Wild Fish Tanks

Wild Fish Tanks

Just a lucky guy on a mission to build a fish room full of wild fish tanks on a budget. Learn with me as we collect native and exotic wild fish, complete DIY projects, find new ways to make our hobby affordable, and breed many different species. We'll go on adventures to collect wild fish, tour fish stores and farms, complete DIY projects, and do it all on a budget!

I'm passionate about many things, aquarium fish and shrimp being one. I hope to share that passion with others and get inspiration from other fish/shrimp enthusiasts in the community.

We were recently surprised to discover baby Hillstream loach in our tank. We like the Hillstream loach and would like to keep at least two or more, but would not like to breed. Is it OK to keep all females in one tank? Will they fight.? Thank you for sharing your experience

I just got a 60 gallon tank and ordered 10 Mbuna cichlids online. I bought rocks and white substrate with a couple of plants and driftwood. I am excited to get the fish! Thank you for sharing this video.

Will they eat larger snails like a mystery snail or rabbit snail if I only get a single one?

Yes, mine tried to eat a shrimp one time 😂 So if you have snails that you like, you better not get an assassin snail…

Hey Wild Fish Tanks, Great job. I built something similar some 15 years ago with 4x4 and 2x4 for my x 3 5' fish tanks, but yours looked better ! How do you maintain your garage temperature especially in the summer for your fish to thrive? Thanks!

Why would anybody want to breed the colour out of a fish? Then wind up with white, colorless fishes?

Old video ik, but Ive got a planted and scaped 20 gal high tank. It's pretty much done cycling now and I really want a starlight bristlenose. I've gotten some conflicting info on if I should house one in a 20 gall or if that's gonna be too small. Ideally I want to find a baby

Great video! I keep ‘em too, my discus love them and my culture ensures they are clean and have no nasties. To harvest, I stir up and sweep water column with a small shrimp net, and that breaks them up for increasing numbers and makes collecting easy….win win. Then quick rinse and feed.

great personality mate! loved the sock joke..lol. Im setting up a Nano tank for my desk, the idea is a no flow selfsustained ecosystem. Do these snails tolerate colder water, room temps. A few of those rubbish little snails piggybacked in on a plant. So was thinking to get one to keep that future pollution down.

So cool to see many wild fish species I grew up catching in ponds and ditches. The Kilifish was one of my faves as they thrive in grassy/algae laid areas. We have a small pond behind our rental loaded with Gambusia, Blue Gill, and Bass. May create a small aqua bowl (self-cycled) and try it with Gambusia or Kilifish from the pond behind us. Thx for sharing and enjoy!!

my little Neolamprologus tretocephalus lived in my beta sorority for a couple of days before I pulled him out because he wants more territory than is available in the 55G aquarium, but he didn’t hurt anyone or kill anyone or bite anyone. he was in there with guppies, neon, tetras, platies, swordfish, female bettas and dwarf gouramis and he did pretty well, but he just wanted a lot of territory as his own. I didn’t realize what kind of fish he was because I adopted him. 😄 so now I’m starting a new aquarium for him and I’m just looking for tank mates.

Can i ask what colour is the mom. Reason i ask is i have an Albino female and orange bristle nose pleco. However, I woke up this morning to find baby plecos stuck on my glass behind a netting. Because other than that, they would have been eaten, but they're not orange. I do have another pleco in the tank, but I am not aware if she is female but she is black wih strips and changes colour.
