Really interesting about the orientation thing. Makes me wonder what noise levels are at other orientations. Ironically, this sounds slightly like a downside of a hemi-anechoic chamber measurement: in real life, noise reflects all over the place, and so directionality of noise will matter less; i.e. if noise is directional, then you'll hear it even from a different direction. But within an anechoic chamber, you're not getting that noise "aggregation" for free, so even though measurements may be much more repeatable and precise, they're slightly less representative of real-world applications. Probably a good trade-off, but I wonder now what other cooler's noise at different angles would have been like. Another thing that's springs to mind now is that such coolers are of course mounted in a case in the real world, not an open test-bench. I suspect that given the kind of air-flow dynamics that seem to matter here, the directionality of the noise will be affect by a real-world the case. But would it be even worse for G2, or better? who knows...
Great, thank you !!!
Good review 👍I will be getting one for sure. I wish they would make a version with black fans and aluminium heatsink rather than all black chromax version
Noctua quality is great, no doubt about that. I'm not sure I want this cooler, but I do want the square version of the G2 fans coming in September for my cases! Thumbs up.
Much looking forward to the comparison to the TR Phantom Spirit 120SE and the ID- Cooling a720.
ppl is buying this cooler like crazy... it's not about the price but the quality.
Ppl is buying?
Thats awesome!

year later....any update on this? Or do I need to open mine just bought to check LOL
do not open your PSU please, especially if you are not trained in this stuff. No updates from Lian Li on that. They didn't inform me of anything nor send a new sample.
@@HardwareBusters I mean I am used to replacing those stupid loud fans and reballing GPUs ;) but was thinking it was not worth the effort LOL. Also came across reddit post where Lian Li rep stated that you received pre-production one and that final version got updated and this issue resolved.... no proof nor anything just "trust me bro" from someone with Lian Li prof pic LOL but even if it is resolved/updated fan under 200W load on undervolted 4080 Super is louder than GPU itself and 240 beQuiet AIO with 7800X3D in games... Will just return it since it does not even have prop 12VHPRW connection...
should i pick core reactor 2 ve 750w or chieftec proton 750w? Both are in same price point in my place
The XPG one
Fantastic review! I have the BeQuiet Silent Wings Pro 4 140 which do respectedily well. However, its great to see the king Noctua return to the top of the normalised charts, where they belong.
Price / performance compared to Arctic P14?
Nothing beats the P14 in this metric.
Thanks for confirming, performance looks pretty close.
corsair, arctic , thermaltake sohuld release similar quality fans
I dont know how you could make a fan review more precise, scientific and straightforward. Very valuable information, thank you very much
But is the c gold good enough for 1200, its a list on psucult? Or should i get the dark power 13 1300? 1200 should be fine
I typed in "nf-a14x25r g2" (without quotes) and your video doesn't show. I typed in "nf-a14x25r g2 fan review" (without quotes) and your video still doesn't show up in the results!!! I do, however, see completely irrelevant videos about old noctuas, songs, guns, and photo cameras, Contact KZread!!! This whole "algorithm" nonsense and corruption needs to be fixed!!!
Unfortunately YT continues to screw our work. In the GR channel things are even worse.
P14 Max looks so damn impressive and has a much higher ceiling than Noctua's when you need it
Great, thank you !!!
The new cooler the NH D-15 G2, please.
On it!
@@HardwareBusters Thanks. Much excited about it. Hoping that the Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120SE/EVO will be included against this beast.
THIS REVIEW OF THE NEW NOCTUA NHD 15 G2 WAS INCREDIBLE!! ABSOLUTELY AWESOME REVIEW!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ JUST LIKE NOCTUA ... YOUR REVIEWS ARE TOP-NOTCH!!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Are the 8 pin pcie cabels daisy cahined?
Would be convenient if you mention the fan RPM or make a note in the noise table (rpm for each fan at 20/25/30dba levels)
I have this info in the review.
Can you mount these as case fans?
Yes
September for the normal square version of this fan is what Noctua said. I want 4 of them! Thumbs up.
Aris, do plan to test Toughfan 14 pro?
Only if I buy it, because I lost contact with TT
I would love to see a review of the Thermal IceGale Xtra 120 and 140 mm fans. Especially the 120. Beasts especially when it comes to the 2500-3300 RPM market.
I will only say this: As expected from Noctua! Great review as always!
While the new NH-D15 G2 MSRP is overpriced, these fans are not - such a performance for both airflow and static pressure are never seen before especially at 25mm width! I just wished they had connection system similar to UNIFAN and they would release these fans in white, and I will buy these fans in a heartbeat. Knowing Noctua, it won't happen.
to be frank I hate UNIFAN non-standard connections. I want just a daisy option on them.
@@HardwareBusters you can connect unifan to normal PWM and ARGB (if the version has ARGB) headers, single unifans come with this cables. Also you can connect other fans to the unifan hub (in some versions), to be honest the whole point of unifan is to reduce cable clutter, I've had 15 fans (I know too much but this what I ended up) in my case and cables of the fans were a nightmare, now I have 9 Al120v2 fans and it's much better I need 3 cables - 1 pwm from CPU header to the radiator and 6 fans daisy chained with 1 cable to the controller and one to connect 2 groups of fan I have that it! Even with more fans it would not be an issue. I have already bought some Al140v2 and O11 evo XL and plan to change my system to dual 420mm old hardware labs radiators I have ( I need to paint them first). Noctua fans are in god tier of performance I acknowledge that, and I'm willing to pay the 40$ a pop for them, but going back to the old cable clutter - this is not something I would like, not after experiencing such a better solution for cable management. Maybe I will get them for my brother, who is fan of Noctua (no pun intended).
No these fans ARE overpriced at $40 a piece lol. P14 Max can be had for $18 and doesn't come in poop color.
@@teethashaquan5395 if you look for best performing fans at low RPM P14 MAX while good, don't have these performance. also build quality isn't on par with noctua. As i said I won't buy them as they lack features I look for, if they had the, for 40$ I would've bought them.
Olympus 593 MK 610 first stage compressor in 120mm computer fan form when, lol. I'm glad that they are starting to look at what aviation has been doing for a few decades, I've been poking and prodding PC fan makers to do such for a very long time.
in b4 everyone starts asking Aris to test ThermalRight coolers.
I am waiting for them :) Talked to TR already and they promised they will send stuff!!!
Let's embrace the inevitable
Can't wait to nab an old A14 for cheap from someone upgrading to G2.
The original A14s are not really better than most other 140mm fans with good bearings, it uses a pretty generic blade design and the only real upsides of it are the quality of the bearings and noctua supoort. I have a bunch of case fans from the likes of fractal and phanteks which essentially perform the same as the Noctua A14s from my coolers.

👏👍
I'm assuming the new pins are the NTK ones? But I don't see this information readily available on any GPU or PSU PCIE 12V-2x6 cables so how do we know if we're buying a new GPU or PSU that is using the NTK pins and new plastic connectors?
Aris, I just noticed that you gave the fsp gm vita 1000w cybernetics platinum and they are advertising cybernetics gold on their website 😂 I think this is not the first time this is happening, right?
Nope, they wanted it Gold. We don't have a problem when a manufacturer downgrades our ratings. We only have a problem when he tries to upgrade them :)
@@HardwareBusters this is the weirdest and funniest thing 😂 I guess they are keeping it that way to stop from cannibalising sales of their more expensive models right? I just bought the 1kw version.
Thank you for hard work.
Thank you !
Can you redo this review ? i'm pretty sure if you ask Lian Li on Reddit they will provide you a SP850 , i have this psu for 1 year now the interior in it is completely different from the one you got , the PFC input capacitor is no longer sandwished like it was on your , and also black now. The 12VPHWR cable is now a 600W one with 4 pin sense compatible with RTX 4000.
@@BlaackJack-ds6de I don’t deal with Lian Li psus for the moment, sorry
Seems Asus is unveil there version 3 rog thor 1600w now with a native 12pwhr connector and switch can switch to turbo and oled panel can be removed
Please test Phanteks M25 d-rgb 140mm ❤
Will try to find it. Problem is that I have zero contact with this brand :(
@@HardwareBusters thanks for trying! These d-rgb fans supposedly can push 104 cfm or so! Decent static pressure but nowhere near the P 14 max
Very nice video as always, appreciate your work! I wanted to go for SF850L because of better cooling and it's also fitting, but why is the sfx-l so loud, even tough it has the 120mm fan? Is it just the fan curve the went with, are the components not able to run so hot because of worse design, or did they just do big compromises and went with a too high continous operation temperature on the SF850 and the SF850L is the way better choise in terms of durability? Or just bad design on the SF850L?
I buy this psu Thanks for the review. This psu is awesome 👌 It's more titanium standard for the price of platinum. I'm overclock gpu and cpu and is no problem for this psu. If you buy it there is nothing against plus future proof ❤
