Lamat overstayed her welcome. This expansion should have been us going Indiana Jones exploring the new world and through that they do world building. Not like this.
By far the worst expec. Now i miss Lyse in Stromblood. For the fist time i cut a play time in the last zone because it was so boring.

This is an old video HOWEVER, because of the new Xpac some low pop servers are granting 100% experience right now plus other rewards if you transfer to them or make a new character on that server/cluster. Just hit lvl 30 on a new character and got handed 1 mill Gil, got 10 feathers of some type at character creaetion and 100% experience the entire time.
how to make gill, 1) be a youtuber 2) tell people to do something like stockpile materia 3) sell all your materia but tell nobody thats how your making your gil = profit. Need a material for your money making craft? 1) be a youtuber 2) tell people about how to farm the material you need 3) wait 3 days for stock to pile in the auction house 4) buy all the materials you need in bulk and at a reduced price because tons of people are now farming it and tell nobody you need said material for your gil making = profit
I've been doing a mix of everything as I've been going through the MSQ. Started with getting my gatherer's up a bit and over-gathering what I needed and selling the rest at huge profits which more than covered what I couldn't get myself in the first few days. The world travel ban was especially profitable for sweeping up deep up undercuts and reselling in desirable stack sizes.
A perfectly fine story very poorly executed.
Tip - you can turn in gatherer collectibles at any collectible appraiser, not just Solution 9. I've been taking msq kinda slow, but doing a fair bit of gathering and crafting, and I've been turning things in at Radz at Han :)
Right, I was waiting for Solution 9 because you need to do a quest there to unlock the rewards, rather than the collectable appraise. I wanted to use the scrips on Folklore items and Materia instead, but if you'll be capped again because of timed nodes I suppose it won't matter much
I've always found the game's story to excel more at high concept stuff than things like pacing, dialogue, and character development. I honestly rather enjoyed Dawntrail's story in the moment, even though parts were lacking, and thought they did the high concept stuff really well actually. Emet bid us to take this journey, knowing full well what we would find.

Just smiles and family. I agree so so so much on all your points. So many contrived decisions, exactly like a poorly written anime. They need to hear our feedback cause the writing of dawntrail was inexcusably bad for a big part.
The train ride could also be an instant to kind of save shalooani which had 0 substance as well mostly.
