I had heard how instrumental the guitar player was to this band, but didn't really grasp his importance until I saw this video. I have always liked this band .

Has anyone seen the movie? “My Own Private Idaho,” 1991. Directed by Gus Van Sant, who was inspired by this song’s title. (It is a play on words: “state” as in state of mind, or a state geographically.) A story about the loves and lives of street hustlers in Portland, OR. Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix in the bloom of their youth. It’s a classic. Available cheap on Prime.

This was their peak: still fresh, but broken in and more musically adept. Their confidence shines through. They take chances. By this point it was common knowledge no new wave band would ever catch them.

Back in the 80s I saw the B-52s at an outdoor concert much like this one, held near Toronto, Ontario. The bands were all new wave and punk, some quite well known. They took their turns coming from their hangout backstage and performing three or four songs. But when the B-52s came out for their performance, ALL the other bands moved from backstage to a fenced-off section directly in front of the stage so they could watch their set. No other band got that treatment. And they did not disappoint. After the doom-scrolling punk crap, the B-52s in a few minutes injected a huge dose of energy and enthusiasm into the whole place.

Holy shit, it kind of does!! Guys - check this out! It's the bit from No More Heroes, but it somehow also fits over Go Buddy Go's 12 bar thing!!! Genius. Total, mind blowing genius.
