Even though you say that we shouldn’t worry too much about the pattern because we don’t know how to draft it yet, i thought i understood by watching your videos that the sewing lines were a 1/2 inch in from the paper pattern edges as a general rule. Knowing that, i dont understand why the pattern line at the shoulder dont directly follow this rule and we have to re mark a new pattern line from the original one in order to find our sewing line. Do we need more sewing allowance in weird ways in this the center of the shoulder ? Isn’t it easier/less confusing to incorporate it in the inlay ? I hope i make sense, this is a lot for me to write in english. Lots of love <3

When you say "you can double your body canvas if you don't have horsehair", do you mean you can add one more layer of body canvas, or you cut two layers of bodycanvas for each piece of horsehair? Thanks a lot

Ive read every tailoring text I can find, am a little in awe of what you are sharing here. This isn’t a criticism of the texts, there’s so much to learn and they have only so many pages to say what to do. But when you explain here WHY to do, it gives so much more freedom and intelligence in working. Very grateful.

I have a question! How thick would the felt layer need to be under the moleskin for it to work like described? Would 5mm be enough or should I go for 10mm? Thanks so much for all those lessons!🙏

The thing that helped me get a feel for warp versus weft is images of really old weaving setups like the one on the ancient Greek vase visible at kzread.info/dash/bejne/lWeBsNqYgcK5naQ.html . You can see the warp threads hanging straight down, pulled down by heavy weights tied to their bottoms, while the weavers zigzag the weft threads sideways through them.

0:27 It should be relatively easy nowadays to use a 2D CNC machine to turn a template pattern into a more solid wooden or plexiglass ruler. You can also turn a paper template into a wooden ruler with a bandsaw and some care though nowadays it’s probably nearly as cheap to use the CNC.

Great interview. I had the pleasure of knowing Frank when I lived in NYC from 2000-2002 during an angst-ridden time of my life. I took the subway with him to Kingsway Boxing Club on E 28th St several times a week when I left work, which was a few doors down from where his shop was on E 53rd St. I even had his headshot on my office door as well as one of his children's book illustrations. Just a genuine, down to earth, no bulls-t dude. A true renaissance man whom I always found fascinating and humorous. By the way, Frank, I still want my Lennox Lewis-Hasim Rahman I VHS tape back...lol!
