I still have one of these! It's been in every one of my flight sim setups since the early 2000s. The cigarette lighter doesn't get much use (besides charging my phone), but I regularly use the cup holder.
The closest I got for labeling actual CDs was getting a drive with Lightscribe technology. I did a full label of my grad thesis with the uni logo and the project title, as well as my name on it. It turned out great.
My first videogame console, nostalgic
17:30 - The numpad is split off to accomodate left-handed users!
That window 3.1 or 9x background not the cool crab one what was that that one?
I guess from the resolution and B&W that this thing is essentially the scanning guts of a fax machine. Making it cheap but also leading to those bits being reasonably decent!
My mom swears by split keyboards. The only thing that's kept her going at our job after multiple carpal tunnel surgeries. unfortunately outside of the Microsoft option, split ergo keyboards are either super overpriced, a novelty toy like the 'Future' or both. So I make sure to snatch up those Microsoft boards whenever I see them.
15:57 "prop" money sure... I see you big baller
Those ESS Audiodrive sound chips are really good for DOS stuff.
Unreal mini gun sound
I was expecting that lil robot to start chasing lgr the minute the programming wasn't working
Lucky for her theirs plenty of job in the adult film industry!
22:28 so im curious, what will happen if you leave with duke alone, and fartwhistle is left behind in the house? Does the game takes perspective as duke now? Does fartwhistle still doing whatever he does in the background like sims 3 was? All these years playing sims 3 makes me not comprehend this style of gameplay in sims 4.
The Acer keyboard looks comfy though.
Hey, it *does* sound like G-Man! Especially when he says "No regrets, Mr. Bassinger?" Words I never thought I'd say "No thank you. I'd not like a BJ."
Scan documents with your keyboard, listen to the radio on your mouse, have a cigarette lighter and ashtray in a drive bay; what's next, use your monitor tilt as a joystick, read CDs with your tinny 2.0 speakers, change channels on your TV with foot pedals?
Oddly enough the foot pedals changing channels _is_ entirely a thing using a Foot Mouse and a TV tuner card 😄
Excellent.
I really thought Clint had a fat wad of Benjamin Franklins like the baller he is
Was not expecting to see an I-Ninja mention in an LGR video, even if it was just an ad. Thanks for showing us these wacky things!
oddly poor design, could have an extension on the yoke piece to not have it bump into the table, and a thing for the shaft to not make it slip out.
*PAINCAXE*
That "whole crap YES give me more!" Was perfect.
Ahh. The old 90's classic. It basically functions at all. Good luck.
the definition of insanity
this was a fun game. we had it in a huge Sim bundle. almost as good as Death Drome, have you heard of that one Clint?
this game still has good graphics
You'll get my Northgate Omnikey when you scoop it from under my cold dead fingers
The most important thing is not the graphics, but the gameplay, the story and the world building, people forget that, that's why most games today sucks. I still have this game, and I still play it to this day, it's more fun than many games out there. pure nostalgia.
This thing looks pretty slick.
I remember photocopying that red SimCity sheet nearly a dozen times with different settings, trying to find one that worked. I think that I finally was able to make a copy that was barely legible in just the right light. I don't remember whether I was doing it in order to give the game to a friend or if I just wanted a backup copy.
RIP Unreal Tournament series 🪦
Notification Squad!!! :D
My man, please do yourself a favour and give it a break with all the scanners and printers for a while. Gotta try and retain some of that sanity.
Imagine a world where instead of scanner/printers being the standard, it was scanner/keyboards.
9:39 Dunno if its my tired brain, but for a second there I thought you were going to try to put the disc through the scanner, lmao
Thanks for covering these! The scanner keyboard is a surprisingly decent piece of hardware for it's time, if not for the drivers. But then again, most of hardware used to be like that - you plugged it in hoping it will work and it didn't, while running just fine on your friend's pc which often didn't even met all the spec requirements 🙃
The tech this was based on showed up on a high school physics test here.
I bet you can turn those arrow keys into a pseudo-thumb cluster, like those modern ergo-keyboards have, by using a key-mapper like Kanata, keyd, Kmonad, etc.
That Future Keyboard is almost exactly like my setup lol. I have a "dygma raise" split keyboard with an apple trackpad in the middle.
That music though 🥹
HP Laserjet 5L because it looks super 1990s with those beige and weird curves.
Resident Evil 4 on GameCube was fantastic! Night and day difference to the PS2 port.
ฉันรักทุกสิ่ง.ในยุค 90
Full GUI BIOS on a 1994 PC??? What kind of witchcraft is this???
i wasnt born until nearly a decade after this pc's era but it's cool to watch :) I've got a socket AM3 build in the works for my girlfriend, since i have lots and lots of old towers from my parents garage, I'm gonna learn a lot more about old pc parts before i mess around with them, because it's all so cool
I will never understand the box-art marketing of the 90s. They always seem to have had some bright yellow box border with some wacky font.
and just like that, it's been 14 years
hi click
22:15 I'm left handed and a trackball veteran, but I can't use a trackball left handed to save my life
