Great video! Do you think it matters if you start at the top or bottom first?
I guess it doesn’t really matter, but I just like to start from the bottom since that’s the heaviest part of the project and I like to see how it sits early on in making it
What drill bit do you use?
I use diamond ball tip drill bits. Between 1.8mm and 2.2mm
How about the back of the shell? I would paint that gold.
Yes! I usually leave it natural but I have painted it gold as well. Definitely looks pretty.
What demel are you using
Please look in the description for that info and more 😊
Your tutorial is excellent. Thank you very much. I peeled the two layers off my napkin. I’m wondering why you find this step necessary or better? Also your cat is precious. Thanks again!
The reason why I pull that second layer off is because when I didn’t, many times when I was going to smooth it out, the top layer buckled and the bottom layer stayed! I guess it doesn’t always happen and believe me I know how difficult it is to smooth it out with such a thin piece of material but I just find that it’s better to get all the bottom layers off. And what’s equally as important is definitely using saran wrap or a plastic bag of some sort when you’re smoothing it.
Thank you! I will continue to peel the layers. Your tip about using saran wrap is very helpful 😻
How do you cut the sea glass
Hi… there’s no cutting involved.
Lovely walk through, cute cat, darling decoupage shells - thank you!
Thank you for your tutorial! Yours went a little more detailed on certain aspects I wanted to know than most others. Such as, how to remove the excess design from the edges of the shell more cleanly. The addition of your sweet co-host, Jagger, was chef’s kiss! Hope you and Jagger are well!❤
Thank you so very much!! 🐾🐾
Love this you opened up so many new craft ideas for me. Thanks for everything..and love your furry helper.
So glad you enjoyed the tutorial! Jagger says meeeeowww 🐾
Thank you from Dublin, Ireland. I was given a lot of oyster shells and I am going to try this. ❤
Greetings! Good luck with the project 😃
Hot glue doesn’t last long keeping the shells together, temporarily looks nice but after trying several types of hot glue my flowers don’t stay glued long
Did you try bring very generous with the glue? Otherwise you can always use much stronger glue that isn’t hot glue but would just take a lot longer to dry of course.
How much sea glass do you think you need for one tree ?
That’s a really good question and actually depends on the size pieces that you would be using. If you can see in the video, all the sea glass that you see I have laid out, that is what I used. If I weighed it, I would guess that it would be about 12 ounces of sea glass. Always have more than you need though. Hope that helps.
You so very much. Your tree is beautiful. Can’t wait to try to make mine ❤️❤️❤️
Very informative , thank you.
How would you go about adding lights?
You can easily wrap “fairy lights” around the tree. They can be battery powered or usb or even electrical. The fairy lights are so DTN. The tiny lights are on a wire, so you can easily tuck the wire underneath the pieces of sea glass.
They're cool
🙂
Love these I’m going to try this. Thanks so much for sharing ❤
Great! Good luck
Would be cute with a magnet on back also to stick on fridge
Yes! 🙌🏼
Great tutorial! You Rock!
Aww thx. I feel like my videos are too long sometimes. I’m trying to get better. 😉
The length of your videos seem just right to me. Keep on Rockin'!😊@@thesaltyspirit3088
Beautiful cat
Oh I'm sad to see this kit is sold out!
Yes I’m sorry. Someone bought many of them. I will restock soon and I can let you know.
Loved your work, can hardly wait to start a Christmas tree myself!
Thx so much! Would love to see a pic when you’re done. 😌
Love the kitty
Where do you get your sea glass to buy?
If you buy fake sea glass, you can get it at hobby lobby in the section for mosaics. Or Amazon or Etsy.
@@thesaltyspirit3088 thank you
Thanks for a great video
Thanks for instructions!
lindas
Que lindo trabajo. Saludos desde Puerto Rico,
Gracias!
Why can’t we use matte modge podge?
You absolutely can. It’s really a personal preference. I personally like the shine that it leaves.
Why not add the rhinestone star on top of the starfish! Then it’s bling?
It’s all personal preference. I’ve come to love the big starfish on top. Bling is good too! Merry Christmas
It looks perfect like it is@@thesaltyspirit3088
Your projects are so beautiful 🤩
Thx so much
Pretty!
Thank yoouu
The part about painting the shell is ‘blink-and-you-miss-it’ I watched twice to catch this detail. The project is simple and end result lovely.
So pretty, loved your instructions and especially your cat!!. Thank you for taking the time to do this for all of us 😊
I just came across your channel and love it. 😊 I am a beachcomber who lives along the shore of Lake Erie near Buffalo, NY Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.
Thank you so much. Do you finds sea glass on Lake Erie? I never been. Looks beautiful. Thx for watching!
@@thesaltyspirit3088 Yes, I'm walking distance to the beach in my neighborhood and also drive to other beaches along Lake Erie during the summer looking for beach glass. It's getting harder to find as so many people are collecting it now and/or there is less glass being dumped in the lake.
Very cute!
Still a handsome boy!
Would it be possible to mail just some tissue to Portugal? Thanks so much for responding I love all your ideas.
I could but the shipping would be high. Email me with your address and I can check. [email protected]
I will as soon as I buy a Dremel.
Beautiful! Thank you❤️
You’re welcome! 😀
I just found you and love your videos. I will be making these for next years craft shows. Thank you!
That's great! Send me pics of your creations.
You can use your heat gun to get rid of any glue strings! Easier than picking them off by hand.
Yes! Or a blow dryer. I’m just concerned it will loosen spots that I don’t want to be loosened 😉
I use a blow dryer 👍
I’ve watched several of the sea glass tree tutorials and yours is the best. Thank you
I appreciate that! Thank you
It looks beautiful! Thank you for posting this video! Question for you, how many ounces or pounds of glass do I need for this size of a tree? How tall is the center foam piece? Also how many sticks of hot glue do I need for one tree? Thank you!
These are great questions! The Styrofoam cone is a standard size of 6 inches in height and about 2.75 inches width at the bottom. I can only guess how many glue sticks one can use but personally I used around five. As far as the amount of sea glass, that is a really tough one. If you’re using fake or real, I would have to guess around a pound of with both large and smaller pieces. I hope that helps!
Beautiful piece ❤
Thank you! 😊
What do u sell these for?
Anywhere from $45-$60
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing.🐚💙
So pretty! How much do you sell yours for at shows?
Thank you. I charge around $7 per shell 🙂
Thank you for your tutorials. I really enjoy them. Do you have a way to hang a charm on a non drilled sea glass piece? I don't have a way to drill glass.
Thanks so much for your question. That’s a little bit tougher but there certainly could be a way. Since you’ve already seen the tutorial on how to wrap Seaglass and wire without a drilled hole, you may be able to attach a small jump ring somewhere on the wire, and then connect the charm to that jump ring.
Thank you for your delightful easy to follow tutorials on how to wrap sea glass. I like your organic easy way of doing it and it turns out beautifully. I am frustrating myself with complicated tutorials and fussy perfection. I'm going to just let it flow like the ocean and have fun.🌊🐚🌴💙
I love this! Sometimes I feel like I dawdle a little too much on my videos, but ….it is what it is and I’m glad you enjoyed it!
You don't dawdle at all and I love your down to earth style.@@thesaltyspirit3088 🤗💖
Thanks so much!
Well done! Thank u
OMG! I have torn so many napkins! Now I’ve learned to use plastic for the napkin placement. Thank you! Please pet your sweet cat for me! He’s adorable!
Yes! The plastic is a game changer! 🐱
