Hello Roger , such a nice video as always !! Could you please help me. I need an audio system (mic + recorder etc), for run n gun documentary style travel filmmaking. I have been very confused. Could you please suggest me what's the best budget/semi professional system I should go for ? I need a reliable field recorder and mic with good quality with good connections (XLR). As, with my experience I found that this 3.5 mm TRS is not reliable. Happy new your to you and wishes for future endeavors !! I shall be very very grateful to you 😊

Thanks!! I would definitely go for 32bit float so you can forget about setting gain (I'd assume great for run and gun). If you want that then the options are: Zoom F3, Zoom F4, Zoom F6, Tascam X8 and the very expensive but very good SoundDevices MixPre series. The Zoom F3 with a Rode NTG 1, 2, 3 or 4 (depending on budget) would be my choice. As a left field out of the box option, take a look at the new Zoom M3. Shotgun microphone with integrated shock mount AND 32 bit float recorder. Hopefully this was of some help 👍🏼😊
