Create a luminary mason jar by using faux white sand instead of epsom salts. This technique is better since it will not disintegrate and break down over time. I add a colorful starfish design by dying some of the sand. Add a finishing touch with some jute twine and insert a votive candle or just leave it as is.
You will need:
a mason jar (medium size works best)
jute twine
hodge podge or the like
white filler sand (found at Hobby Lobby or Michaels)
paint brushes
two large paper plates
piece of tab folder dividers (dollar tree)
food coloring (whatever color you want the starfish or jar to be)
hot glue gun
