We do all things Brompton! From Adventure to Modifications. So come and explore...
The channel was established on September 2023 as I felt there was a lack of information around Bromptons when I looked to purchase my first used Brompton. Since then I've published lots of videos and hope certain gaps and questions have started to be answered.
We ride in all terrains and conditions and have a Brompton made for each one! Our M line to tackle all things off road and our P line to take on the toughest of challenges.
I'm just your average rider like most my viewers and love to share my honest opinion with the videos I make, my aim is to own all the different Brompton lines to draw the most fairest of comparisons
We attempted to post once a week on Wednesday at 2pm

That was a really fun series, thanks for showing how capable the Brompton is! My fiancé and I are getting them soon, and we are so excited. It's very inspiring to see how much you can do with them. Looking forward to seeing more adventures, and very much looking forward to going on our own adventures!
It would be interesting to hear why they can't just expand in Greenford. There is plenty of industrial space in that area, existing public transit, housing density, and even a canal if they want an eco-friendly way to move their goods to a port for export. Their existing faculty has only a few dozen parking places not because it's eco-progressive but simply because it's in an older denser urban industrial area where open space is not wasted on seas of parking. Building on a greenfield site will always have a huge negative environmental impact. The change in location will also either force existing employees to spend an hour and a half on two trains each way, or they'll quit due to the commute. Good on Brompton for fighting mindless mandates to build new parking facilities next to unused existing ones, but in the bigger picture it might be better not to move at all.
check out the car parked on the cycle path
Thanks it was really educated video on P line. A quick question, my tall is 1.80 cm would you recommend M or H for me
Very good. Had my first Brompton in 2002. Didn’t realise about the serial number. Thanks for that. I see you’re cycling in Cardiff Bay and that seems to be one of the Welsh valleys at the end? Not far from me you appear to be.
See the bike tackle the UK's best off-road event! kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4iizpd_pdfTndY.html
This is not a brompton !!
Yeah it's a Brompton+... See it in action here! kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4iizpd_pdfTndY.html
on the electrics, i don't get the weight advantage selling - how many steps am i carrying the bike? or boots of cars/busses am i lifting the bike on/off? how much faster will i get about my day with the lighter weight? how much range will i gain with motor and battery being the same with the lighter weight? the selling strategy doesn't make sense to me.
I’m 5’10 and ride an S stem, I prefer the lower riding position. I’ve noticed I’m getting a bit of pain in my upper back/shoulders on longer (for me!) rides of over 20 miles. Last weekend I tried mimicking a bar end hand position where I felt safe (smooth roads as I didn’t have a full grip on the bars). This really helped so I think I’ll try some Ergon GP3 grips with bar ends. I’d be curious to know if you’ve tried these and what you think?
Inspiring. Makes me want to get out exploring.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Always the aim my friend 😬. Go get it done 👍🏻
When I (under 6-1/2') tried out the S M H stem-handlebar configurations, the the most comfortable for me was the H stem bar angled 1cm+ towards me. As you noted, that slight adjustment still allowed it to fold. That's the one am saving up to get... 12 speed... electric... gonna be awhile. 🙂😉 edited for typos
Tell you what. It is very good to hear from a guy that is a very experienced cyclist. Keep up the good work.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Get a Vello instead.
Do you have a Vello?
Well done, it is a hard race. 2023 was lovely, 2024 was extreme… it harder, colder and cherry on the cake, got pneumonia and 10days with the nhs… Your video shows some of the hard bit but it was much harder than it seems. Well done for doing it on 20”!
I did hear multiple times it was the hardest version yet! I feel lucky now cause all I came out with was a slightly bashed right leg. Hope all is well now. Looking forward to see if 2025 returns to a normal less extreme version 😆
@@TheBromptonGuy well i started active recovery on my 20” mini velo so hopefully i will be back racing in june
Interesting and informative. Pity we couldn't see some of your demos which were out of frame.
Thanks for the feedback and completely agree. My monitor ran out of battery and was winging it! Didn't have time to reshoot cause I had to travel back to Wales from Scotland and now working all of this week. Improvements coming next week 🤣
Great video with music to match 👌🚲 Cheers 👍
Thanks for the support! Was an amazing trip and looking forward to my next outing.
@@TheBromptonGuy I'll be watching that too 🙂🚲👍
I have the H stem on mine, but paired with flat bars, folds fine
I do reckon I'll give this combination a go for sure. Would like slightly wider bars for my off-road brompton.
As a Dane I had no choice but got my bike as a finished bike in the shop, from several to chose from. I bought the very Top in the Shop, a 2019 Flame Painted: "SuperlightM6LXBrompton" (And gave it a full Auto Polish as a first, just to find the ridiculous, clear tape "Protection" on its frame, from the Factory, nearly worn through to the paint, so I bought a new set of carbon plates from the largest suppliers of fine and exclusive, better and lighter Brompton Parts: China, Taiwan and Korea! But my stem post with the M handlebar is actually an H type, with the little distance below the hinge?? I'm well past 6" so it doesn't matter and our Danish, Brompton Bikes are seemingly all delivered as "Standard" with a grown size Seat Post of 600mm! No children sizes up here!! I do also have an original, black telescope post, but it is absurdly Heavy, most likely even in a "Joseph Kuosac", Taiwanese made, special version! Since then I have replaced most loose parts to new ones from Titanium and Carbon, so it is as light as possible, even with its mudguards, as a (Rainy) Dane!! Finn. Denmark
I did read that about Danish bikes coming with bigger lengths because most Danish bikes all come in a natural high sitting position but couldn't find anything official on the brompton website.
@@TheBromptonGuy I didn't see any among the several type Samples in the Shop, with an S bar? In this case it was also an ordinary bike shop (I only know of one special Brompton Shop?). And as we Danes mostly use our bikes near daily for rides in traffic, the most decent position when riding, is preferrable! So the M type was what they had! An S bar would compare to a Racing bike, without the possibilities for a better position also. Finn. Denmark
Great video. I have three bikes, but the Brompton is my go to bike which I've had for 23 years and it still will take me on a camping trip. By the way, I love the back ground music. RayC
Thank you for the comment Ray. Glad your getting some good use out a 23year old Brompton. Already feel like my P Line is starting to age.
I find the reach of the brompton just way too far, I like an upright position and even with the H handlebars I have to lean forward to reach the bars. I wish brompton made a stem that brings the bars a bit closer to the rider! For now I just use some aftermarket bars with a lot of backsweep, but it does increase the fold.
Very fair comment and certainly see your point. Suppose the only reason they avoid it is simply as you state the increased fold. It is amazing how many third party parts help people solve their problems
@@TheBromptonGuy Yeah I tried a stem extender too but they are quite heavy. I dream of owning a T-line at some point and seeing how there's no H Stem I would really need to Frankenstein a setup for that haha.
Nice vid. Other than stem length, is the shape different between the three models - ie, is there more or less of a 'bend' in one model or another? I ride an S stem bike, but after some back ache, I replaced the bar with a 40mm rise bar (cables were fine) and then changed that to a 80mm rise bar (had to change the cables to M type). Works well now and looks better than the factory M, imo, with a taller stem (S stem length > M stem length), and a less pronounced bend in the bars (more racy). And it folds ok, but maybe because I have a rack and wheels.... If I change my stem someday, I'd def go with an H stem for the reasons you mentioned, and come back to the more flattish 40mm rise bar, maybe with some backsweep.
Brillant comment, thank you for the input.
I am 6ft2 and find the M stem better for me though
Great video ,just to say resale value can be better for h line ,I had 2 for sale on eBay h line had more bids and fetched more money ,both bikes were same year .so it doesn't need to be a thing to worry about .looking forward to more videos
Thank for the input, not followed the second hand market closely enough but this is great to know. When I was looking for a second had brompton I wanted a S stem at the time but was really difficult to find.
Brompton should think about bringing back the that had the P - handle bars = the stem was shorter to allow the folding with those handle bars because they were taller bars much more versatile which gave you three options of holding the bars , after market have come up with mini P-handle bars but they are too small to get the true versatility of the original bars , that concludes the history of when you have something that’s good Brompton just leave it be , obviously another decision made around the coffee machine = my advice = get rid of the coffee machine maybe the good idea will stay .
I still promise at some point when my finances recover I'll try and review a set a P bars. Would be great for bike packing
@@TheBromptonGuy the new mini P bars are no good so don’t waste your time.
Hey Brompton Guy. Was chatting to you on the ferry to Arran. Said I would check out your channel to see when you post your Arran video. Great to see your last-minute trip was such a success!
I bought the brompton T-line 12 speed, absolutely love it
Not jealous at all 😒
I have a P-line CHPT4 and absolutely hammer on it. I live on a rural island on the PNW lots of wet crap roads. I have easily 4 times the miles on mine as you. I haven't had a single issue with my bike. Simple maintenance and lots of good riding.
Great looking P Line the CHPT4 version. I reckon that's the last CHPT4 they will make. Glad you've not had any issue my friend 👌🏻
I think it is my first coment on this channel. Really liking this type of content. And we do like the Bromptons. We are Brompton enthusiasts here in Portugal, we have at the moment 3, 2 conventional and 1 electric. The goal is having 4. But about this video amazing Scotish landscapes. I shall say, keep up the good content, also I have a channel. PS: Almost forgot, 😅, I am subscribed to this channel sometime ago. Cheers for the amazing video👌💯.
Thank you so much for the wonderful comment. I love your Brompton! is that the Cooper finish you have it in? I want 4 Bromptons! P, T, M and a P electric.
@@TheBromptonGuy yes it is indeed... It has the raw lacquer finish with gold brazing. And we also have another c line 6 speed orange, that is for my younger sister, and we have a share electric Brompton P line bolt blue lacquer between me and my father, and it is a 4 speed bike. We love the magical push of it. Oh and I am in the process of making some strategic modifications on mine, to be more eficient on climbs and lighter too, without changin the british design of my raw lacquer Brompton!🤎💯🤩
Hi, can you share where you got your panniers and how you have it set up? Thank you!
Thanks for the comment but I personally don't have panniers for my brompton but I can recommend this. www.kinetics-online.co.uk/folding-bikes/brompton/brompton-pannier-rack/
Thanks! I thought I saw panniers on the bike on the P line overview. 🤷🏾♀️
Just did a similar distance bikepacking on the Brompton from Pittsburgh, PA to Cumberland, MD on my brompton (only video on my channel haha). It did better than the 20 inch wheels of the other bike we had with us. Anyway, amazing work recording your journey! Would love to bikepack on the Brompton in Europe someday as well. Happy travels.
Just had a watch their interesting to see the Zizzo opted for rear loading and you front loaded, did you decided if one was better than the other? I'm very much the same would love to bikepack other countries. If you make it to the UK let me know and maybe we can do a day together 👌🏻. Thank you for your support to the channel
@@TheBromptonGuy Thanks for checking it out! The Brompton definitely felt more comfortable with dividing the load between the front and rear, but part of that may have been having unbalanced weight on the back of the Zizzo since it only had one side pannier. We actually took turns using the Brompton because it felt so much smoother and somehow just kept momentum better. If we gave it another shot though I’d put thicker knobby style tires on the zizzo and compare how they both ride on the crushed limestone again.
@@TheBromptonGuyAlso would definitely take you up on riding if I’m ever traveling through there! Same offer to you if you’re ever in my area 🚴♂️
I do enjoy your videos, as all owners do. The issues you highlight are valid, however "brompton" the company are more concerned what type of bag and colour the bikes should be to sell now a days as they have come to the limits of what can be done to a 16" folding bicycle with the current development team, the "T" line is a bit of a joke too ( so I wouldnt wait on a email) Theoretically the buyer will customise their bike to suit their needs as ""Will said, so the price is subject to what the buyer can calculate or justify it is worth to them. You and others who put 20" wheels on was a step forward as well as the 14" wheel version in Asian countries, making a bike to suit your/peoples needs. You'll have to spend a bit more money to solve your problems on the "P" line, but in return you get a bike you'll enjoy to ride.
Great comment and agree fully on ever word said! Thank you for your support of the channel and a true pleasure to make brompton content
I own the C-line 6 speed and a S6L. On the electric, because I always use some kind of assistance, I can push a higher gear more consistently and I'm less picky about gear selection. On the regular 6 speed, I wish I had the 12 speed gearing which gives a larger range and more gears in the middle range to select from. The e-Brompton is already too expensive, and I'm not really sure I like to pay even more money to get the 12 speed version over the 6 speed. I do agree it wouldn't make much sense to keep the 6 speed as a SKU anymore, but personally I like my 6 speed Electric and I'm glad I bought one over the 12 speed.
Thank you for the comment. The electric is the next Brompton I need to get once I get money and thinking i'll get a second hand 4 speed p line electric. Thinking for me with my currently level of fitness should make a good touring bike.
Any Destilleries or other proper targets on this island? Okay I saw Oban! You are able to buy a special hanger with room for a folded Brompton and Brompton size wheels, as extra help! Finn. Denmark
Finn mate always told you when you make it over to the UK we'll hit a distillery for sure. Also I'm currently working on a video about the chpt3 bromptons which I hope you enjoy.
Congratulations, excellent video. One question, why carry a bag on your back, could Brompton bags be better on the front or because of the 10 Kg weight limit, do you prefer to carry more weight on your back...?? It is comfortable to carry weight on your back, it provides freedom and exhausts less..??
Great question! I hate having a rucksack for sure and won't be doing it like that anytime soon, only did it like that cause I don't have the correct bags yet and my friend gave me a tent and was just like "Let's go cause the weather looks nice" all very last moment but major learns from it. That said I think the rucksack helps when climbing step as the weight comes out the saddle with me 🤷🏻♂️
@@TheBromptonGuy OK Take care of your health and we look forward to more videos with Brompton. You plan to create videos with trailers hitched to your Brompton, in the
I love my brompton 2 speed ❤
An absolute solid bike. You picked well.
Super journey,thankyou,regards from England.
It's amazing how this bike is used for long distance bikepacking
It blows my mind! only touched the surface with this first ride. Thanks for watching
Nice trip! I never use backpacks for my bikepacking trips, I just hate it. Why not use a front bag?
Excellent, I think the same. Brompton and other companies like Vincita have created excellent bags for traveling comfortably, lightly and with pleasure. I prefer to take care of my back, considering the effort made on the trip, the back should be without load.
I 110% agree! I only used it cause it's all I had and the weather was looking great so was like "I need to just go" and so grateful I did cause I learned a lot. Thanks for watching
Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed seeing this little trip. The Brompton is a capable tourer and, loaded up on tarmacked roads, it’s a joy 🤗
The joys of a content creator having to carry more gear (weight) to be able to share the experience. Oh..and the issue of keeping everything charged up! Well done.
Thank you! I would say it adds at least 15% more effort on the trip and another 10% to make the video 🤣
Nice video! Thanks for taking this handicapper with you!
What an absolute pleasure! Will be your travel tour guide happily, just name a place you would like to see and if I can ride it I will try. Thanks for watching
No front bag, radical 😮 looks like a good trip. Rather you than me, too lazy 🦥 and old for this kind of thing. Thanks for sharing.
lol great comment 😆 thanks for sharing
Beautiful ! you had 3 choice weather days in a row! What a beautiful route, thank you for sharing
It's the only reason I was like "I better go do this". Very under prepared but what a journey it was.
Beautiful scenery and a lovely video - No Rain too, how did you manage that ?
The gods where in my favour and not complaining one bit!
It’s me the person with the worst suggestion that many have thought of and put them in the bin where they belong = with me unfortunately don’t have a bin so then you have to read this garbage = so then this weeks word that not be read = why more people who do backpacking don’t consider the trailer Chubby by Radical Design, I my opinion the best trailer suitable for the Brompton, this trailer is completely different and has many attributes especially for the Brompton, the second rubbish idea that hasn’t been invented yet if we forget about the dynamo front wheel that’s available obviously, you would think that something could be made like a mini wind turbine that fit on any bike for the sole purpose of a charger for phone or laptop batteries, as a stupid experiment get a small windmill as used by kids for playing put it on the bike be it handlebars or wherever on the bike see that windmill turn like crazy , that concludes the rubbish ideas for this week , stay tuned for upcoming rubbish ideas.
the trailer Chubby by Radical Design,..???....Without a doubt one of the best folding bike trailers for Bromptons, but carrying a trailer means more work, more accessories and if the dream is to travel light, a trailer may not be the best solution. Yes, I am worried about carrying weight on my back, for health, for ergonomics. I prefer to use the Brompton bags that are located in the front, although they have a weight limit of 10 Kgs. Today there are many possibilities for light and practical Bikepacking. The Vincita company in Thailand (online sales) sells excellent bags and accessories for Brompton, I have purchased 5 items from them (3 bags). Greetings and your comment is excellent.
@@macola1970 listening to your points in regards to weight = travel light ergonomics and bags from vincita made in Thailand which I know of them along with everything else to do with Brompton bikes and accessories from all over our planet, I think can only give an overall opinion based on bike packing without the trailer and then with the trailer at least then you could give an unbiased opinion, personally if you did try the trailer you would definitely be more than pleased it would open up a whole new aspect to your enjoyment = yes it’s that good , I wish you well on life’s path with the trailer make your experience much more easier or without the trailer suffering as you make life’s path harder than what it needs to be .
Great video, one question...what pressure do you run your tyres at when carrying the extra gear on the back and the rucksack? Must be pretty high? Thanks
Good question! I think it was around 95 to 100psi but yeah always run my pressure high personally cause I hate pinch flats
Always enjoy the input. I honestly think it looks great but I like to keep all the stuff in my tent porch so it's protected and safe where as this trailer would certainly not get under my porch
Oh, no, unfortunate charging Situation! Poor you 😂 don't worry, we all have been there. Even if it was just realizing the next morning that the charger fell out of the outlet cause of earthquake aftershocks. But, as Konfuzius said: "After charging is before charging" Beautiful scenery and nice trip anyway ☺️☺️
I wish it was as cool as that 😆. Simply left it in my laptop and my laptop died and the phone kept trying to looks for the dead device it was connected to 🫣
@@TheBromptonGuy oh noooooo 😂😂

The hinge pin joints are to be oiled not greased. Though yours does seem to be a potential manufacturing fault. When my H6R does that a tiny drop of 3-in-1 oil on each end and some repeat opening & closing action sorts it out (plus wipe any excess off). As for the roller wheels: have you tried thinner aftermarket Eazy wheels? If that doesn’t work how about increasing the Q-factor? If you put spacers to push out the crankset, you may gain sufficient heel clearance, also possibly in combination with thinner aftermarket Eazy wheels.
I'm pretty sure it's some kind of manufacturing fault and currently following up with Brompton atm. I do oil it but honestly doesn't help much which is surprising but I remain optimistic it will somehow just fix itself 🤣
