I'm hoping Dubas can make the Ehlers/Mcgrorty trade happen. I truly believe it will answer a current need ( Ehlers) and also a future need( Mcgrorty) .and mark my words - if Dubas pulls this off the Pens will be a team that's gonna surprise you. I'm hoping to see this, I can see a good future for the Penguins if this comes to pass.

If and this is a big "IF" but if the Penguins can get both Ehlers and McGroarty without having to give up too much than this next few years might be better but #DumbassDubas has screwed this team up even worse than Hextall/Burke a few years back. The Pens are still older, smaller, weaker and slow. All things #DumbassDubas said he was going to fix but didnt. The next four years of Sid, Geno, Tanger and EK will be mediocre at best and honestly I would not blame the big three for wanting one last true chance at a cup before they retire someplace else. I have been a Pens fan for over 30 years and this is just bringing back memories of the 2000-05 years where the team was terrible enough to get top five and even top draft picks which brought Penguins fans a beautiful 20 years but sadly its over for the next bit. I honestly think the Penguins would've been better off with Brad Treliving as the GM and the biggest thing would be FSG not buying the Penguins and someone with true passion and love for the City of Pittsburgh and the Penguins to take over. Here is to the next five years of decline along with watching the big three end up leaving for one more chance at the cup.

I could see a three team trade so that we get Laine, Columbus retaining 20-30% of his salary, and a third team retaining 20% of his salary for a draft pick or a player.

The defense will be worse . Nobody wants to play Defense . They all want to be goal scorers . If last season was Letang's best we are doomed . Letang got burned so many times . Somebody needs to teach Letang how to play D . Letang has played an entire season once I think . We pay a guy all that money to not work very often and just sit at home .

I'd like to see the Pens get Nikolai Ehlers but why not just try to swap DOC with Anthony Bouvilleau and try that combo on for size. I think this team might surprise people this year, ya never know. Bottom line is Thank God we STILL have the Penguins to cheer for- look at Arizona.

Laine would come at the cheapest he'd be in his entire career, he is a pure goal scorer, and he can play the left half-wall on the powerplay, all things we need. He has some downsides, particularly in his defensive play, but if you have him on the top line with Sid, then Sid has the 200 ft. game covered. He is exactly what the Pens need right now, in my opinion. He would bring some excitement to the team as well, while we're in this rebuild, or retool or whatever it is Dubas has us doing right now. We'd just have to move someone out to make cap space for him. Are we on his 10-team no-trade list though? If not, Dubas should open the wallet and actually spend some assets to get a legit top-liner. Unless... Dubas comes out of nowhere with the atomic elbow drop from the top ropes with some unexpected, huge 3-team trade and hits us with a Jarry, Graves, Eller unloading and gets Rossi and Gustavsson. (in my dreams)

I'm not entirely happy nor upset with the team construction right now. I understand what direction dubi is going in, I just wish crosby and the core weren't running out of time (but that's life). I do think they can be competitive and possibly push for a playoff spot. I'm also not entirely sold that hayes will be the 3c. I can see him as the 4c and bring a brian boyle type of game with lizzotte and acari on the wings to drive the speed and forecheck. Eller with Pusti and bell or one of the stand out prospects (pono, kov, etc.) and we now have decent depth. Its not championship caliber but it could get us into the playoffs imo.

Did we forget that this team was going to make the playoffs before guentzel and Rust got hurt? Then looked like a playoff team at the end of the season once rust came back and bunting was added and they sorted out the new pieces? This team still employs a lot of talent. They just didn’t gel until the end of last season. They have another offseason to gel together now. All the disappointing players started to play better at the end of the season once they gelled with their new teammates.

I'm not entirely happy nor upset with the team construction right now. I understand what direction dubi is going in, I just wish crosby and the core weren't running out of time (but that's life). I do think they can be competitive and possibly push for a playoff spot. I'm also not entirely sold that hayes will be the 3c. I can see him as the 4c and bring a brian boyle type of game with lizzotte and acari on the wings to drive the speed and forecheck. Eller with Pusti and bell or one of the stand out prospects (pono, kov, etc.) and we now have decent depth. Its not championship caliber but it could get us into the playoffs imo.

Did we forget that this team was going to make the playoffs before guentzel and Rust got hurt? Then looked like a playoff team at the end of the season once rust came back and bunting was added and they sorted out the new pieces? This team still employs a lot of talent. They just didn’t gel until the end of last season. They have another offseason to gel together now. All the disappointing players started to play better at the end of the season once they gelled with their new teammates.
I'm just hoping we're better than Washington
