    Are you experiencing in vignette?

  • @RogerinFinland
    @RogerinFinlandКүн бұрын

    That's a very specific question, yet broad 😊 With the MFT it will depend on the lens. For instance, Meike 25mm T2.2 with MFT mount, no issues at all.

  • @MinisterTravis
    @MinisterTravisКүн бұрын

    @@RogerinFinland Well, I plan to get the mft active mount for my S6 just wondering

  • @RogerinFinland
    @RogerinFinlandКүн бұрын

    @@MinisterTravis all I can say is that it is not dependent on the mount, but on the lenses. If you get lenses with MFT mount designed for S35 or full frame you'll be OK, those that technically only cover MFT will likely vignette or worse; but some might work.

    @@RogerinFinland Sounds good! Came to the same conclusion after seeing Cam Mackeys review on the Cato. Currently have the Sirui 24, 35 and 50mm but they are for crop frame. @@RogerinFinland out of interest, how come you had to use ND filters? At 1.4 on camera and at 1% on the light was that still over exposed?

  • @RogerinFinland
    @RogerinFinlandАй бұрын

    This was quite long time ago, so I'm trying to remember the reason :D Likely with the light at 1% and lens at 1.4 I'm sure I wouldn't have needed an ND, BUT the image would not have looked as I wanted. With the light at 1%, the ration between key and ambient light is very different than with the light at 30%. In the second case there's a lot more contrast and the ambient light affects very little. Basically: I use the light output to define the look and then use whatever needed to expose properly, rather than adjust the light output to manage the exposure. Does this make sense?

  • @RiffsRhythm
    @RiffsRhythmАй бұрын

    @@RogerinFinland yes it does. I’m just trying to decide what to upgrade first. Any opinion would help. I have a Sony zv-e10 and the kit lens and a cheap Amazon soft box light. I normal shoot at 16mm in my room. What would you upgrade first the lens or lighting? Problems - The lights have to go up high as I’m in low light for studio talking head to expose correctly. Loads of spill in background. Lens with 1.4 or 1.8f would help bring down the light intensity. However, would a good Light source with box grid make the kit lens look much better? I guess I’ll need to upgrade both but which would make the most difference? Thanks

  • @RogerinFinland
    @RogerinFinlandАй бұрын

    @@RiffsRhythm my answer (unfortunately) is that it depends. If you prioritize having a shallow depth of field and a sharp image, then lens first (if 16mm is the focal length you like, I'd consider a sigma Sigma 16mm 1.4 ). If you're OK with the sharpness and depth of field with your kit lens, but you want more control over the light, a better more powerful bigger source will likely be helpful. Not sure if this helped either 😅

    I like the French version of this lens more, as it seems to convey a little bit more mystery! I own the Sirui 50mm F1.8 with a 1.33 stretch and am now looking to graduate to either a full frame lens like the Viltrox or the rather expensive Laowas. The trouble is when you look at a series like 'three body problem' and look at the quality of the lenses, I want to get as close to that without spending the same amount of money. I hope you enjoy your lens. If I were to go for a blazar, the 60 mm is probably the one for me. Thanks for taking the time to make this review.

  • @RogerinFinland

    Hi there! For ND filters I just use screw-on variable ND from freewell. Happily I had a 77mm filter already so that was easy. It's pretty challenging to make them comparable though. The F2 has only the 3.5mm jack, the F3 only XLRs, the F1 has 3.5mm jack, and can get XLR but without phantom power. In practice it means that you'd either test different microphone, or microphones in different conditions.

    the side squeeze distortion is horrible. How can you use this lens with moving shots? It will get messy.

  • @RogerinFinland
    @RogerinFinlandАй бұрын

    I either wouldn't move or wouldn't care much. Some would call it character, some quirkiness. Either way is a matter of taste, and if one doesn't like it that's fair enough and other options are available. In general, if you want a clean uniform edge to edge performance on a lens, anamorphic won't be the way to go. For that I'd go towards spherical cine lenses, like Irix on the budget side.
