    yep the best shrimp success I have ever had is in my two gallon bucket chuck full of java moss and no substrate, I keep it inside, in the sun, during the winter and outside, in the sun, in the summer...not one water change in well over two years...just add water as needed...and I have hundreds of shrimp in there. so fun and easy.

    Cherry shrimp can easily be cultured outside, I'm not sure why they aren't more popular for ponds, because they should be! Also mississippi grass shrimp should be more popular too, cold hardy and good algae eaters.

    Was looking thru your recent or most recent past 30-40 videos or so and wow I have missed ALOT! And a thought occurred to me while I was scrolling thru, bro... Your very, and I mean VERY underrated, and seriously under viewed compared to other channels out there. Please keep up the solid format man, this is what youtube hobby related content SHOULD be about. So sick of alot of these so called "Fish-Tubers" that originally plan to be an informational aquarium related channel to all the sudden they think they are some kind of Hollywood heros, 97% of those videos feature the channel creators with the camera in there face. They go from diy, info, hobby, etc content to "hey guys, here's what is going on with my personal life" for 15-20 minutes an upload. Some of them make that first 200 bucks from getting monitized to all the sudden they think they are Joe Rogan or Some other huge channel lol

    So happy to see you back. I actually just bought some bluefin killifish. I was wondering if you think breeding them with plecos would be ok. Very planted tank and only those two species

  • @WildFishTanks

    @WildFishTanks

    3 жыл бұрын

    I think that would work. I don’t see the blue fin Killifish bothering the Pleco‘s or vice versa. You would need to be quick to collect the eggs though. They would scatter them in the moss or mop and after time either the parents or the plecos would probably pick them off. I would remove the moss or spawning mop once they lay the eggs in it.

    I wanted to begin or atleast attempt to begin breeding shrimp myself with the goal to use any proceeds from selling shrimp online to fund my aquarium hobby comeback but sadly have not quite started yet. Any thoughts on this? Saw a video once of a guy who went to 3-4 different places to buy his initial breeding stock and within a month or two he was off and rolling, guy was flipping shrimp like crazy and sure enough after a little time and plenty of work he was able to do exactly what I ld like to do and make a small shrimp investment pay for my aquarium hobby overall. Also... Almost forgot, he had a couple different kinds of snails he was producing as well, wish I could remember the species but do know he was getting a buck each for the snails and he quickly had thousands to sell...

  • @WildFishTanks

    “Breeding for profit” as they say is a bit of a hit and miss. I think it’s more like the stock market having to bet on different fish. It works best to build a name for yourself so that people trust you. It’s a difference between buying a used car from a reputable dealer vs a stranger off the street. The stranger off the street is going to have to sell for less, even the exact same product. If that stranger gains reputation however, they could potentially add value to the product even if it is still very similar or the same. Think of a guitar played by a famous person for instance. You also need very good business skills and marketing skills in addition to fish breeding skills. There’s no playbook but Some people just get going and figure it out
