    kind of good idea as long as the drill holder is set at Zero when clocked(no Taper) on slide! Many just use a spider plate that fits between chuck jaws, but this is only good for larger dia material so in all its a good alternative. hope it sells.

    My preferred inserts are those made by Mitsubishi (Japanese) or Korloy (South Korean). It seems to me they are more durable and have a cleaner cut. I usually work 1045 steel.

    That is a cool trick. Not sure it would work for me, working with different materials and sizes of drills. Takes a bit to change gears for feeds. Still clever.

    It's only an innovation using a magnet (which already exists) and holder, which is not an invention as it does not have an inventive step, so how will you patent it especially now that you have published it without proper protection

    Its much more involved than just the style of the insert Material being machine must be considered S F P M for material being machined How ridged is the set up and can the equipment handle the D O C Edge prep of insert Positive or negative chip breaker Coated or uncoated Dry machining or wet

    "This amazing tool I invented". While this tool is definitely useful and a fun lathe project it can hardly be claimed as YOUR invention. Sometimes the hubris of youth astounds me! For those interested this tool is called a Conical Transfer Punch. Probably dates back prior to the electric motor! Wakodahatchee Chris

    rpm's too fast and feed rate too slow, slow down the rpm's and increase feed rate for a piece as small as the one you had should be about 350 rpm's and 15 to 20 thousandth per revolution. you obviously have never done this for a living

    Rpm is not too high for tungsten inserts but feedrate is too slow good feedrate that insert is 0,2-0,4mm/rew

  • @trialtg
    @trialtg2 күн бұрын

    Not sure if you did it for a living, but every carbide insert has specified cutting speed. At the end you can see that the last insert has Vc=80-160m/min. So assuming the part has 50mm diameter we can calculate rpms. Vc=pi*D*RPM/1000. For 50mm part it is at least 500rpm. If you would run this part 350rpms it would be out of specification for this insert. But I agree about the feed that it is too low. It is not specified at insert box - it might be because of low quality of insert. Most of the cases specified feed is on range like 0.1-0.4 mm/rev

  • @trialtg
    @trialtg2 күн бұрын

    And one important thing, smaller diameter the part is the greater RPMs should be used as cutting speed is decreasing. That's why big lathes have lower range of rpms comparing them to small ones
