Johns solo at the end was magnificent. I wish he would sing all jerrys songs🎉

I know I’m late to this video, but this version is one of the best I’ve heard. John’s guitar is tough and puts an edge that is not in the original. Honestly one of my favorite dead songs, but then again, I say that about most of their songs.

Saw my first show July 17, 1989 at Alpine Valley. Miss Knight, two and three but figured I'll be back next year. They play here every year. Little did I know that that's the last time they would ever play there. Wish I could've been able to go back in 2018 but I guess that's life. The Grateful Dead really got up for Alpine Valley. It was a special place and I think everybody knew it.

i don't care how well he can play - compared to the music and soul of JG this makes me sick in tummy. it's the equivalent of that father john misty line "She says she sounds just like sarah vaughn - I hate that soulful affectatiuon white girls put on - why don't you move to the delta". I don't know much of the dead but JG makes music that sounds like he's mining the depths of grief and love themselves for treasure. this sounds like the alt-earthy college rich girl version of walking into a middle age bad-art wife cafe that's playing the cooler version of michael buble. how has nobody called

Brings me back to the first time I heard Jack Straw, and the Dead as such. It was January 1978 and my travel companions and I arrived at a guest house in Lakeside, Pokhara, Nepal where a band of freaks from the US, Canada, England and Australia had found each other, and there were about two or three cassette tapes for the tape player. Europe 72 was played again and again and again, all day, every day. Somehow I got into it... ;-)

Ok you mothers, my husband bought a ticket to your concert at the sphere for Friday the 12. He’s an old deadhead from Haight Ashbury, 73 years old. He has a bad knee, hard to walk long distances. We drove all the way from Phoenix. Went to the Venitian the nite before to scope out these so- called amazing exhibits - which closed at 6 pm. So thanks for that. We also paid $30 bucks to park in handicap, and spent an hour walking around in the food court and casino looking for how he’s supposed to get to the venue. I don’t want him getting lost on his own. We asked directions from the concierge but nobody seemed to know where it was- they were just being nasty to the tourists- so YOU BLEW IT BIG TIME FOR YOUR FANS- Here’s a suggestion you stoned out muffers, how about a few of you deadheads stand around the food court and casino and the elevators and help the old hippies find the venue- a few chairs wouldn’t hurt either- my husband will go to the show, he will be overjoyed- but frankly I am not a deadhead- I was at the Haight in 67’ went to the Fillmore and left after 15 minutes watching people take drugs and throw up in the bathroom- not cool- I hope you can put your doobies down long enough to help your fans-.

Could have been a Paul McCartney song circa revolver. Absolutely beautiful. Garcia/Hunter were on top of their game when they wrote this song.

I loved The Other Ones 98, The Dead 2003 was incredible, some of april and may 09, and a lot of Further and Ratdog. But its the perfect evolution that we've gotten to Dead and Company's utter mastery of this music. Each show is a masterpiece and tour of all the greatest songs, freshly played with constant new twists and everybody locking in, giving it their best
