You forgot to mention in the animated segment of King of Jazz the first cartoon in Two-Color Technicolor has a cameo of Oswald Rabbit in it and it was done by Walter Lantz Production before the Woodpecker and even before the Panda there was Oswald as at the time Walter Lantz owned the character until he sold his studio and characters and more to Universal in 1984 though he still supervised the merchandise until 1994 where he sadly passed away and Walter Lantz is pretty important to Animation History and sadly you forgot to mention him.

It simply needed to be titled "The Princess of Mars", show the princess on the poster, begin with the arrival of jJohn Carter in town and film it as a trilogy !

I’ve never seen this movie before, and I imagine it’s not quite as bad as it’s made out to be. If Disney clarified the film takes place after the Civil War, I’m not certain if it’s really that worthy of controversy. Uncle Remus does feel like a charming and nice character too, and if Disney were willing, he would be a good lead mentor in a show about him.

I read these books as a kid, starting with the Master Mind of Mars (that's in the late 1950's folks). I thought the movie was a fair rendition of the stories. Changed, of course for filmmaking, but pretty good.

I was happy I saw it in cinemas. The movie is literally perfect, maybe a bit more explanation on the ninth ray. But still this was before "Jupiter's ascending, new Dune films and new "mad max" I feel like this film was actually overshadowed by Avatar

I waited 30 years for someone to make a movie about John Carter and, the incomparable Dejah Thoris. Edgar Rice Burroughs, and a Victorian era science fiction love story WERE the inspiration for all of these modern day sci Fi hit movies. And I only saw ONE trailer, one time prior to the box office release. PATHETIC DISNEY. Walt would not approve. Thank you for doing this analysis. Thank you Andrew Stanton for bringing these great books into the knowledge base, you made a great movie, Worthy of the material. And Disney, killed it. Long live Barsoom!

Uncle Remus was a philosophical old man, I'm sure he was inspired by the fables from Jean de la Fontaine or Aesop. The fact that he helped the little boy with his stories to get through life is something quite important and beautiful. Whatever we may say, Baskett surely did a marvelous job by portraying this humble man. We must never forget his legacy and the impact he has on the cinema industry by being the first black actor to receive an oscar (even if it was an honorary one) long time before Sydney Poitier, and the same for the beautiful Hattie Mcdaniel❤ Never forget history✊️

My favorite ride at Disneyworld was Splash Mountain. The combination of a dark ride and a thrill ride, especially the songs, the story - EVERYTHING! I was absolutely gutted when I learned I would never be able to experience the joy of that ride again. I freakin loved those Uncle Remus stories growing up. I will NEVER ride the Princess and the Frog ride they do EVER.

Superman was just John Carter on Earth. John Carter was stronger than everyone on Mars, and could jump higher, because he was from another planet. So they just did the same thing with Superman on Earth. And originally Superman couldn't fly, he just leapt tall buildings in a single bound. No laser eyes either, since lasers didn't exist. He only had the powers that John Carter had. John Carter was the first superhero. Scarlet Pimpernel might have been the first hero with a secret identity, but he didn't have superhuman powers like John Carter.

“It wouldn’t hurt to add a few lines addressing the issue (of slavery)” YES IT WOULD HURT. It’s not a documentary. The filmmakers have zero obligation to shoehorn in historical jabber about slavery. It would absolutely have hurt the film if they did. Thank goodness they didn’t.

I believe his appearances in Plane Crazy and Galloping Gauncho are available for use as well. And does Disney's trademark truly extent to merely his name as well? "Mickey Mouse" is in all of the title cards for the first three shorts. Also, if im not mistaken - advertising counts for public domain, which would mean his posters count for free gain too. They not only show him with his name, but his gloves as well (assuming those posters *we're* used to advertise the cartoons around there releases.) Its also going to be really difficult to use him even if you followed all the rules. His design from the 30's and Epic Mickey make using a black and white mickey harder. Should just not refrain from giving the Mick red pants or yellow shoes.
