    I’ve had that feeling a few times. Once at Pipe, once at Steamer Lane on a massive day during the El Niño of 97/98, and one freak wave in Oceanside on a macking south. That thing dragged me underwater from all the way outside for about 50 yards right onto the beach. I kept begging for my leash to break and when I washed up on the sand I started laughing hysterically. The wave Bruce is describing definitely would have ended me.

    I don’t think Parko is trying to be very specific here. He’s broadly referring to oxycodone, regardless of the dosage, which was on full swing in the US back then following the FDA approval of oxycontin. A lot of professional athletes got hooked after using it to deal with lingering injuries. Shame it’s happened to Andy, the level of surfing he’s shown us during those 4-5 years is well above the state of today’s WSL.

    No one's out surfing it!!?? Don't know, maybe the spot is really difficult to surf or too dangerous? I know the water is really cold, and sure it's brown, but I knew there's some really hard core surfers over there. I'm born and raised on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii and have been surfing for 59 years now, and I grew up in a beach house right at Ehukai Beach/Pipeline. Been surfing my whole life! Yeah man this and other spots over there do get really heavy and good size, but I don't think it happens like this much, so it's rare, unlike the winter surf we get in the Hawaiian islands which is really consistent. Sick wave! Nowadays guys will tow in to waves like this with a ski. That's some heavy spitting tubes there!!! Yeah since I was born in 1960, I literally could look right out my window and porch at Pipeline, and in the early 70's when I started surfing Pipeline, it was just truly "the country", out on the North Shore of Oahu. It was sugar cane fields everywhere and no crowds and just so nice!!! I'm so blessed and grateful I grew up surfing there back then, because the boys had it all to themselves and it was so laid back!!!! Today, Pipeline will get over 100 surfers out on good days, and it's just crazy, especially for such a dangerous wave, and the deadliest wave on the planet. More people have died surfing Pipeline than any other wave, and I suspect that will continue for decades!!! I've seen many surfers die or drown surfing Pipeline over the years. I have had 5 of my good friend die surfing it, one in my arms as I tried to swim him into the beach giving him cpr. You don't hear this name much these days now, but, my friend Mark Cunningham, who I grew up and went to school with, was a lifeguard at Ehukai Beach, and he saved so many surfers lives over the years at Pipeline, he's an absolute legend and world class body surfer!!! Even Eddie Aikau who saved so many surfers at Waimea Bay, and many others I was blessed to have as friends who were famous Hawaiian waterman!!! I've saved so many people in the country myself, including lots of tourists, who got knocked over by a surge of water near the shore break and sucked into it and taken out in the undertow and rip current!!! The worst, was when this would happen in the late evening around sunset after 5pm when the lifeguards were gone, and if someone who was a great surfer and swimmer wasn't there to save them, they often were never seen again!!! On big step laddering afternoons it would get really big and breaking on the outer reefs and "cloudbreaks", and it's just so dangerous it's insane!!! Hawaii's North and West shores get huge surf in the winters, and it's really awesome to watch but people need to stay way up high on the beaches far from the shorebreaks where it can suddenly wash way up the beach after a few huge sets, and it's very dangerous for people who don't understand this. I always try to warn people, especially visiting tourists and especially if they have children with them, and I take the time to point out the dangers and get them to keep up high on the beaches so they will be safe!!! It's awesome to watch, but absolutely deadly in the water and surf!!! Cool, thanks for sharing this spitting barrel in NJ!! Aloha D.L.

    I'm curious, with so much information on heroin, why does anyone start it? Why would anyone take a substance that could literally kill them the first time they take it?

  • @izzy031096
    @izzy03109612 сағат бұрын

    Almost nobody starts with heroin. They start with prescription opiates like Oxy’s or percs (used to be just morphine). Then when they can’t get scripts any more, or run out of money to feed the prescription painkiller addiction, they turn to far cheaper street alternatives like heroin, and now fentanyl.
