If the tree is dead and dry, hornets and wasps like to obtain cellulose from such a tree to build their nests. So every tree, in every state of life or death, has significance in the forest and has some important functions. And, for example, a dry aspen is ideal for a squirrel that will extract fiber from it to build its nest.
