I bought a new one 6 mo. ago and I love it. Modifying this bike is a waste of time and money. If you want a fast dirt or street bike buy something else. I`ve been riding over 50 yrs. and if you want to putt around like the `70`s this is what you want. imo
@@barackmycat9448 well, the 222 cc big bore kit helped the torque tremendously. That was a major improvement noticeable in first gear, taking off all the way up to fifth gear. When it was stock original, it would hardly carry itself in fifth gear anywhere below 75 km/h, but now with the kit it can carry itself from 60 km/h even in fifth gear effortlessly with lower RPMs. I also added a windshield, and that was a major improvement as well.
What was the cost of that kit? Buy a bigger bike with more suspension.
@@robfninh it was around $250 Canadian for the big bore kit. Much cheaper than buying a bigger motorcycle of this year. I’ve put it around 2000 km on it so far I mostly use it on the street or for commute so bigger suspension is not totally necessary. My main priority has been budget since I bought my first house last fall.
@@613Builds I understand.

Fun fact: the XR150 is originally from Indonesia.

@@V8AmericanMuscleCar that’s funny; I’m subscribed to both of you because I used to have a 88’ Firebird and I also have a 2-door XJ and an XR150L!🤣🤣

How did you get the new lights to fit in the headlight buckets?
They are the same size as the factory lamps. Make sure you get the 4x6 there are also 5x7 inch. If you got different lights with bulky backing then you might have to modify your headlight buckets
@@613Builds I think that’s the problem I have, they are 4x6 but the backs are not as tapered. Thanks again for the video, nice to see what they will eventually look like
@neilcuff7361 I think I had to loosen the front bezel retainers a bit as well, because the corners aren’t as round or shape is slightly different depending on which lights you get.
What is the display screen?
Did you do anything to the metal straps so maybe they would last longer?
I wanted to use copper or stainless, but I ended up using the cheaper galvanized stuff just to make sure it would do the job. There is copper and stainless strapping available, and that’s what I would recommend for corrosion resistance

How do you remove the ashes?
Stick vaccumm hose down in, but mostly there is a lot of fly ash. A lot of the ash goes up in fly ash because the drawl is strong 💪 🔥 💨
will this fit a 2024 Kodiak 700?
will this fit a Kodiak 700
Cool ! What kinda MPG or Litres per 100 km do you get ?
It’s supposed to get like 100 mpg but I don’t think I’m getting that much when at close to highway speed almost wide open. My commute is better than 50 kms each way . I feel like it’s closer to 50-75 MPGs. It’s cost me about 14 or 15 Canadian dollars to fill the tank with high octane around $1.80 per liter for the good stuff. Tank lasts me about 2 days to work and back. It takes me 45-55 mins each way to get to work. It will reach 105 or 110 kph downhill , about 95-100 on flat, and drops to about 90-95 kph uphill. I’ve got a cool upgrade I’ve already installed a 70mm big bore kit for 222 cc displacement. I’ll have a video later
@@613Builds cool , sounds like a going to town rig.. I’m in Muskoka area gas was 1.569 the other day for regular.. I haven’t bought premium yet this year.. chainsaw gas. Lol
Seems to me you're best off spending more and getting real Mikuni so you can actually use Mikuni jets to change out, which I am sure anyone will need to do to tune it properly. Good luck finding jets to fit it. You are best off to get a rebuild the original with new gaskets and orings, then properly adjust the float leve to stop the overflow issue.

Hi , are all gen3 headlamps same size , if not ,what year ya got there ? All the best

@davidedwards3724 they were smaller 6x4 in 1991 and 1992 only exception

@@davidedwards3724 no problem. Also, I have a 1984 camaro, they use the smaller (4x6) size as well.

Gotta be kidding m e. I made one that required 5 cinder blocks and took half the time. 22 min to explain yours.
Well, I made this video well over a decade ago before the KZread shorts came out back then people used to have a better attention span but it’s OK if you don’t have the attention span you can still do it with half the amount of blocks. I could explain an up-to-date video, and I could explain it much shorter, but I’m not here to cater to the people with short attention spans. There is a fast-forward option if you want but I understand this is an older video and shorter videos. Do better nowadays I guess.

Hey. Do you know a troubleshoot video of when the chain moves and the motor works, but the door doesnt open. I believe it had something to do with the chain and door being disconnected. Thanks.
Does the clevis and cotter pin have anything to do with it?
Sounds like the emergency release . A red rope that hangs down. It’s an intricate device, you need to align the plastic trolly with the bullet style latch at the end of the chain. The road has to be pulled on an angle to get it to release, and then it has to be pulled on a different angle towards the drive motor to get it to latch back up in again. It’s not very intuitive, but if you pull the rope, it might come unlatched so the chain would move, but the door wouldn’t if it had come unlatched. This is like an emergency device when the power goes out or if you want to lift the door manually for any reason

Thats frigging awesome 👌 that thing looks sweet
They say the best things in life are free, and I agree. These performance increasing flow mods are “free” if you’re a handy DIY person
What radiator did you use???
I used 4th generation Firebird radiator.
make an install video please
I made another video, where I installed it onto a trailer hitch adapter , with a support jack as well
Wicked bike brother! Looks like you'll need to get some knobby tires for the gravel/sand
Ya it’s street legal so it comes with semi street tires. The suspension is smaller than the CRF150. I think it’s setup less for the dirt and more for the street. Other reviews have pointed out how lame the suspension is. Insurance is dirt cheap and it’s supposed to get 100 MPGs
How did you get the red-eye to not show red when lows and highs lighted 10:08
Just using the high and low beams , without the separate red wire. Mine have a separate little extra red wire for the red demon eye (DRL) function.
@@613Builds I have those exact ones. I'm probably going to disconnect the red-eye part.
I installed a lift kit on my 2010 Ford Ranger, but on side is not lifting... what did I do wrong? or what can I do?
Front or rear? Which side? if it’s the front tourism bars, you might have to jack the front end up and see if it settles, or adjust the torsion on each side individually. if it’s the rear, you might want to check your leaf springs, make sure none of them are cracked sometimes they crack near the centre pin. Check your shocks and check your rear shackles and shackle hangers. Those are common problem on those trucks.
What’s the heathens
That’s cool! I used to have a red 88’ with t-tops and the Gt style spoiler. I wanted to put louvers and a similar hood on it but with a cowl. One car I should’ve never gotten rid of.
Back again for some of your knowledge 😊
Swaps 💪😎☝️
that’s a great idea however if I go with the strong made front winch bumper it won’t be needed
A “Strong made” winch bumper sounds amazing , sounds like you’re getting a stronger bumper but it just clamps to the factory bumper. It will hold a winch I guess but you’re still gonna be pulling on the Factory bumper because the strong winch bumper is just an attachment that clamps to the Factory bumper. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the Factory bumper clearly, I just personally didn’t want to add the bulky weight to the front. I do hear good things about them From those who have the strong made parts. There is one benefit to some of the aftermarket stuff which is something I have on my Pioneer 520 side-by-side, which is the high mount set up for winch mounts. Are used an aftermarket style Highmount on my pioneer 520 because it puts the wind up higher, which is better for anybody who’s worried about going through the water or the mud. I guess it really depends on what you do with your machine and where you want to mount your winch.
Hey John. Good job on the install. Thanks for sharing.👍👍🍁

Never did work on it, remember it not being that sbc style 6, or an LS style either, so long ago... LOL
Frigging awesomeness right there
Do you still like it? How’s it holding up after 1 year?
Yes we love it for taking the kids or girlfriend, and the cargo capacity is very nice. We do not use the rear rack very often but the cargo capacity in the trunk compensates nicely. It has held up nicely, occasionally I checked the wingnuts to make sure they’re still tight but overall we are satisfied and happy with the Kim cargo trunk and rear seat
Nicely done.
Thanks 🙏🏼
Got the same one, been working great for five years now 👍
Right on that’s good to hear 😎👍
