The B-52s, LIVE at the mighty - Us Festival, back in 1982.
In 1982, the 1st version of The Us Festival happened, attracting a then-ridiculous-sounding 400,000 people in attendance across a 3-day weekend.
One of the acts on the first day, New Wave Day, was The MIGHTY B-52s. !

Kate Pierson is the B-52's own Ray Manzarek: bass keyboard, organ, and vocals. And in high heels and a bouffant hairdo!

Just killing it... way ahead of their time... still fresh today! What an original act / group!
This was their peak: still fresh, but broken in and more musically adept. Their confidence shines through. They take chances. By this point it was common knowledge no new wave band would ever catch them.

Brilliantly said - So true ...... we love your comment: " Their confidence shines through. They take chances. By this point it was common knowledge no new wave band would ever catch them. " Pure MAGIC ........................
It was decades later when I learned this song is about Carol King.

Brilliant!
Muy buen concierto... gracias por compartirlo
Love how they put different, quirky styles and influences into a musical blender and out came gloriously catchy music. In lesser hands it might have sounded silly and unlistenable. But this band made it work.
Has anyone seen the movie? “My Own Private Idaho,” 1991. Directed by Gus Van Sant, who was inspired by this song’s title. (It is a play on words: “state” as in state of mind, or a state geographically.) A story about the loves and lives of street hustlers in Portland, OR. Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix in the bloom of their youth. It’s a classic. Available cheap on Prime.
Great song. GA. They rep
❤🔥

Halfway through the video and still not one shot of Cindy? WTF??
