@@RogerinFinland out of interest, how come you had to use ND filters? At 1.4 on camera and at 1% on the light was that still over exposed?
@RogerinFinlandАй бұрын
This was quite long time ago, so I'm trying to remember the reason :D Likely with the light at 1% and lens at 1.4 I'm sure I wouldn't have needed an ND, BUT the image would not have looked as I wanted. With the light at 1%, the ration between key and ambient light is very different than with the light at 30%. In the second case there's a lot more contrast and the ambient light affects very little. Basically: I use the light output to define the look and then use whatever needed to expose properly, rather than adjust the light output to manage the exposure. Does this make sense?
@RiffsRhythmАй бұрын
@@RogerinFinland yes it does. I’m just trying to decide what to upgrade first. Any opinion would help. I have a Sony zv-e10 and the kit lens and a cheap Amazon soft box light. I normal shoot at 16mm in my room. What would you upgrade first the lens or lighting? Problems - The lights have to go up high as I’m in low light for studio talking head to expose correctly. Loads of spill in background. Lens with 1.4 or 1.8f would help bring down the light intensity. However, would a good Light source with box grid make the kit lens look much better? I guess I’ll need to upgrade both but which would make the most difference? Thanks
@RogerinFinlandАй бұрын
@@RiffsRhythm my answer (unfortunately) is that it depends. If you prioritize having a shallow depth of field and a sharp image, then lens first (if 16mm is the focal length you like, I'd consider a sigma Sigma 16mm 1.4 ). If you're OK with the sharpness and depth of field with your kit lens, but you want more control over the light, a better more powerful bigger source will likely be helpful. Not sure if this helped either 😅

It's pretty challenging to make them comparable though. The F2 has only the 3.5mm jack, the F3 only XLRs, the F1 has 3.5mm jack, and can get XLR but without phantom power. In practice it means that you'd either test different microphone, or microphones in different conditions.

the side squeeze distortion is horrible. How can you use this lens with moving shots? It will get messy.
@RogerinFinlandАй бұрын
I either wouldn't move or wouldn't care much. Some would call it character, some quirkiness. Either way is a matter of taste, and if one doesn't like it that's fair enough and other options are available. In general, if you want a clean uniform edge to edge performance on a lens, anamorphic won't be the way to go. For that I'd go towards spherical cine lenses, like Irix on the budget side.

Can the Zoom F2 accept USB power as a backup to the AAA batteries?
I would assume so, as in the specs on the Zoom website it states that it can be powered by the AD-17 AC adapter, which is basically a phone charger. I can't test it out, as I no longer own the F2, but based on the official specs I'd say yes.
I bought this lens for Sony, but on the screen F- -, there is no numbers. I checked this lens in three bodies, but the same problem, do you have any ideas?
I love the video. But you need a pop filter, please... and another pair of headphones for the guest ;p
A sound quality test would be have extremely useful.
