Nice vid! What’s the difference between “re-entry” and “snap”?

Snaps used to be short cutbacks but now a snap is almost synonymous with re-entry.

How and when on a wave to lift and shift the back foot back over the fins for a turn.

Assuming I understood your question correctly and you're riding a shortboard/fish approximately your height or less: DURING a turn, you'll generally always want your back foot all the way back over the REAR fin(s) and sitting against the rear of your traction pad unless you're mason ho. If you're coming out of a more forward position and want to shift the foot back before a turn, it just needs to be done while you're relatively upright and neutral before your bottom turn. The pros can do it during/after the bottom turn and any other time they want, but a normal human just needs a split second of standing upright between pumps to shift it back. If you're pumping through a barrel, hauling ass and standing in the middle of your board and want to lay down a big turn right after, just neutralize your weight for a split second before the bottom turn, shift the back foot back and then power into the rail for the bottom turn. Filipe Toledo and John Florence have always been magicians with that since they land so far forward on reverses. You can make your own how-to vid for now by watching them slow-mo. Dane's longer videos on chapter 11 TV have a ton of barrel/turn combos that you can slow-mo But yes please Surfer that's a good concept to explore and have an actual pro and coach explain it properly

Show a step-by-step breakdown of popping up on a shortboard board on land. There's so much BS out there about the correct technique, so would be great to finally get some clarity from a pro/pro coach.

Front side snaps and re entries are 10X harder then backside IMO.
