Saving the Princess - IOWA PUBLIC LAND RUT HUNT

Спорт

Dan heads back to Iowa to bow hunt whitetail bucks in rut and to save Princesses. The buck villain in this video grunts like a three year old boy who found Dad's grunt tube. You gotta see this one to believe it...

The one thing no one has talked about is the fact that Dan is showing us his mistakes, he doesn't have to do that and could easily hide that. My opinion is it's not a shooting issue, I think Dan is a good shooter, the issue is Confidence! Bow hunting is 90% mental. Dan is second guessing himself the whole time as a shot presents itself. He is extremely confident in finding deer and his setup, which he should be, he's always on big deer. The shot is a different story, he's lost his mojo, almost needs his beast card pulled. I'm sure he will get it worked out, we all go through it.

Dan's friend Jay makes a very good point. As long as many of us have been archery hunting somewhere along the way we can develop some kind of target panic or shooting problem and not know it or know how to fix it. Who here focuses more on their pin placement more than their actual release of the arrow? I have relearned my shot process to ensure iam in control at all times in my shot process and that my focus has changed to my release than where my pin is because that should be the easy part. Hope this makes sense and can help someone.

😂😂😂 And well.... somebody had to save the princess! I paused the video, and had to comment. People lack character these day's, but not Dan Infalt. Give us more. I'll never forget the old man in the swamp story you told on one of your bear kill videos. He warned you not to go into the swamp because of the beast that lurks from above in the trees, and then you said to the old man, unbeknownst to him.... I AM THE BEAST😂😂😂. I've memorized that story, word for word, and I tell it to people. There is alot of truth to the story. And I can see where's it would be helpful for someone who is uneasy about walking through the woods in the dark. I'm a gun hunter, and I've always told people, as long as I have my gun, I'm the force to be recond with. I like the beast story better. From a total stranger, probably 800 miles south of you, I just wana say, your videos really have an impact on people. I'm sure I speak for many others as well, thank you Dan, full throttle on the character! And holy smokes, I've never heard a buck grunt like that. Got you another one, goodern too!

I just got back from Iowa for my first time. My minds still completely blown because I’m from northern Michigan. I shot a nice buck on last day, nice for northern Michigan but a baby for that insane place. Had to scream Hey Stop at him 3 times to stop him. Took a drive one evening, saw 30 bucks & 10 shooters around 140-150”. My head is still spinning. Hunted public & private. Oh ya, finding your keys was a trip!!!

Dan, Jay Trudel’s advice is spot on, about just watching the deer while drawn, then aim and shoot only at the moment of truth. For the last three years, I’ve been having the same issue of thinking the angle’s right, only to put a marginal shot on a deer. I’ve gotten lucky and found them all, but had been scratching my head every time, trying to understand how I could’ve misread the angle. For those same three years, I’ve also struggled to see my target through the pins with my newly-acquired old man eyes! Really glad you posted this. I’m taking this advice with me to the swamp this afternoon! And, I’m glad you were able to save that princess. You are a true hero. Bet you saved some innocent trees too🤙

  • @thehuntingbeast

The way my eyes are if I focus on the pins the deer is a blur, if I focus on the deer, I cant see the pins... I think focusing on the deer till the shot presents and then shifting to the pins will help dramatically.

Talk about luck finding your keys and catching the buck vocalization on video. You should of been heading to a casino that evening. The area you was hunting is an amazing area to hunt and you made it look easy. I lived very close to it for 5yrs. But never bowhunted it cause had plenty of private property to hunt with a lot less hunting pressure. I've since moved back up to NE Iowa and public land is no different than where you were hunting pressure wise. To your followers Dan, Iowa doesn't have a Monster Buck behind every tree. Per square mile the state may have a higher number of Big Bucks than some. But you still have to know and understand your quarry in order to harvest one. Video's make it look a lot easier than it really is. Dan's understanding and knowledge of his quarry is what gets him to the point of taking a shot. To harvest or even see a Big Buck. Especially on a public hunting piece of ground. CONGRATS Dan on your harvest!!! I know what you went thru and the video only portrays a minuscule amount of the actual hunt itself.

We've met a few times. Ive killled 20 something pope and youngs in Michigan and the same in Ohio on my lease. And half a dozen ish bear. Dan i used to hunt a spot where i could shoot a doe a day and i did for years. Tons and tons and tons of deer. Ive killed hundreds. But......... like you beast man! Ive learned so so many lessons. First im so sorry you didn't get that buck, or maybe you did im heading out hunting and wont be able to finish until later. My point in this. Im late 30s now and i had to switch to a crossbow due to back surgery. "Army vet" im more like a snuper in a ghillle suit now. And staying back from that shoulder a touch and one lung and liver and gut will kill almost 90 percent! Worst case i get the dog. A deers shoulders are a nightmare due to deflection and hollow spots. Anyway good luck and you are the ONLY guy i watch anymore. Ps my 12 year old shot a booner early october and hes had two open heart surgerys. And in sep he shot a black bear in the UP Michigan. If you ever want to hunt mi pm me.

my VXR does that sometimes too with my peep. I've made it a habit that every time I hook up my thumb release it's puts enough tension on the cable that I can turn the peep in the direction it needs to go for a clear sight picture. it's a temporary fix to a string that's still breaking in. I know you've probably shot a million times with that bow and so have I but it still stretches and moves over time. I've had my peep readjusted and it still does the same thing. I love your content and I love the knowledge you have about whitetails. Keep dropping those hammers!
