The Hunting Beast

The Hunting Beast

Dan Infalt grew up and has lived in SE Wisconsin his whole life. He was the youngest of 11 children. Because he grew up without much money, hunting, fishing, trapping, and gathering were more of a way to survive than a hobby. It was during these hard times of putting food on the table that Dan developed the woodsman ship skills that he passes on today. Dan learned to hunt by studying the animals and the environment they live in. He has taken dozens of trophy whitetails on public and pressured land where anyone can hunt. Dan now works as a Prototype machinist. On the side he teaches workshops where he shares his personal scouting and hunting tactics, showing students the properties he hunts while examining some of his most successful set-ups on mature whitetail deer. Dan and his tactics have been featured in many magazines, such as Field & Stream, Deer & Deer Hunting, North American Whitetail, etc.. Dan has a forum based website - www.thehuntingbeast.com.

With Dan's face on the front! Or a Hat with THP and THB letters on the sides and a big buck on the front!

    Being completely honest, I think the camera argument for the nay sayers isn't thought out terribly well. I think there is a bit of hypocrisy that they often don't see. Most of these Anti camera people are hunting with guns at times, some are even using crossbows shooting 450 ft a second. Tons of them are shooting compounds with state of the art arrows that are shooting 330ft a second. They probably all or mostly all hunt with muzzleloaders. The idea that technology is suddenly destroying hunting because of cameras I think is a hole ridden argument. Rifles, compound bows, crossbows and muzzleloaders have killed far more deer than a camera is responsible for. Bad hunters with guns will kill more deer than bad hunters with cameras. It's a double standard. If you're only using a traditional bow with wooden arrows hunting in flannel, then sure, maybe you have an argument. Thats just the weapons and not even talking about custom camoflauge, scent lock everything, ozonics, and the list goes on and on. As far as success rates, I rarely see someone shoot a buck because of their camera. They may know the buck is there. But it's not like they get a picture and walk out there and shoot it. Less than .001% of hunters do that. If you want to talk privacy on "public" land. Sure.. but it's public and it's not necessarily meant for you to go and have privacy on.. it's meant to be used by the public. There always seems to he something that hunters have to go after. It's been crossbows for the longest time. Now it's cameras. And strangely, I still see the best hunters shooting big bucks like Dan had shot 2 Booners on public the last 3yrs. There are more deer and bigger bucks than ever. Cameras aren't ruining the population. I just think that it's a change and people are making judgments based on emotion and not reason. You want to limit them to a certain amount per person on public.. I wouldn't argue that. But to get rid of them entirely is silly and not based on good arguments, in my opinion.

    You don't think it's weird to have a video taken of yourself by someone you don't know when you're 2 miles in the woods? It's always made me uncomfortable. The regular cams aren't as bad because at least the guy behind the cam didn't just get a notification that second as I'm standing there in "his" spot. That's so unsettling.

  • @PBAdventures146
    @PBAdventures14615 сағат бұрын

    @gordonneverdies well it's not "his" spot.. and personally I don't. It's not like people with cameras are serial killers and if they get a video of me I wave and keep moving. I've personally never heard of an altercation between two hunters because some guy got a picture or a video on his cell cam on public property. I don't think some guy is getting picture on his cell cam and rushing to the property to fight a guy that's legally there. I got one picture of a hunter last year on my cell cam. To me I used it to my advantage to not hunt in the area. That's just me.

    @@nockreel1190 there ain’t nothing fun about NW Florida public land deer hunting😂😂 I mean it’s hunting so it’s great but these deer are built different and get heavily pressured. Takes a few season to get them dialed in but once you do it gets better.

    I may be in the minority but I enjoy the mystery of what may show up while hunting. And I don’t care for seeing a camera way back in the mountains of public land I hunt. It almost feels like I’m being watched. I just want to hunt and sometimes I like to put an hour or two in a hike to where I’m hunting. I’m not saying I’m the only one who has hiked to a spot to hunt it, but the time it takes to make that trip and effort it takes I know not many go in that far. I hate the fact somebody is watching that area with a camera and watching me. Get rid of cameras in public land. Go back to basics with reading the land and the sign.

    I completely agree! I talk about this with my buddies all the time. All of this technology takes the sport and adventure away from hunting. Hunting should be about developing and putting your woodsmanship skills to the test.At least it feels more rewarding when you do end up being successful. Also, I couldn’t agree more that the anticipation of not knowing what could be coming from the next ridge over is the one of the most exciting parts about the experience !

    I've been hunting Clark County WI public for a good many years. It's really been tough the last few years. The county has been selling the timber and huge areas are being clear cut. It's forcing hunters into areas that usually I would have to myself. I still have a few areas, but have been going to neighboring counties for better opportunities.

    Hopefully you dont go out there to hunt and see the guy who built all the blinds out there in yet another blind eating a raspberry preserve sandwiches and drinking beer. I think the Hunting Beast concept has caught on in swampland especially in WI and they are doing what you have always been doing by going where no man has gone before. Time to start hunting the parking lots again. LOL!

    This is huge....I have already bumped 3 deer (at least one was a buck - I never saw the other two) out of thickets of young Pines or Hemlocks....All 3 times I was downwind and got within 20 yards. In my part of New Hampshire, deer seem to love bedding in them and there are plenty of places where young thickets have taken hold. Now all I need to do is get in a tree as close as possible undetected......It's all about bedding, bedding, bedding. It's kinda like the real estate market.....location, location, location.

    Reminds me of a property that’s got real good older class deer on it. I’ve got a spot the higher the hunting pressure on the property gets the more deer end up in the spot I picked out. Peak pressure= the biggest bucks on the block are in that location. Seen it play out multiple years.

I think I got away with it for about 2 years. 😣😅. Glad you still post the older vids. Still a boatload of learning there. Kind of looked like that buck was sniffing under a scrape? Then caught your scent. Not sure. Some people have a hard time taking a front/ head on shot. If I'm confident, I'm taking it. If not, I pass. But, I agree with you, I've had deer stop dead nuts, and others that just bolted. You never know. Part of the fun, I reckon. Anyways, good stuff as usual. Appreciate you dude.😊
