I never understood how cables made an impact for the very reason you outlined: everything is happening before the transformer and filtering. Why would it matter if the cable going through your house suddenly changed to a different material for a few feet before it got to that transformer, rectifier, and filter? Is the cable filtering anything? Is it keeping out noise that only appears in your living room but not in your wall? I just want an explanation from these people
I don't think the hair dye job was worth it. Not unlike expensive cables.
Excellent summary of many of the points you’ve made over the years. The one I connected with is seeking validation after purchase. At some point I realized that I just needed to stop watching reviews and just spend the time enjoying content and getting know my gear. I took six months off KZread and it made a big difference. Now I can watch reviews just for entertainment while I enjoy the gear I have, a lot based on Audioholics recommendations.
Gene.. I fully agree your vie about the surrounds.. same importance tobe given as we give toLCR..multi ch. music listening will prove this..
You remind me of something i did years ago that i only recently figured out and am ashamed of. My buddy bought my Yamaha receiver and two 15", 400-watt cerwin vega speakers. He asked if the receiver has the ohm switch for the 4ohm speakers, and i showed him and switched it to 4ohm as he wanted it to be. Once getting it all hooked up i could not for the life of me figure out why the windows were not being blown out of his house like i told him this setup was capable of doing. Lol. I never thought of it until many years later and long after i had not seen him, that the reason was that switch being moved to "4 ohm ".
You're an i.d.i.o.t if you think cables don't make a difference.
I have found out that the whole music experience sounds a lot better when you are with friends drinking wine! That alone enhances everything much more than you can imagine 😀😀😀
"you don't need validation from others, even from us" is very honest and revealing, thanks for that! 👋
Great Vid!!!! I totally agree with you on all of your points, but most especially cables. I've seen wars break out over cables with the audiophiles trashing anyone who dares to disagree with them about their $1000.00 cables making a huge difference. So long as you replace the wire that comes in the box with something decent from say Amazon, you are good to go!
i have a pair of the HSUs and have been very pleased.
@Audioholics Gene, does your testing result and advice regarding the low impedance selector switch also apply to 4-ohm and other low impedance taps on tube amps?
This is beautiful Gene! We couldn’t agree more. Great video!
My favorite that drives me nuts is indeed sound clips on KZread. There are audiophile channels where the KZreadr has spent thousands of $ in microphones and dummy heads.😂 I’m a retired electrical engineer, yet The one area where I diverge a bit from you is cables. You put so much focus on the measurements, whereas I focus on how they sound in my system. Mind you, I bought a pair of somewhat inexpensive Nordost flatlines 20 years ago and never looked back. Thanks for your videos, Gene. You do a great job.
How noisy are the amps on these? Is there a lot of hiss from the speakers when there's no sound?
Live reinforcement for avg "band": sound wall, 2 stand mounted monitors similar to a Klipsch Heresy. The bass and guitar players have their own amps or are direct into venue PA system setup. Basic mic mix into the monitors. So, to my point: youll always want a separate sub or 2
appreciate this video, but apart from any measurable or noticeable audible different in actual cables, i'm wondering how much audible difference there may be due to shielding when you have sloppy installs or too many wires including power and interconnects. is interference of any kind an issue or is that a non issue... and not sure how you measure that performance...
I have 2 SVS SB 2000s they are awesome for the money. I wish i had purchased the pro series though.
Yeah stick with your Akai amplifier...no way you can find better ! Your channel is a comedian channel...
You and your theoretical equipment demonstrate,in the best way, that you should switch to a cooking chanel !
Sure...all cables are identical!! Guess you choose carefully your toilet paper ! Because they are not the same... But all cables are identical! I have been 25 years one of the biggest High End dealer in Europe...and now you comes out and tell me that crap ! What about making a cooking chanel ??
Put a Richard Cheese spin on your spoken while playing. Or maybe even a Dan Band thing or something. That would grab’em!
Gene, a man of many talents, impressed!
Some are highs, others are lows but in the end we all share the same frequency.
