Forest Film Studio

Forest Film Studio

Welcome to the website where we present films and recordings made by filmmakers from the Polish State Forests.

Poland takes the leading position in Europe as far as the forest area is concerned. The forests overgrow 9.1 million hectares which is 29.4% of the territory of Poland. The vast majority of this area are forests owned by the state, out of which almost 7.6 million hectares are under the State Forests Holding management. The Forest Film Studio is part of it.

We want to share with you the effects of our work, i.e. unusual film meetings with nature, and in particular with the forest. In the photos you will see many animals filmed in their natural habitat, you will see the wildest corners of Poland, captivating landscapes. We hope that the films posted here, made in Forest Film Studio, will inspire you to your own natural explorations.
We will be very grateful if you subscribe to the channel and leave an opinion about the movies you watched.

    I had no idea bison even existed in Europe until fairly recently. I thought bison were a species exclusively endemic to here in America. I remember hearing stories passed down from my ancestors (Polish & German) about storks, cuckoos, bears, wolves, elk and even “blue” frogs but none about bison. I suppose it’s because they were already scarce when my great grandparents immigrated to America in the early-to-mid 1800s. Populations then already limited to one northern primeval forest and the Caucasus Mountains in the south. Fascinating & well done documentary!

    Thank you so much for this beautiful film. It took me back to my younger days in the UK, when nature was not so severely depleted, and you could still easily see yellowhammers and spotted flycatchers and hear cuckoos in the countryside. Since the intensification of agriculture for the production of monocultures like rapeseed, the burning of stubble and sowing of winter wheat which deprived the birds of leftover seeds, the proliferation of sinister herbicides and pesticides, and a shocking policy of digging up our species- rich ancient hedgerows to squeeze every inch out of the fields, our countryside has fallen increasingly silent. Your films encourage me to believe that not all is lost, and there is still hope that nature can revive, given the space and helpful natural management of forests and other wild areas, and the political will to promote these things.

  • @forestfilmstudio
    @forestfilmstudioКүн бұрын

    These negative changes in agriculture also reached Poland after many years. Forests, their edges, forest clearings, ponds and rivers flowing through forests, which in our country are almost 80% state-owned, are a refuge for rare and endangered species. We hope that there will not be a permanent silence in our fields, as in the UK.

    What you write is not true. We conduct sustainable forest management in our country, which means that we plant more trees than we cut down. Unfortunately, politics and greed also affect state forests in Poland. Recent years have been difficult for our organization in terms of its image, precisely because of politicians' interest in money from the sale of timber. However, our economy is still sustainable, and timber is an ecological and renewable raw material that is also needed by people to function. Greetings from Forest Film Studio team.

    What an excellent documentary, with multiple perspectives. Historically humans saw these magnificent creatures as only good for sport (a mental sickness in my humble opinion). But also fascinating to note that the Russians and Germans were willing to protect the precious bison population in WWII, in spite of being on opposing sides. The European bison seems to be an emblem of the best of human attempts to live in harmony with and encourage nature. It was so interesting to understand all that is involved in conservation and protection of this species (including having to cull them sometimes). Also significant are the preventative efforts like keeping a gene or sperm bank in case of natural catastrophe. I again congratulate all those people in Poland who support and share their skills and knowledge in a whole range of disciplines, in order to safeguard the bison and in doing so strive for a balance between natural and human needs that is to the benefit of all.

  • @forestfilmstudio

    We are very happy that the history of bisons in our country has ended so well. Now we have a problem that there are quite a lot of them, and they need space to live, which people should share with these animals. It's not that simple. A lot of love to you!

    It’s rather sad that people care more for other species than they do for their fellow humans. “Killing for killing sake” is a mental illness.
