  I started collecting these on ebay as soon as I could afford it. Wanted them since I was a 90s kid and smartphones just didn't hit the same way. I use an Hp620lx Palmtop for writing stories, and a Palm Tungsten E2 for handheld games & ebooks.

  The Sticky rubber is a huge problem because the rubber literally starts to decompose after a few decades, it happens to all rubber of that kind. old lego tires are also getting oily and sticky, its all rubber just decomposing

  surely it isnt only me, anyone else a sucker for old style laptops? not the internals, but the abundance of IO, no chassis flex, clicking monitor hinge locks, replaceable batteries.... man, if they sold this again with modern specs, I would buy one in a heartbeat.

  TBh the jump from windows XP to Windows Vista felt futuristic! more then windows 7 to windows 10.... To bad windows vista had a not deserved bad reputation. i blame all those people with their old computers upgrading to a modern os....

  I just got a CF19mk5 from an eBay seller. The office IT mgr said the price was very good for the features, so I went ahead and made the purchase. He was able to get it running as it was missing a few drivers. I use it for tethered photo shoots to get images to the network server and it does well at that. I have also always wanted to own one of these, but yes they were over US$4K new. I am now considering a rugged Dell refurbished model for about US1K, because I have always felt that laptops are quite flimsy and won’t survive field work, including coffee shop trips. Nice video.   6:50 you're going so quickly over this interesting Mac OS 8.7 which was in fact a beta version of Mac OS 9 and has never been officially released. OS 8 ended with 8.6. I wonder if it came preloaded or somebody installed a pirate copy.

  I had this same laptop, lasted me a good 9yrs. Bought a second one and it just died 9yrs later. Yes they are pricey but they last. Will be purchasing another, here’s to another 9 yrs 🥂.

  I have a practically new Dell with vista laptop..life has been horrible so I was so busy playing on my phone instead of my laptop now I don’t have a clue what to do I can’t beleive that it’s so old now but so new.

  BISO button batteries are generally difficult to find in retail in China. They are usually sold in groups. A group costs 5-20 yuan (depending on the number of batteries in each group), which is about 1-3 US dollars.

  I would like to suggest using WD-40 SILICONE on the melting rubber parts. I think it should work. It doesn't mar or remove any rubber but conditions it.
