Is the Zoom H1n good for PODCAST?

Is the Zoom H1n any good for #podcast ?
It definitely sounds good enough, but you'll need one for each guest. Which might still be cheaper than most other combination of recorder and two or three microphones.

Thank you very much for your comment, from the both of us 😁
Why was I genuinely invested in this conversation?

😅 I'll take that as a compliment! 😌
Since I got my H1n I've been using it for my voice overs instead of my USB mic, it just sounds so good!

It's a lovely little thing that does a lot for quite little 👍🏼😊
Very cool and interesting way of showing a great use case. I love mine and use it for a ton of things

Hola Roger! Bona feina!

I didn't know I was going to watch a comedy show here, but yes, I did. And it was well received.

Question please. I shoot vlog style videos... mostly being stationary. If you had to choose one sound recorder for me between Zoom h2n and Zoom F1. Which one would you choose? TIA
@RogerinFinland
Жыл бұрын
Neither of them actually. The H2n is more of an omni type of thing and the not sure about the F1 in general. For lav mics I'd go with the F2, for handheld, either H5 or H1n. For studio, F3.
Nice video! A question though, what settings did you use on the device (including volume level etc)? Thanks!
@RogerinFinland

That depends so much on the situation that I'd rather not answer :) Likely no filters at all and gain at 7 though
Dam i can't find this gem on Podbean, where can I listen to the 2nd episode?

I love the video. But you need a pop filter, please... and another pair of headphones for the guest ;p

Thanks! The guest should have brought his own headphones!! :D :D
Roger 1 and Roger 2 (or both) what settings did you have on the H1n?
@RogerinFinland
Жыл бұрын
Hi Joe! Here you go: WAV, 44.1kHz, 16bit, low cut 80 Hz, gain somewhere between 7 and 8. Also, no post processing at all, other than adjusting the level a tiny bit.

@@RogerinFinland thanks it was the gain primarily that I was interested in.

Seems like H1n recorded enough information and a little play with EQ can make it sound the same as this Rode. Zoom requires more preparation before recording because of sensitive x-y mics, however it is so cheap... If I would have more money to spend I would buy F3 and some decent mics, but I have not...
@RogerinFinland

That's the main point and the beauty of the H1n: it's so cheap for what it does that it is difficult to pass. (Nowadays I'd look into the H1 Essentials though).
Can you use these mics for Reels?
@RogerinFinland
6 ай бұрын
I'm not sure. I mean it depends on how you create the reel videos, right? If it's "just a video but vertical" then any video creation tool is a valid one. And keep in mind that the H1n is an audio recorder, bot just a microphone.
What is the maximum distance for the H1n that you would recommend for a podcast?
@RogerinFinland
Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't go over 50cm to get clear voice and good SNR (signal to noise ratio).
What a combative guest! I hope it wasn’t awkward after the podcast 😂
