The Sony ZV-1 in 2023: an excellent travel companion (to US Colorado at least)

The #SonyZV2 might be coming soon, but the #SonyZV1 is still a great camera in #2023 !!
I took it in a business trip to US Colorado and it served me well. At times I did miss my A7 IV with good glass, but not while hiking, or running around airports, security, immigration and more...
The ZV-1 gives me great pictures and videos and some very cool features. For example, Slog2 and Slog3. Yes, they do work great in 8bit if you know what you are doing!

Hi Roger, can you explain how you take videos in Slog3 on the Zv1? Basically your settings? My video always looks very grainy due to ISO1000 minimum. Do you have any tips? Thanks!

The grain or noise is mostly due to lack of light rather than high ISO. Slog3 (and 2) is designed to preserve highlights, so likes lots of light. Still, what you want to do is overexpose it by 1-2 stops so that in post you pull the footage. I have a couple of videos in my channel about ISO Vs exposure. In a nutshell: exposing well is much more important than "low" or "proper" ISO. Also, if you you Slog3 definitely try to use a colour managed workflow (like ACES). -> links in the cards .
