Hello, I have the GBRF 66 from Accurascale. I've given it a run in and a basic test and I have been very impressed so far. I am going to give it a proper go tomorrow which I am looking forward to. My only criticism is that when you remove the body to fit drivers you have 4 or 5 very fine bits of detail which kept catching on the chassis as you put the body back on. I am not sure they are really needed and I found it made more awkward. As for the movement, sound and build quality out of the box I can't fault it. Tim

@colwichjunction3366Ай бұрын
Hello again Chris It’s all bashed up out of Scalemodelscenery kits & the Dapol OHLE masts, these can be cut up & modified quite easily - plain old super glue does a really good job of holding any mods together. The paint I’ve used is by a brand called “Testors”, not sure if you can get them in the U.K.? I travel to the U.S quite a lot & pick them up when I’m over there…The colour is Aluminium, it’s an enamel paint. Good stuff if you can get it, although I bet there are other U.K. manufacturers that do something similar. The verde effect on the registration arms is from a (Posca) felt tip pen! The older type of WCML here at the real Colwich has all gone this colour. I’ve pretty much made it up as I go along… The other end of the layout needs doing, so far I haven’t looked at the new Westhill Wagon Works OHLE I’ve heard it’s good⚡️if not expensive compared to my kit bashed versions. Thanks for watching, hope that helps👍 Cheers John b🤒

I have just the one, 66001 ok I paid over the odds, and didn't mind doing as it is absolutely amazing! It comes in a fantastic box with the EWS thunder flash livery plastered all over it. The attention to detail is incredible, now the overall Red is far to light and stands out against all the other makers. Then i saw a piece on the RM web, it states that the first 66001/002 were initially turned out in a much brighter red and a photo of 002 supports that. Also the side and roof radiator grills are painted Red! And again that was correct too initially. The sound at long last is absolutely spot on and i have a feeling that this 66 is going to be a total winner. I did a short running session on my channel last week if you have a moment to view it. Your DRS 66122 ex db also looks and sounds absolutely spot on, a nice little running session which i enjoyed. I think the container wagons are Dapol….ive put so much grime on them I can’t tell 🤣
Great share
Thanks for taking a look👍
Nice one John! Cavalex 56 is superb in every way 😃👍
Yes it certainly is, the benchmark for all others to match or beat? I can’t wait to get another one! Cheers Darrell👍
Lovely little running session there, the sound is on another level I have 56049 and ordered 56202 Peco can't wait!
I think I might have to order another, the detailing of working fans is just another level too. Thanks for watching & commenting👍 Cheers John b😎
@@colwichjunction3366Cheers John think Rainbow railways north of the border as some left! Also pre ordered 56105 Colas from Rails of Sheffield, thirty pounds deposit seals it.
Absolutely love my Cavalex 56's with the best sound in the business and still think they are the current benchmark for others to follow including Accurascale. The Class 60 releases from both Cavalex & Accurascale will be very interesting.
Yeah I tend to agree with you. The sound is amazing, mine has a sound chip & speaker from Roads_and_Rails as I missed out on the factory fitted version. I have a 60 on pre-order from Cavalex, but not one from Accurascale… I am probably in the minority, but 60s aren’t really my thing, don’t know why? I’m definitely looking forward to the model though👍 Thanks for watching John b😎
What livery is your 08 in?
Hi, I think it’s meant to be GWR green, the loco was or might still be resident at Long Rock depot Penzance. I got it second hand the only reason being, because I like the colour! The real loco looks like it is kept in a better condition than mine! Cheers John b 😎
Great video and layout.
Thanks so much for taking a look. Unfortunately since I posted the last video I don’t think I’ve had time to even get up into the loft to run trains or do anything on the layout. That’s life I guess🤷♂️ Cheers John b 😎
You have a lovely layout
Thanks for stopping by to take a look. There’s plenty still to do & I’ve recently been distracted by O gauge which isn’t helping! Cheers John b 🥸
I think this is the first time i've seen your layout but it looks great given me lots of ideas
Thanks for taking a look, I get most of my ideas from watching other channels along with my daily dog walk along the canal which runs alongside WCML. I’ve still got one end of the layout that needs to be completed, so there’s lots of work to do. Cheers John b 😎
Hello, very very nice scenery, and locos. Where can I get these catenary gantries? Regards.
Hi The gantries are from @scalemodelscenery & the registration stems are from Dapol - I combine the two kits to make the overheads⚡️ Hope that helps John b 😎
Thank you very much. ❤
Magnificent catches of the model trains coming by and pass, I like it 5 stars. Thumbs up. Keep up the perfect work, my friend, just liked and subscribed, Greetings from Portugal to the UK .
Ah Portugal 🇵🇹 my second team!!! ⚽️ Thankyou for taking a look at the railway, glad you like the layout. Cheers John b😎
@@colwichjunction3366 oh yeah.

@@colwichjunction3366 in Portugal, we have diesel-electric locomotives that have the same engine sound and thrash as the Class 20s: the CP 1400s.
Yeah I’m sure I’ve seen them on my Instagram account👍
Very nice. This is the first of your videos that I have seen. Subscribed. I’ll be back later to check out your earlier stuff. Love the crossover with OODave, excellent. Take it easy with the COVID.
Hello Duncan thanks for taking a look 👀 Sorry I’m a little late getting back to you I’ve been off grid for a couple of days, covid really has knocked me off track, so to say! Fair play to 00Dave for adding a much needed injection of humour to the hobby (especially the KZread side of it) although I love the serious modelling side of things, it doesn’t hurt to be a bit daft now & then. Cheers John b 🤒🤧
Nice ladder man was asked to help me rebuild my railway shed no sign of him yet . Have subbed and yes 00 Dave best on the tube
Oops looks like I missed replying to you! Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at the layout. Ladder man is definitely in demand in the modelrailway world now, he’s getting a reputation for quite a few different reasons😆 He hasn’t been seen round here since the video was shot and he was captured lineside checking out my wagons! Hopefully he’ll get round and sort your shed out soon! Cheers John b 😎
Loving that mini pickup by the way! Wanted one so bad when I was about 18 Be a fortune nowadays
Mega rare, my mates farm had one we shared it when we passed car tests, nowt like turning up to a village show dance in White jeans getting out of a farm mini pick up 🤣
Excellent showcase of getting the best out of your new Accurascale 66 John! Hopefully mine will be waiting for me once I’m back from holiday, that’s unless ladder man hasn’t had it away and ends up on Liberty Junction with that Double o Dave fella 🤣
😆keep an eye on your delivery date, not sure what that Ladderman is upto? I think he’s out scouting to see wether there’s anything going spare… That will be a nice box to open when you get back home, hopefully you won’t be disappointed, have you gone for a sound fitted version?
Yeah got my email to say it’s on its way so I’ll be checking cctv at home to keep an eye out for ladder man intercepting my delivery 😅 it’s the prostrate cancer gbrf sound fitted, 7/8 of my hattons 66’s are sound fitted with a few different sound files and looking forward to seeing how this one compares to an already awesome sound 😃👍
@darrelldeltic807 - you will be the one to compare the sound file then! I started 5/6 locos up the other day & the noise was pretty loud…dare you start all of your 66s up at once!? That I’d like to hear🔊👍
@@colwichjunction3366 might just have to do that John 🤣😊👍
You guys are brave talking about postal deliveries - he’s got contacts you know on the inside 😄
That's an impressive layout
Thanks for saying, I always say the bits I show on here are ok…. Some of the bits you don’t see aren’t 🤣 Cheers John b😎
Fantastic layout and super smooth operation. Dublo Dave said he took Ladderman on holiday to Devon but I reckon he was creating an alibi. Hmmm Devon … well known for yellow pudding sauce. Take care on the COVID thing, it’s not a cold, nasty thing that lingers for ages. 👍
Yeah Ambrosia, it all links in! I’ve enjoyed (if that’s the right word) having a few moments spare to run a few trains in isolation. The sound file in the new loco is really good, the 37s & the Cavalex 56 are all superb sounding machines, not really sure which one is top for me??? I’ve just returned to work after the latest bout of COVID, but I’ll be honest my energy levels aren’t great. It’s definitely here to stay unfortunately, I test when I’m not feeling well as my Dad is 91 & I do shopping & stuff for him so I’ve got to be careful. Anyway thanks for commenting & glad you enjoyed the running shots👍 Cheers John b🤒
Subscribed, ladderman at his best 😂.
Yes he’s certainly taking the model Railway world by stealth! 😆 Cheers John b😆
Nice model from them. I look forward to trying out the Accurascale Class 60 in OO that is coming in 2025.
Me too, pity they’ve announced another 60 after Cavalex have already committed… I’ll be honest I’ve never been a massive fan of the 60, but I’m slowly warming to them. There’s a Cavalex one on preorder, and I’m sure I’ll be tempted by Accurascale as well. There’s a great line up of liveries, I fancy Coal Sector for my HAA’s Thanks for watching & getting in touch👍 Cheers John b😎
Did ladder man change loyalty from dave over at liberty junction or did dave fire him for been lazy my 66763 was a bit tetchy on starting off on dcc and it sorted out itself after a few seconds of running and ran sweet after a full running in
Hi, Lucky for me, those lovely sounding Class 66's aren't early diesel BR green period............Phew my bank balance is safe. I agree they do sound the most like a 66 of any I have seen with sound, so well done Accurascale.
Mmmmmm the bank balance does keep taking hits! It’s quite an addictive hobby isn’t it, I do have to stop myself buying some of the new steam releases, although I’m not a fan of Hornby the 2MT looks stunning & apart from the gimmicky lights, the black five looks pretty good too🤔
Hello, I have the GBRF 66 from Accurascale. Tim
Hi Tim, yeah there are a couple of bits that need to be treated with care. It’s a lot easier to deal with than the previous Hattons version though. I’m very pleased with it out of the box too, I’m planning to give it a bit of weathering next, nothing too heavy though. I hope your full on run went without any problems 👍 Cheers John b 😎
Basically I sent Ladderman to assess your loco situation, see if there’s any scrap ones he can bring me back - like that 37409 I’d like that one 😉 He didn’t get arrested either that was just a cheap body double that James hired for his video. Nice siding mate it’s all looking really good, you could have done a layout tour being as though you’ve had man flu ! 😆 Ps did you go semi Yorkshire accenty at one point it was hard to tell 😄
Was it semi Yorkshire or Welsh/indian, I can’t tell! I just sound rough as…. I was hoping a custard tank might have appeared on the layout, but I haven’t seen one yet! I must get round to doing that layout tour, although I’d love to rip all the fiddle yard out! Because that’s what it is, a bloody fiddle everytime I use it!!!!😡 Thanks for watching I’m off to practice that deception technique you were on about. Cheers John b🤧
Better get a full check done on all your rolling stock, John. Especially if any were carrying Dylington Custard, he's got form on that score. Him and his mate Dodgy Old Dave, from taking the Liberty Junction. Great video, with some well decent locos. I hope you shake off the covid soon, I'm not a fan of covid. It floored me just after the first lockdown and put me in hospital, horrible. Anyway, another enjoyable video ...cheers James 😁👍
Breaking news! Ladderman has been spotted at Redshed Lane TMD! A lovely layout there and great to see the all new revamped 66, in this case ex db now DRS, a great running session there, at long last we have the definitive sound! It's spot on, i know i hear them every day! Very dissapointed that my friend Jim at the Locoshed in Manchester still hasn't recieved his order, looks like next week. I did come by the Accurascale limited 66001a few weeks ago and it blew me away! Will have to do some swaps but cant bring myself to part with any of my ten Hattons versions so will have to be a few Bachmann 66s. Really enjoyed your review and if i spot Ladderman again you will be first to know! Have a great weekend, really enjoyed cheers Nick.
He’s like some kind of modern world phenomenon that ladderman! I think Accurascale have so many models to get shipped, no wonder! The sound fitted Hattons Original is impressive, this sounds perfect as far as I can tell. Thanks for watching & commenting👍 John b🤧
Any motor issues?????? Some customers had issues with their Accurascale class 37 motors!!!! One KZreadr(TORRIDON ROAD BY PETER DIXON) purchased 3x accurascale class 37’s n all FAILED.
No, non so far. I’ve currently got 6 Accurascale 37s - 1 class 92 a manor & now this class 66 no issues with any of them. I have heard some have had issues with particular models, but to buy three & have them all fail seems unlucky…. Cheers John b😎
Excellent 😊
Got to love a 37! Thanks for watching Cheers John b😎
Is it not just Hattons tooling that Accurascale have tweeked.
Nice - super nice Hope they sell out soon or I’ll end up buying one 😂😂😂

I'm torturing myself watching AS 66 vids! 😂 I have one on pre-order so I'm hoping it might appear in the next few days. If this video is anything to go by, they look (and sound) stunning!
I’m sure you won’t be disappointed, they’ve done it again I reckon! 👍🔊
When sat at idle does it sometimes rev up to keep up with the compressor?
It does change revs when idling, during these running shots I was messing about with the drive hold function & notching it up & down, so it may not sound quite right for the speeds… I hear the real things pass here everyday, sometimes they’re held at a red short of the junction, so when they do a standing start with a full train it can be impressive 🔊
Looks and sounds really good
Excellent just waiting patiently for my 2 to arrive 👌

@@colwichjunction3366 I’m not sure what other liveries are left of this cool looking loco, I guess we will see in the potential second run in a few years, I forgot that the sister company has runs to complete as well, my fingers are still crossed that we will see an HST from them in a few years and maybe even a class 08 or even a class 73 or 58.
Nice! I need to win the lottery 😆 sick of being skint!
Me too mate! At least this one’s paid for on a pre-order. I’ve got another, yes another 37 on the books too, why do I need another??? The Colas one….., so yes it’s needed, perhaps you could have a word with your new mate Richard see if he could pas one over my way. 😁🤭😁 hope Richard comes through for me! you got the accurascale one? (Colas) I need wagons and all sorts but I’m hopefully at the end of the skintness!
@doubleodave - I’ve got the colas on preorder….the older Bachmann version isn’t bad either🤔
@@colwichjunction3366 I really like the Bachmann - they just need better speakers and they’d be on par to me 👍
Hello mate love your videos love the look of your layout which I've commented on before but one question I haven't asked is where do you get your portal catenary from and is it 3D printed, scratch built, card or plastic, etc, and I love the look that you've given to your masts i'd be grateful if you could let me know the type of paints that you've used on those??, many thanks.
Got two of my four today big thumbs up from me cheers Al
Nice one, i suppose the acid test is standing it next to the HO scale models of the 66 by ESU & Trix / Marklin one.
Thankfully I don’t have either of those models, so I’ll leave that to someone else….👍
Good luck and i think you should have a couple more even if it means doung some swaps, I guess i might have to osrt eith a couple of my Hattons 66's although they are pretty impressive. Cheers Nick.
