    Just a heads up. I had the bottom of a tank break because it was on the styrofoam. The tank sunk into the styrofoam and the styrofoam ended up touching the glass. Good for rimless tanks though.

    Do you run all of your larger tanks on air, and sponge filters? I have a pair of chocolate bristle nose plecos that have spawned for me twice. They are in the tank with a number of other plecos. Should I keep the pair by themselves, and is a 20L ok for them to breed in? And should I pull the fry at any time?

  • @WildFishTanks

    @WildFishTanks

    2 жыл бұрын

    All my tanks run on sponge filters. I pull the fry to grow them out because if you keep too many in a smaller tank it can stunt their growth and its not hard for even one pair to fill up a 20 or even 55 pretty quick

    Heath is most important. Without it we can't do they things we love doing. I take breaks more often since I automated everything. Other than Feeding and floss in my box filters . No, from my local fish store or buy it used from other fish keepers. There are definitely ways you can collect wood and make sure it’s good for the tank but I haven’t done that

    Have you ever kept a tank of just wild collected invasives? I feel like it could be interesting and for people who might not realize they are invasive it could be a learning experience.

    Not strictly them but I do hope to help spread awareness regarding the different species found where I explore. I have some videos coming very soon with some very knowledgable individuals on both native and invasice species alike

    @@WildFishTanks i just think about how any and every little fish is just lumped together as minnows and to think every person who says that probably hasn’t got a clue on what is and isn’t native. If they see cichlids in the pond at grandmas then they think why can’t mine go in the river when we move?

    I’m interested to learn more about your garage insulation. It’s actually cold this week in FL so how is your fish garage handling that?

  • @WildFishTanks

    That is a great question. I have the room insulated with foam boards but also have two space heaters that I use occasionally (more frequently lately with the colder temps). I also keep fish that don’t mind a little bit of cooler temps. No discus or anything like that. The native fish can actually handle it into the 50s although the coldest my tanks get is the very high 60s and lower 70s

    @@WildFishTanks cool, did not realize you were that far west. I was thinking you were more toward Orlando. We are doing the Expo again this year, if you want a table! You have about 10 months to make more fish! You Edlers and Guppy's are looking great!

    I am in Orlando. The west side of town which makes it a little easier but the 90 minute drive each way is worth it for both clubs. I remember you have kids at UCF, if you’re ever in Orlando the offer still stands to come by my fishroom. I had amazing time at the ALA/Expo, you and the rest of the volunteers did an outstanding job. I plan to come again to the expo this year and yes, good chance I’ll get a booth. Not just for the fish but for the pleco and cichlid Caves I sell as well as T-shirts and stickers.
