Hi Russell, Thanks for the video. As usual, lots of relevant info without the crap. However on this occasion I feel you haven't done the universal table the justice it deserves. When setting the angle, you did it all on the table itself. I get the angle " in the ball park" with that method and then the fine tuning with the angle adjustment screw on the system itself. I use Kadet and K03 and this method works on both. Regards Shane in Ravenshoe.

Hi Shane, This video was done in the original Kadet where it did not have the fine tuning adjustment screw option like the current Kadet Pro and K03 systems have. If it did then yes I would then get it in the ballpark with the universal table then fine tune with the turning adjuster. -Russ

Thanks to this video I could see that the brass washer was the wrong side of the spring clamp, above it rather than below it. As it’s easily unscrewed I could fix it once I found the reason. This seems like a step back from the original. The fact it doesn't come in a bag roll like the original seems to imply it's merely just portable around the house or garage, not being taken on the go. I've taken my first gen Go camping, rolled the bag case out and set my Go up. Everything was neatly stored, some of it internally in the base. I see a less friendly system here that *might* have better vise jaws then the previous one at the price of a lot of portability and storage ease.

@nafis6668 Жыл бұрын
the curved tip will drop in angle. to reduce this effect : i suggest sharpen the curved tip first , put the clamp at the middle of the curve. match the angle with sharpie technique. Lastly sharpen the straight part , repositioning the clamp at the end of the staight part and match the angle with sharpie technique. Sharpening with this tool less tiring. Works easier with uniform level sharpening stones like Atoma diamond plate.

Can you clarify why is it that you need to ZERO on the rod first. It appears to me ,although the angle difference between the rod and the base unit will be set correctly But since the rod from the zeroed position is already off or at an angle to the center of the blade the angle set by angle gauge will only translate this error Or am I missing something. I would probably do the reserve by zeroing the angle gauge on the base unit first since it appears to always be in sync with the center of the blade and then set the angle on the rod.

One problem I noticed after my My first sharpening session with the Kadet was that the guide rod would bind in the holder. I tried some oil silicone and some petroleum jelly. Hi, one thing looks strange to me and nobody talks about that: when you zero your angle on the rod resting on the blade’s edge, after adjusting the angle by moving the clamping part up or down, since it moves the blade, your zero should change, at least a little bit. Nobody’s checking the zero after that step to see whether it changed actually significantly or marginally?
@Platoface7 ай бұрын
It does stay zero. I sharpened 5 knives tonight all to 15 degrees and checked angle on each one individually and it came back to zero after setting the angle. But I understand your hesitation because it didn’t make sense to me either.

The TSPROF user manual recommends a distance of 17mm from clamp edge to knife edge. I'm curious why you've set the distance using a straight line from heel to tip? Thanks!
@Zorzek11 ай бұрын
Because that's also what the manual says - chapter 6.1; position the knife in the clamps so that the longest straight section of the knife is as parallel to the frame as possible. I agree that he could've clamped the knife "deeper" so that he would get closer to the 17mm recomendadion since there was at least 2 cm of additonal depth available in the clamps. But then again, I guess it doesn't matter that much, since he managed to get the knife pretty damn sharp anyway :)
