  What can I say? This song is about me!!! I lived this and still do 50 years later! But, in order to reach new heights, I bought a 4-wheeler. As I got older, hiking became a thing of the past. But, I still got to get “far above the timberline.” May my grandson grow to love this song as much as I have and may he climb higher than me in his life! Love you, Michael Martin Murphy!   This song reminds me of so many good times, good people and great adventures. Such a perfect time in our lives. I have lived in the foothills of the mountains in Carolina all my life. Seems fitting that this song lingers in our lives like the smell of a campfire in your clothes.
