Tom Curren still has my favorite bottom turn of all-time. Beautiful lean and arm placement at the bottom turn as well as keeping his arm beautifully placed when he drives up the face. I love the way it looks like his whole forearm on his forehand is still barely touching and gliding along the surface of the face as he points his board up the wave and projecting upward, after doing the bottom turn. Just fluid and has a beautiful flow in the whole sequence for such a guy who seems so short compared to his pro peers. I love how sometimes he completely redirects his bottom turn to go STRAIGHT down the face or even inwards towards the bottom just to stay close to the white water section of the wave, instead of doing the bottom turn farther out on the on the wave. Current favorite surfer with their bottom turn is Jai Glindeman. Way he tucks his knee and stays compressed and his arm placement is just poetry. Ethan Ewing and JJF too. Very stylish and perfect but unique l placement of arms. Ethan is a bit more compressed and really keeps his forehand super close and inwards almost like he’s touching his toes when coming down for his bottom turn. JJF sort of has both his arms pointing straight down as if they’re hanging down dead towards the water as he comes down to the bottom. So unique and obviously generates unholy amounts of power in whatever he decides to do with it when driving up back to the top of the lip.

Frontside bottom turn is the easy task.. backside bottom turn technique is the real timming challenge. Please ! 😂😅😅 Thanks for the technical details and hoping for the bs version . So helpful 🙏🙏

Please do a backside bottom turn video

So I have a habit of paddling in and fist thing I do is grab my rail and crank it over but is this a bad habit or is it just simply part of my style? I normally don’t even get to the bottom of the wave I’m just on the face right off the bat idk if this is bad or good. Ik I tend to generate speed rlly quick this way
