  Still looks really good on ps4 even with vr. Sad that there are only 3 missions and that they are ps only. Havent tried. But unlikely that im going to buy a psvr just for ace combat and project wingman

  PS2 Pulse deserves recognition IMHO. It's got all the PSP dlc on disc, and about 150 extra challenges.

  This is my favorite wipeout video of youtube. I don't exactly know why. Maybe the choice of music and the fact it make me remember playing wipeout with friends on Ps1

  I believe the reason it doesn’t work is because the ships have separate stats for each speed class. To my understanding, a lot of the game’s internal logic is shared with WipEout Pure and WipEout Pulse, and I’ve seen the files of those two games.

  All WipEout games should deserve to get at least A tier, with WipEout 2097, 3, and HD and 2048 all in S TIER.

  I finally found Asayyeah, after all these years. He's up for the last crusade, irl in april. Will be our second Avalon together. 15 years after LMAO. Through him, I could join some of the the Rolling Stones. For sure they'll join the online event, or maybe before . So far, Mad-Ice, Xtriko, Kingheim are in, il_NIK, Temet and stin probably...   Kinda late to the party but, you can probably play the PSP games with PPSSPP emulator on your phone and use a good bluetooth controller (sony or xbox or whatever). this would allow you to play Pure and it's DLCs, and do it on the go, the way it was meant to be played!! you definitely should. the new ships and whacky art style of the new tracks are awesome!

  Honestly, yeah I always enjoy the Prototype ships most, same with the last unlocks in 2097, 3 and Fusion. I want more WipEout racers like that 2097 Piranha honestly - more machines that focus on going fast and can't use weapons. If I were to ever make a racing game with weapons myself, I'd include some way to handicap yourself by not using them to gain a stats advantage. (This is also why my main in BallisticNG is the NX2000)

  This is why I love the Pir-hana and FEISAR prototypes - when you master them both they are ABSURDLY powerful. I feel like I understand the FEISAR prototype better, but there's something to be said for this playstyle too! At several points both craft just TAKE OFF ENTIRELY!

  You need to play the ntsc versions for the older games, they play MUCH smoother, and the physics, specifically 2097 vs XL are very different

  "nobody likes Outpost 7 or Gemini Dam" Wrong, they're the best tracks! Especially Gemini Dam Black, maybe my favourite in the entire series. You got the most important ranking right (Pulse at the top) and justified your choices, but I'd move a few. WipEout has a certain purity about it that I like, no weapon damage and the punishing collision detection (although it's over the top) puts the focus on clean racing, and the ship physics are good, so I'd bump it up a tier or two. Wip3out down a tier just because hyperthrust ruins everything. It's great aside from that and the unlock system you mentioned. Fusion down a tier. Even though it's a good game, it's a bad WipEout game. I quite enjoyed the tracks though, some mad ideas in there. Pure up a tier despite its flaws. So many great tracks, and the unique low-grip low-acceleration physics so you have to find lines that maintain the most momentum (speed pads become much more important). Yeah, absorbing weapons is a big upgrade from the pitlane! HD Fury down a couple of tiers, despite many similarities to Pulse. I'm not sure what they did to the physics compared to Pulse, but I don't get on with the bouncy feel as much. I think they went a bit far with the flashy graphics on some tracks and I find it a distraction from the ships, walls, and weapons. I can't really agree about the weapon balance, getting hit causes massive speed loss as well as damage, and combined with the sticky walls from Pulse (except worse), it's too easy for an online race to be decided by the weapons lottery. Also, no backquakes or custom lobby naming like we had in Pulse.

  Pir-hana prototype in this track is super hard, my ship explode several times but i managed to beat the level after few tries with it

  im playing through pure right now after recently buying a psp for the first time and the game feels really artificial compared to omega collection. The ai is insanely difficult lap one. you can get a perfect speed boost and pass everyone but they all zoom past you no matter what their stats. Then later in the race no matter your own stats you will gradually pass people as long as you don't get hit. Maybe this is in every game ane is just how it is but i notice it alot more in pure.

  Can't say I'm a fan of not factoring in weapons. You completely ignore a stat and standard feature of the game (shielding and pickups). In Fury AG Systems typically dominated lobbies due to getting off the line faster to starve opponents of pickups. Also when it comes to top speed, more tracks than not disallow high top speed ships to reach and maintain top speed long enoigh to offset the difference in average speed vs high thrust ships. Thanks for the enjoyable video. I miss the HD/Fury days.
