Lovely shots around the ‘Cannock Chase’ corner, when stock’s moving it’s hard to tell which manufacturer it’s from. I do like those factory weathered ones but I’m sure you’ll really go to town on them. Always pleasant to watch your layout 👍

Ah thanks, I like “Cannock Chase corner!” I might pinch that 😄 Yeah when it’s such a long rake can you really tell? The factory weathered wagons are better to look at in my opinion I will need to work on them as a couple have had some of their Barry branding removed. I mentioned on another comment a few of the HAA’s are the same number & I know that would really bother some, but I’m not too fussed really. Thanks for taking time to comment, always appreciated. These wagons are much nicer than the Bachmann ones I have. I have a rake of 36 Bachmann wagons with a mixture of factory weathered and pristine cars. I hesitate to calculate the cost to build a full rake of recently made wagons.

Yeah the cost would be astronomical! I’m gonna let you into a secret, some of this recently acquired stock have the same running numbers! (Don’t tell anyone, I don’t want the rivet police on my back🤫) Seriously when the train is running, does it really matter which manufacturers wagons they are? If I could afford to go all Accurascale/Cavalex I would, but the second hand Hornby wagons look fine to me. Thanks for watching & commenting Cheers John b 😎

Hiya, I really love your layout it looks superb. When I was a kid in the early 1970's I lived very very close to the wcml in Coventry and one night I saw 2 class 25s pulling a coal train, I was able to count all the wagons and there were 50 which I remember to this today because I spent my time watching the track and even playing on it in the day but even then I'd never seen a train so long and that's why I've always remembered it, my question is do you know if this was a regular thing with the class 25s pulling this type of train or could it have been a 'one off' because I just can't find much if any information regarding class 25s and those haa wagons, what do you think?, this by the way was around midnight and the date was 1974 at the weekend. Interesting that one Chris, can you remember wether the wagons were loaded or empty? Apart from looking through some old books from West Midland trains In the 1970s I wouldn’t have a clue, it does sound quite a lot of HAA’s for class 25s. I used to live close by to the freight only line that runs through Sutton Park, so I spent a lot of my time watching the trains run through there, many of which were MGR trains. From memory it was nearly always 56’s and double heading 20’s & they used to haul between 28 / 30 HAA’s - I remember 25s running by, but not with that many. I wonder if it was a one off or regular run?? I will have a look in my books over the weekend. Funny you say you used to play on the line, we used to put coins on the tracks to see them get flattened! Could you imagine that happening now⚠️ there would be police helicopters & day glow all over it 😆 Simpler times back then. Thanks for watching & commenting with some interesting stuff. ​@@colwichjunction3366 yes the wagons were full there was a brake van on the end, two class 25s at the front and it was heading towards Coventry Station, where I lived I had a fantastic view of the track as my bedroom was just as high as the embankment with not many small trees here and there towards the top and I could see both the 4 aspect signals for each direction, I loved watching them changed, so I was watching things like class 310s, 85s, 86s, 25s, coal, cement and other wagons, that part of the track was my playground because within it is a 7 arch viaduct and river where we would play and that part of the line was and is still called the 'murder mile' because of the deaths over the years, I was more afraid of my mum catching me then being hit by a train!, I'm currently doing a diarama of that part of the line including the viaduct in 00 which is 16ft long with the viaduct being 9ins tall and just over 1 metre in length with embankments either side, my time period is from 1970 - 2000. It's taking me a long time to do because of not having the room and I look to your layout for ideas, I'll have to send a few pictures to your email address.

@@chrisuddin9760 - I’ve just been looking through my book - Midland Region in the 1970s & 1980s, which has some great photos which I like to use for reference. There are plenty of class 25s, but sadly not double heading MGRs, it would have been great to find just one photo, there are lots of pictures of the class doing just about every duty that you could think of! There’s some decent photos of Coventry station in there too, certainly brings back lots of happy memories. My dad used to take me to Bescot on a Sunday morning & we used to visit a pub alongside the WCML just outside of Lichfield - Vimto & crisps! A more varied line up of traction couldn’t be wished for back then, as long as it was Blue😀
