The Best Surfing of the Season (So Far) at Lowers | June - July 2020 Amp Sessions

Lower Trestles is basically the ocean’s version of a wave pool, with some of the best surfers in the world making the long trek (or the short one for those that own an electric bike), down on the daily all summer. The lineup at Lowers is a who’s who of surfing in June and July, where on any given day you can expect to see at least one surfer from the ‘CT dominating the rippable peak. Recently, with COVID shutting down international travel, Lowers has been more star-studded (and also more crowded) than usual, with three of the Top-5 - Filipe Toledo, Kolohe Andino, and Caroline Marks - all often surfing at the same time.
Click play for two months of Trestles shredding boiled down to an eight-minute “Amp Sessions”. We expect this will have you frothing for a surf. (But maybe avoid Lowers if you actually expect to catch a wave.)

For pro surfers, the same old air reverse shouldn't be awarded a high score unless the air is 6 feet plus.....what about scoring higher for surfing switch? I believe pros shoukd ALL be learning everything in their arsenal swith stance.

I just got done watching this, then I watched Kelly Slater's black and white. Slater's section for lowers when he won the bud tour contest still puts these guys to shame. Go and look back at the footage Slater surf better then than these guys do now.

@@sumatran I haven't seen it but I'll check it out, I don't doubt he was schooling everybody. Thanks brother. I remember the first time I met Slater back in 1991, I was being such an a****** to him we were at a recording studio here in San Diego. I was in the middle of recording an album and he was with Peter King and Rob Machado practicing for that CD they made called The Surfers. Now at the time PK and I had known each other through music and surfing together, so he called me out and said you need to go apologize. I walk over extended my hand and said sorry about giving you crap for your choice of guitar. To my utter surprise his reply was, "I don't find it offending I'm out of my element in this recording studio environment". After I picked my jaw up off the floor we proceeded to talk about music, not surfing for at least a couple hours. as a semi professional surfer in my young childhood years I also grew up in a house full of music and musicians. The one thing that the general public understands about Kelly is when he gets into something whether it be softball, table tennis, or especially golf, he becomes very focused and willing to learnto get better at whatever it is he's interested at. Not to mention the fact he is very humble during the learning process of something new to him. I know he still has one more world title in him. I'm going to go watch that video right nowand again I appreciate you bringing it to my attention. I guess the reason I told you about my first interaction with Slater is if you haven't met him yet if you get the chance to don't talk about surfing. And I hope you're in that atmosphere where you're able to talk to him one-on-one without a s*** ton of people around. He just might surprise you.
