What about when the bank and the insurance company are in cahoots? Had 2 claims in 20 years, first denied, 2nd said $8000 damage, bur the bank got the money, and insurance dropped us! So I payed approximately $75 a month premiums, for 20 years to get dumped for 1 storm. The adjuster was kind enough to call me and let me know they were going to screw us over. From now on, when it comes to insurance, I say I'm Muslim, it's against my religion.

I was gonna say before you even added the lines and stuff in that picture of the cracked planter wall I was like “yeah but the whole floor looks like it’s at the very least sinking in the middle if not the entire far side of the floor sloping away from the near side.

We have basically infinite space in the USA LOL I really don’t think these massive projects are really necessary. Public transport and actual reasonable buildings seems like a better idea. But idk.

America needs to insure their own homes. If you have to pay $5, O00 per year, in ten years that is $50,000 that you have in your account. If your mortgage company is demanding you get insurance, you are not responsible for The insurance you are responsible fot the loan on the house, and that's what you pay Once you oay the home mortgage you are not obligated to pay homeowners insurance because the home is yours and you pay property taxes on the land. You will reduce the mortage vy a substantial amount because your mortgage is for a loan on a home. Also find out how much your taxes increased for that year Ex :you oaid in 2023 Property taxes in the amount of $8,000 they increased the taxes by $8,500 pay the five hundred separate and keep your $8,000 leaving your $8,000 intact because the reason you should pay the $500 separate is because everytime you get that tax bill for the next year and you don't pay that tax bill, your taxes is inreased by $200.00 the taxesis now 8,700 instead 0f $8,200. Always try to pay the new amount to stabilize your mortgage payment. Remember insurance and taxes pay council men and CEO''s.

Wow... a project of this magnitude based on some Excel spreadsheet magic? Smh... I hope they've additionally used 3D-non-linear numerical modelling of the soil-structure, together with soil sampling, strain gauges on the structure and highly ductile rods. That's what I would have done I guess!

I got robbed once I called the cops and the insurance adjuster showed up 5 mins after the cops left I think my mom called but not sure he was nice and consoling to me and my gf for bout 20mins then was like ok you lost 2 custom pcs 2 old monitors 2 flat screen tvs an xbox 360 with assorted games and a stereo system right at least they broke the lock so we know its not a scam look you have a 1000 deductible and maybe 3 grand worth of stuff stolen working out to 2 grand in your pocket but thats going to make us raise the rates for the neighborhood and all your neighbors are going to be pissed bout the rate hikes and tried to make me feel guilty for putting in the claim in the end we still submitted a claim got paperwork a few days later saying we were only out 2 grand so they would send out a check for roughly 1000 lucky the cops found our stuff at a pawnshop the custom pcs were easily proven to be ours but the moniters and tvs not so much

How many of you people have ever read your insurance policy? An easy way to read your policy is to read the exclusions. If the damage isn't excluded then it's covered. Insurance agents lie to you to get your business and they tell you everything is covered no matter what to the full extent but that's not true. Insurance companies are audited and have to pay fines for overpaying a claim as well as underpaying a claim. Do some research. And Public Adjusters are the biggest Liars of all and the biggest scammers in cheaters then they charge the homeowner a great percentage so they had the claim. Learn what your policy covers.

Homeowners insurance is getting expensive because the cost of replacement has skyrocketed. Cost and availability of building materials and labor have inflated because of the devaluation of the dollar. Who is so stupid to live in a area where catastrophic weather happens EVERY YEAR. There is fraud and ignorance. It is a cultural problem.

why do they design unbonded rods ? unless they are going to jack up the building, there is no reason to isolate the piles from the vault and the rods from the entire thickness of vault concrete. going beyond yield is ridiculous in civil engineering

I've been saying it for years. Also insurance companies, Will set the amount you are to insure . Every, nail, board, shingle, Cost of every single item. Now when there is a claim none of that is mentioned. Just say well, Your home is valued at x amount The insurance is going to cost you this amount. I say no, I'm going to insure it for much less. They say you CAINT do that. I say I can do what I want to. I own the home. The only thing I'm responsible for the balance owed, If it is completely destroyed. The problem to me is, The insurance company thinks they can set ( value) the price. And collect their set price.

My God. So they are trying to fix a faulty compression problem by substituting a sheering problem? Brilliant. I should have put my foundations in last on all my buildings because who needs to properly build buildings anymore. It's amazing that the engineers that couldn't get hired by reputable engineering firms go to work at the building departments. You'd think if this could work, it would have been used on the (leaning) Tower of Pieza!

I love how when doing work on a very mild repair of a typical residential block basement foundation wall, I seem to put more care into the design than some of these huge building design firms do. I guess I was just taught to protect my license more than they were.

I want to see a FEA on that concrete "key" and the rear. That is going to be a very strange loading and the foundation was not designed with that in mind.

sounds like the product and these discussions around it are based on bull. insurance is supposed to be for unexpected accidents or events out of our control. yet we have tons of control over choosing to live in Florida. i wont pretend to have all the answers here, but i can tell when overall it just doesn't make sense. what's troublesome is that this is now true for most services and products. food makes you sick, healthcare keeps you sick, housing is impossible to find at a rate that isn't oppressive, insurance has become fraud, doctors have become corrupt, financial advisors all work to steal as much as they can from you.. the true trickle down effect is paradigms and patterns of behavior from the top. we have false leaders teaching others to set fire to the foundation of our society: trust.. time to get rid of the status quo leadership. they're incompetent and have been incompetent and out of control for far too long.
