Thank you very much for your video, i'm just an lathe-hobbist ( from 2006 ) and also use inserts NC3030 as you showed in the video; much of the difference relies on type of steel to be cutted ... "common steel" ( for construction ) is the worst, to my sight of see, better i get with "silver steel". I also use my tool upside down, and opposit direction for the spin ... so i learned parting from u-tube, after so many ... "cracks" ... Operating so, the chips easily fall down ... I hightly do appreciate your style of videos, no music, no words ( often unintellegible cause different languages ) ... you just SHOW WHAT IS IT, very clear. With some indication of your hand and fingers, one can understand if a tool is ok for that work or not ... as in this video ... And finally your silent suggestions to use goggles for eye protection ... very professional ... My best greatings from Italy ... were are you instead from ?

Every schooled tradesman knows about these. What material your using depends on type and speed and feed are given by tip manufacturer.

I didn't notice you use any cutting fluid. Is it unnecessary with carbide?

I rarely use cutting fluid when I make videos to clearly show the whole metalworking process! Thanks my friend and welcome!

Thanks for the comparison. Were they about the same price, or was one cheaper or more expensive than the rest?

They are all about the same price, but the metal cutting quality is different, the last plate is the best as you can see from the shavings! Thank you and welcome!

Bem-vindo!

I've seen a few parting videos but never a side by side comparison of the inserts. I've only recently had luck with parting since I made my own tool holder similar to yours. Previously it was the rocker/lantern style. It's a lathe at work and they won't buy anything for it. It's a welding shop.
