Lone Cowboy Hour - Hard Country Album (Movie)
On tonight's Lone Cowboy Hour I share stories and songs from the movie Hard Country and the soundtrack I created around it. I was very involved in this movie including writing the script (as well as songs), acting, and creating a soundtrack with songs from friends like Joe Ely and Tanya Tucker. I hope you enjoy this week's Lone Cowboy Hour as we take a look back at 1981's Hard Country.

Michael Murphey is one of the best entertainers, writers and musicians I’ve ever heard. I love all his music and his Austin City Limits performance in the early 80’s is legendary. I’m 26 and my generation has no one like him…Thank you for what you do MMM.
The oil patch was a great place to be a young man in the early 80s. And I loved your movie about our lives.
Kids today can't slow down enough to listen. It's a 3 second attention span and, on to the next. We mustn't take it personally. It's important for human- kind to advance, progress, transform, ...to change. Men like Michael are a vestige of a bygone era. Nostalgia. The story tellers are very important. More important than ever as changes happen much more rapidly now. We remember to learn. As we embark on this journey, down this new trail we're blazing, let's not loop back to where we've been without reason. It may be that once in a while, the old ways are best. We may find ourselves lost in the dark and making our way desperately to an old cowboy's firelight in the distance.
Great beautiful background
